  1. @ wake turbulence

I did a quick and dirty test in the ME. 60-70 FA-18 Hornets in close formation and 2 hight level to each other:

    - only AI lowest drop 31 fps

    - 1 FA-18 set as client -> player control wake turbulence off -> flying behind the other 18's fps drops to low 30s

    - 1 FA-18 set as client -> player control wake turbulence on -> flying behind the other 18's fps drops to 9-12 fps

Settings in Sig, latest OB and driver installed.

    Edit: 2D not VR

  2. I noticed lower fps too in the JF-17 cockpit compared with other planes, just in parking at hot start without radar or tgp running.

Yeah, the only "bummer". FPS is worse compared to other modules, not that much of a problem in 2D for me but in VR noticeable.

I can also confirm there is massive fps drop with AG radar. The problem started after 2.5.6.

My FPS drops from 60 to 10.

This has to be fixed please.

For me the fps drop to single digits when lights on the warning panel are present.

Could you two post your PC specs and DCS settings? I can use the AG radar without any significant fps loss. I can see a big fps loss if i do the light test, from the 80s to the 40s in 2D, didn't tried it in VR yet.

  3. +1

This is an abolutely awesome module, fun to fly and fight in it

First i was undecided about the JF-17 but i'm so glad i bought it! And an incredible dedicated dev team

  4. Bump

The UI slider works like a charm now, thank you for the quick fix!

The little problem with only one song still persists:

    - 1 .ogg sound file

    - 1 .sdef file

    - special options, slider set to 1

-> The DPlayer playes that 1 song and then stops(regardless mode C or X)

if i put 2 or more .ogg + .sdef files in their corresponding folders and set the special options #slider to the correct number -> DPlayer loops the playback (for example track 1of3, 2of3, 3of3, 1of3....

  5. I realize comparing X-Plane and DCS is not a fair comparison. However, using X-Plane's Vulkan Beta I'm getting about a 10% increase in FPS. I see on XP forums that AMD users are getting a larger increase. This may improve as the Beta progresses. I don't think Vulkan is going to be the game changer some are hoping it will be.

We have a Vulkan API thread in the Chit-Chat section of the forum. Here 2 quotes from my experience with Vulkan and the other Sim. I know, its comparing apples and oranges because of the change from OpenGL to Vulkan and not DirectX11 but for me:

    Pretty impressive on my side.

My little test starting at Hamburg Finkenwerder direction north to the city, turning east to fly along river Elbe with the river and all the buildings and trees, clouds and a little fog visible(200-400ft heigt).

OpenGL: 25 on runway, on flight 20-26

Vulkan: 45 on runway, on flight 38 -46

Details, nearly maxed out, only AA is not maxed out, 3440x1440

I didn't tried that yet, just installed the Beta today after seeing Vulkan is live for that sim. I will try it later.

    EDIT:

I tried it with my Rift S, over Hamburg city and less populated countryside of northern germany my fps were locked at 40, some minor drops to 38 or so - i had to watch the framecounter on the mirrored screen. Very impressive if i recall my first VR test a year ago or so, that was very poor performance and stuttering with very reduced details. But now there is nearly no stuttering, every thing feels absolutly smooth, the only glitch i noticed are the water reflections in VR flash and glitch with the head movement(fast).

But like others already said, the openGL engine is not a very perfomant to begin with and nobody knows how significant the performance improvement for DCS will be(DX to Vulkan).

There is always hope that DCS will profit from the change to Vulkan but in the end all we can do is sit and wait and see for ourselfs when it arrives.

  6. Personally I would say, there is no much difference whether you have an HMD or not, if the jeff is still carrying PL5E II as its main SRM.

It's very reasonable that PAF did not order HMD for current block of jeff.

That is the next thing shaHeen-1 will be asking for R73/Aim-9x like SRM for the JF-17....

Oh and while we're at it, why not strap a second engine to the airplane? I mean other airplanes also have two engines! I can't use the full potential of jeff if i have only one engine, it would have so much more thrust! And a second pair of wings, imagine all the new weapon stations, wow i could really kick some asses with that! And the Death Star laser beam and a "i win button"..... it could be enabled/disabled in the ME for the people who don't like it.:doh::music_whistling:

Sorry for that sarcasm post but i really hope Deka is not ruining this great module by implementing fictional stuff. If the RL JF-17 is getting a HMD with Block x and Deka decides to upgrade our Jeff to that Block it would be fine but just implementing it because someone wants it to win in DCS airquake battles? No, please.

  7. Hi all,

Having a curious issue with the JF-17 -- ran a quick start, set my settings, got ready to get underway and low and behold, I get blurry vision until I black out. I've never run into hypoxia in the game before, but this sure sounds like what it'd be. Seems to be repeatable for me just by making a new mission. Is this a known issue or something recently added? I've not seen this in the past few weeks, just today, so I'm assuming it was introduced in the newest patch?

