  1. man, the pool results has got hornet (shit - ask to navy pilots) first and TOMCAT second... please, tomcat.... it would be awesome to do rolling and vertical scissors all the time to beat the maneuvering enemy... tomcat....
  2. I always asked myself, why there aren't flight simulators on PC that, even with huge hardware, can reach the graphic level of Ace Combat Zero (also with hundred of fighters, choppers, vehicles, flaks, bullets, missiles at the same time, and in low level flight). The graphic perfection of this title, also in particular light conditions such as dawn and night, is spettacular. But all on hardware like PS2, wich have a GPU less powerful than any GPU of 4 years ago. I never understood.
  3. thanks to every one. the 'miracle'... I don't now. I didn't installed Vista, I continued testing with GPU overclock. The sim works when: - I disable Windows Aero, and I set an 'hig contrast black and white desktop' (only 23 mb of gpu's ram); - nvidia settings: "let the 3d application to decide"; - sims'resolution: 1024x768m low settings, and also medium!! I can't understand now, suddendly, it works (before, also with this tweaks didn't work). I did a mistake, leaving sim's settings to HIGH, and it worked too, even with some leak sometimes. My 8400M GS's core is G86 =( Yes, I know, my computer is bad for simulation. As soon as I sell the HGU-33, I'll sell my pc so I can buy another pc, this time BEFORE buying, I'll ask to you all what will be the best configuration to have minimum 60 fps in the baddest condition (low level flight with thousands of foghters, vehicles, missiles, bullets and smoke haha), at maximum quality of image, in 3 monitors... :smilewink: Mugenjin: I was talking about this: I did a comparison between differents sims, and expecially LOMAC and FC2. In LOMAC, when trying to pull down the FPS, at 24 or so I can feel the plane and what happens, and I can react using the stick, and I can feel the plane's reaction to my stick's movement. In FC2 I experienced that even if 24 fps or so was displayed, the things aren't so fluid, and I can't control the plane. Now it seems to work, at first crashed 3 or 4 times, but now seems to be ok, fluid and controllable, only few times there's some lags. I will do a test against good AI fighter, to see how it works with complex manuverings, smokes and flares, but now I'm in Rome, my HOTAS Cougar remained in my home at Brindisi... I have to wait 1 may... Frazer I will check FC2 and DCS tweak threads togheter the next week. Distiler I think that your gentiless maked the miracle possible
  4. miracle, range of 40-60 FPS, about 30-35 over the land (medium altitude), I did some dogfights, I tried also to use cannon against big slow movers aircaft and tried to get close shile flaming out. But even if fps are above 30, sometimes it seems fps are actually minor, 15 instead of 30 as described. This evening I'll try to do some carrier operation, and if ok I will try to do some hard dogfight to test. Dudes, I never tried quickstart: suddendly appears Tornados and Hornets, too many! =)
  5. No, I'm waiting for a Vista SP2 installation dvd, I already downloaded the drivers; maybe tomorrow. Now I'm going to do some other tests.
  6. mine is installed on different drive, but it doesn't work
  7. This is the screenshot of GPU-Z, showing the effect of the "foft mod" And this is the screenshot of GPU-Z showing the overclock's effects (not the maximum I reach) I repeat: the memory bus of 8400 and 8600 are the same, but in the 8400 it's limited to 64bit instead of 128bit; this, with different clocks, are the difference between 8400 and 8600.
  8. the 8400M GS and 8600M GS are the same, with the same memory bus; in the 8400M GS the memory bus is limited to 64 bit, but is possible to enhance it to 128 bit. here about the fps, I was talking about 24-25 can be acceptable, even if aren't the maximum. however in lomac even on 24 or 22 fps I can still control the plane, meanwhile in FC2 even with 25-28 fps the I can't control the plane, I think there's a problem beyond graphics
  9. I'm sorry, I have trouble with FPS, I tried all, overcloked the gpu, enhanced the ram bus width, tweaked the lua files as described in thi post... maybe the problem is tha my GeForce 8400M GS (upgraded to GeForce 8600M GS) has got 128 MB of dedicated RAM, 1GB turbocache. When I purchased FC2 i thought that turbocache was ok, but maybe it's the problem. How can i tweak the quality settings files to achieve a good fps performance, even with 128MB? thanks
  10. I made the recovery DVD the same day I received the cpmputer: the original OS installed was extra slow.... 5 minutes to boot.... my god! The day after I installe Xp (and it was a trouble to find the drivers) but even with only 2GB RAM, it worked very well with IL2 1946, LOMAC an X-Plane. Now I done a fresh installation of W7 Ultimate 32 Bit, and I found somewhere that the drivers for Vista and W7 was the same. Now, to do a fresh installation, it's a big trouble... I'll try tomorrow... Scipio
  11. my computer is described in the first post: HP DV6695EL, it comes with vista, i installed W7 Ultimate 32 bit, and also upgraded RAM to 4 GB (2x2GB) and installed a mod to use all 4 Gb instead of 3 GB. All driver correctly installed. the gpu is a GeForce 8400M GS 128MB, turbocache 1GB, with ram bus width enhanced to 128 bit and overclocked for maximum performance. I repeat, LOMAC works perfect, but FC2 doesn't. I can't understand what's the problem...
