    Imagine... (EDGE)

Yeah thats a nice vision! I think it is not that unlikely that they use a terrain model bases on a sphere, that is not limited to represent a special area (black sea or nevada). There was a recently a discussion about the world rendering engine outerra and "Wags" sad that EDGE will outperform it. Its not unlikely that we get the whole world with all its oceans and a realistic height map of the land masses, but without streets, rivers, city and other details. It could be more like the empty krim-penisula in the north-west of the current map. Once a special area is modeled it could replace the existing empty part. Yeah it should be possible to ED and partners to extend the area every on small increments, so we get some 1000km² with every update. :-) Keep on dreaming!! Its the engine of progress!
  2. Look at this: http://outerra.blogspot.de/2012/03/road-tool.html Maybe we get those tools oneday for DCS-World They even have 3d waves Realtime Cratures This would be a nice effect in DCS when a plane tries to land on a bombed runway Low level flight, maybe interesting for DCS: Killer Bee Look at these rocks its almost photorealistic. Seasons : This engine rockxx! Fingers crossed and don't forget:
  3. I guess there is 3rd option: You can try to perform the serialization in a seperate thread, in this way the lua-executing thread would not block. You could try to implement is as an coroutine (async-operation)-> http://lua-users.org/wiki/CoroutinesTutorial
  4. I guess this bug is a duplicate of this http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=97281
  5. When AGM-86's are dropped from high altitude, they start a deadly steep dive. In the end they can't recover the dive an crash.
  6. The title of the thread is "Community Development Team Announcement", what part can the community play? Is the team closed, is the source open? Its there an public team site?
  7. Right is not impressiv in terms of customization, its pure functional and durable. Made for a long project live, independent from private persons ;-). Okay okay, back to the drawing board, lets define some criteria for a project site...
  8. Thinking about a team name, some buzzwords come to mind with pro and cons: + Open (to describe the open/free availabily of contents produces by the team in contrast to closed source) + Community (yes we are a Team) ? DCS (maybe there are some legal issues in using this brand) - Mod (does the project only mod things, no its about creating new stuff) - Project (it should be clear that this is a project so this word should be obsolet)
  9. I guess a Project-Host-Server is needed anyway to manage the source-code,3d-models, textures & docs. Such a project also needs a ticket/bug management system and discussion groups (public) and a wiki. Edit: http://code.google.com is a good overall solution
  10. I think it is essecial to keep such a initiativ open sourced, if we want to release something. This means everything should be open and available for every one how want to contribute content (textures, 3d models, code,...). The project should be hosted at a public space somewhere in a cloud not a private server. The first project should be a simple plane, why not start with a sailplane? Make baby step, fall often and learn fast :-). Lets roll!
  11. @Gecko6 Great idea to start a open public community project! I am great fan of the open source idea and ED products since Flanker 1.0. Since 12years i am developing business apps time to contribute to fun project! Lets create a project at googlecode or sourceforge, yeehaa!
  12. I'am a bit confused about all the Albatros models around. Is yours a derivate of Zei's or HungaroJET's L-39 or a complete new thing? ^ HungaroJET ^ Zei
  13. Thank you for your reply! I am running a vanilla Win7, the swapping settings are untouched. Can you reproduce the bug, i attached a miz-file? Btw. a Stack Overflow Error is not a cache or swap file realted error. This error occures when the call stack is too high and runs out of space, eg. in a infinite recursion. The call stack memory is normally not cached or even swapped, because it is not allocated on the heap-space. Caching the call stack would slow the performance down cause changes on the call stack are quite frequent.
  14. The attached mission crashes the application because of an Stack Overflow. Version: BS2 v1.1.1.1 For detailed OS and System Infos take a look at the OS-Logs inside the ZIP-File. Windows also generated a 28MB '.mdmp' File which is not included, i can upload it if needed. Happy Fixing! Logs.zip New Mission.miz
  15. The mission editor should create a stack of warnings, when the user constucts cases that are unreasonable. E.g: If one assign a "Ground Attack"-Task to a Tu-22, load Kh-22 Missles on it, and let it attack a "Map-Object" (see Advances Waypoint Actions) a warning should be created, saying something like: "it doesn't work because the Kh-22 can attack only narval targets" I think it should be possible, if it is known what missile can be uses in which context. Maybe we, the community can write a LUA-script for the editor, and solve this issue by ourself. @all Any Ideas about other use cases, or about the LUA-Script?
  16. Some photos of the syrian defense minister on the kuz http://www.spiegel.de/fotostrecke/fotostrecke-77162.html
  17. What is more important to you: A correct Software or additional Featues ?
  18. @Admin Please delete this Thread ! @All The corrected thread with poll can be found here : http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=83931
  19. I like the idea of cubes with different calculation levels! I think this could add a new dimension for heli-operations in high mountains. If the weather engine is able to calculate up- and downwind in a vally, one could use it the upwind to climb higher for example. Hmm... as a software developer i think this is no big problem, because the algorithm can be forked on many cpu-cores. I don't know it the DCS-Engine use all available cores, i think they use not much parallel operations (maybe UI and Model caculation), so it would be interesting to see such weather engine in DCS. Fingers crossed :-)
  20. Yes its true ... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1748269/ http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Tony-Scott-Says-Top-Gun-2-Won-t-Be-A-Remake-Or-A-Reinvention-21386.html and they will fly UAV's :) !
  21. Yeah that's 99.99% perfect !! It is the T10-3, if you take a look a the first picture, you can see the arrestor hook (well it's a bit hard to see). The pictures are take from a youtube video, about the NITKA-Complex and russian carrier trials. In that video you can see also the T10-25, a Su-27 with hook but without canards. If i remember the URL i will post it.