Edit: I should add this is a ramp start QME mission, so cockpit is cold and dark, on the tarmac, lid is open. Shouldn't be a situation where hypoxia would kick in.

If you start cold and dark you have to connect your Oxygen tube with the connector in the cockpit and also open the valve. There is a oxygen pressure gauge too. Attached pic is taken from Chucks IF-17 guide.

I don't know/didn't try how it's implemented by deka but i guess it's the default ED implementation and that does not simulate sitting in the cockpit without your oxygen mask, so even in the F-18 cockpit open you will wear your mask and suffer from Hypoxia without your Oxygen supply enabled, thats how they implemented it.

    https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=252871&highlight=hypoxia

    ....

My working theory was that I had somehow run out of available o2, even though I've never tried that on any other module.

You can see your oxygen decreasing on the pressure gauge over your flight time, but i never was long enough into the air to run out of it(low yes but not out).

  8. Huh, interesting. If that is the case, then it is highly likely that it is my axis that is the cause. I use a Virpil MT-50 throttle and it's not uncommon for the axis to create "jitters" because they are so fine-grained. In other air frames I have not had trouble of this kind before, but they also don't pull double duty on the controls this way.

I'm gonna have a look into this after work. It might be the cause of my issue with the HUD SPI as well.

I'm using the same(? version 3) throttle, the F-18 also uses the radar elevation axis for TGP zoom.

  9. I do have a axis I use for radar elevation, but I'm not under impression that I use it for zooming on the targeting pod?

I'm gonna have a look at that bind after work and see if it also works as a zoom for the targeting pod.

The Radar elevation Axis is used for zoom(or FOV like L0op8ack said above) by default. As soon as you have assigned it for the elevation axis it is also used to zoom the TGP. I think your axis(physical on the HOTAS) does produce some false signals(jitter) and that triggers the constant re-focosing for you.

  10. On the pod? No, only a button to switch between near and far.

Do you have the Radar elevation mapped to an axis? I do have it mapped and use it to zoom the TGP( additinally to near/wide) as long as i move that axis i get a re-focus but as soon as i stop moving that sxis(zoom level i want) it stops re-focusing and i have a clear picture, tested right now in latest OB.

  11. Did you forget to set the fuze by any chance? I forget this sometimes and am wondering why i missed my target. I tried them right now and had no problems hitting my targets, deadly as always i would say.

  12. It was telling that it had only yesterday been implemented in the internal build and was called WIP, but yet Kate P seems to suggest it’ll ready in approx 2 weeks. We shall see....fingers crossed...

But it's "only" the Real Beam Ground Map Mode, not all the AG modes. And the JF-17 is using the ED Radar API for quite a while now(MAP/GMT/SEA...). So why not?

  13. About that, EA prices are the full prices, you're not saving money by purchasing EA modules. I guess EA is open to interpretation, but it is customary to keep the price discounted. I would not buy the EA Viper if it would not be for the current sale otherwise.

Modules announced for EA but not yet released into EA are offered with a pre-purchase discount. Thats why many buy EA modules, they don't pay 80$ but 65 or so. If you own the F-18 you get also an extra discount ontop of the pre-purchase discount for the supercarrier and you can even spend ED miles on it. So pre-purchase+Hornet-discount(=50% off)+ED miles = very cheap module

  14. They could simply have cut and paste it in their post if they want to highlight how users can get the new feature to work. Then again, proper instructions and tutorials have never been their strong point and are still lacking today.

You mean like they did a week before the patch/feature went live? With pictures and where to find detailed info for setup..... :music_whistling:

    Mini Update Thread: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=262371

  15. Why I need to forget Hawk? Hornet is too. Viper too. and we will meet another eternally no complete module. what is different them with My Hawk?

If you ED need more money for speeding of dev and more manpower, take my money.

I am ready for purchase for DCS. but, give it back my hawk. I think now early access modules not different with Hawk.

    나의 SM-G930S 의 Tapatalk에서 보냄

The difference is ED is still here, the Dev of your Hawk run away with your money and refused to give ED the source/required material to complete the mess they left behind after running away. So, get over it or "hunt" the former Dev down and annoy them with your Hawk.

  16. QuiGon' date=' I know I am not, [b']but I was wondering about where it stands now.[/b]

    Thanks for useful contribution though...

Have a look into the "Mini Updates" threads by Wags. Last postings 03-31-2020 each:

So it looks like "soon" for the Hornet and not so soon for the Viper.

I know this is not a fair comparison, however X-Plane has released their Vulkan Beta. Using a 2080 Super, I'm getting an increase of just over 5% FPS. X-Plane indicated that Nvidia users weren't going to see a huge increase in performance. AMD users are reporting a bit more in performance based on what I've read in the XP forums. Again, for whatever this is worth. I wouldn't expect Vulkan to be the game changer some folks are hoping for.

Interesting how different the experiences can be