  12. thank you EtheraIN, the temperatures are under my continuos control; however, when overclocked the gpu reach the maximum temperature after 10 minutes of intensive 3d use (after hours of computer power on), and also after 1 hour of 3d use the temperature remains below 70°C; the declared nVidia temperature of slow-down is above 120°C; the driver automatically shut down the gpu (and the system restores the driver with default clocks) if there're some trouble (I experimented). I'm seriously consider to sell my license, to buy the FC1 one (if the requirements of FC1 are the same of LOMAC as I found over internet)...:helpsmilie:
  13. please don't use humorism or so, I can'y understand these tickness because I'm Italian. I spent 22 € to buy the software, for my mistake I thought that my hardware was ok, but after I discovered that the turbocache is slow and maybe the gpu isn't ok. I don't find the money on the ground, and 22 € are about a work day's pay. Now I want to understand how to fix it if is it possible, thanks to everyone who want to help me. Carlo
  14. yes it's possible, I found on an italian forum how to do a low-level hardware tweaking eith the software RivaTuner: now the driver think that my card is a GeForce 8600M GS, so I can alter the memory bus width to 128 bit, and I also overclocked the GPU frequencies using ATITool, having impressive results in LOMAC. The human eye can't feel any visual stimulus that happens in a time smaller than 0,35 seconds (approx), I remember from school. However, I tried to puul down fps in LOMAC to 24 or below, and I can still control the aircraft with no problems.
  15. I also edited the files, as described in the "FC 2.0 FPS Tweaks/MODs" thread.
  16. i tried, but nothing to do. There are difference between low/medium/high quality settings (I'm talking about FC2's settings), but almost for cockpit, lands and a bit for the plane, I can notice that the nose cone it's not a cone, but a pyramid. I also enlarged the GPU's memory interface, from 64bit to 128bit, and also overclocked the core, memory and shader frequencies: in LOMAC I've got an FPS bunch even to 100-120 FPS, but in FC2, even with lowest settings, I can't fly. I tried to overload the gpu with the desktop (in W7 the aero desktop took 100mb, and when I fly I set the normal desktop wich tooks 23mb) and some applications, to experiment what happens when LOMAC's fps goes below 24 (that is the minimum fps for our eyes), and I noticed that also with 20 fps is acceptable. In FC2, with maximum performance and minimum quality, also with 25-30 fps it seems too slow and not fluid. What's the problem?
  17. That's a mistake: is more gpu-expensive flying over the land, than over the ocean. Bit even with the Su-33 over the ocean, at 1'500 feet, fps are <30, and as soon I move my head or I touch the stick.... drops down to 8 or even 0 fps. Now I'm doing some tests
  18. do you saying that using F-15 airborne, is less gpu-expensive than Su-33? but i bought FC2 just to splash down all US Fighters using the Terminator's brother.... I will try F-15 quickstart and also the fix mod explained in the other topic. Thanks to all, but there will be a solution, or I have to sell my FC2 license...
  19. I hope the AirForce contest will go well, so I'll train on SF.260 this summer... and will became Typhoon pilot...
  20. I got the latest nVidia drivers 197.16 (not 197.13) and DirectX11. I don't understood the folder problem... FC2 is installed in E:\Programmi\...\Flaming Cliffs 2\; the E:\ drive is a second partition, the main partition is C:\ I checked also the FC2's temp folder, and it's on the same drive, the same folder. The options you told me Damli, I tried it: no mirrors and all options low quality. my g**.... I don't know if is it possible to change my 8400m with the new 8800M GTS...
  21. I run the sim at 1024x800. The CP usage during flight was below 40%. What do you say? 8400M GS is extremly slow? I Purchased this notebook expecially for flight simulation... :joystick: I tried also this: either graphic card and simulator's option at maximum quality; the quality of the Su-33 on the flight deck is similar to the Falcon 4 Open Falcon graphics... I think that there's something not working
  22. FIRST: I NOTICED THAI I POSTED ON THE WRONG SECTION, I had different pages opened at the same time and I confused the help-desk of Lock On with Problems&Bugs of DCS... I'm sorry, and I ask moderators to move this thread. Thanks... @graywo1fg I will try the fix you linked, thanks. I don't have a memory leak: when I did the tests with the simulator, I always checked with Windows Performance Monitor (i don't know the name in English, my SO is Italian), and the memory usage history had not any peak. When the simulation starting, the amount change about 300 Mb or so. In flight, the total RAM usage is anout 1300 MB or so, and there are 2700 MB free, so it's not a RAM issue. I tried with minimum quality settings, mirrors disabled, graphic card with all filters disabled but nothing. With LOMAC, at maximum quality (also setted in graphic card) the performance is excellent.
  23. Hy, I just bought FC2 2 days ago, but after hours of trying I can't fly anymore. I tried with minimum quality settings either simulator and graphic card, but nothing. My configuration: Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit CPU Intel Core Duo T7700 2.4 GHz 4 GB RAM (full 4 GB available) nVidia GeForce 8400M GS, 1919 GB Ram (128 MB dedicated) I tried also to disable windows aero, disable all antisotropic, antialias etc., and I tried to fly my Su-33: it's impossible to fly at 15 fps, often 5 and sometimes 2 or even 0!!! With this hardware I can fly LOMAC with maximum quality settings (either in simulator and graphic card), with excellent performance. I also noticed that even if I set maximum quality either in simulator and graphic card, in Flaming Cliffs 2 the quality is poor, relative to LOMAC. What's the problem? Thank you everyone, Scipio
