Monopolies are never good, notwithstanding ED's plans for amalgamation. In a much more extreme but related story, the poor dears on the Board at Microsoft are going to take a pay cut this quarter because of shareholder dissatisfaction, so have pity because they're also suffering. It also forces alot of people to be conformist because they don't have any other options, and say fanboy things. After Black Shark and A-10C, the cost and quality graphs are going the wrong way. If you want that, well maybe, but that's extra. Can I have water, but no lemon, please -- that's extra.

Wow, kind of did the Sybil thing on that one. Honestly I recently bought the Huey because of a looming credit card issue, not because I was so eager to get the Huey, otherwise probably would have delayed purchasing it for quite a while. FC3 was unsettling and seemed more like a an ad hoc series of disconnected patches, rather than something completed or extraordinarily different from FC2. Starting to imitate churning. Gonna have to think hard about upcoming modules or wait for the price appropriate discount.

Don't recall when it went down. All I know is that the whole world went to shit after Frugalsworld went down (not trying to be facetious).

"The team is also hard at work on many updates and changes to our world rendering system, which will allow us to make new and much more detailed worlds than we have now, including the Nevada map. We hope to have these changes in place before the end of the year." @Sim"FreaK": By the way, if that is your level of humor, I would suggest keeping your day job.

Nice announcement. And if the terrain gets much more complicated to include Nevada - Wow.

When we know something about DCS:FXXC?
Wolf One replied to fedor's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I just hope these titles are developed wholly internally, without any sort of outsourcing no matter how compelling, persuasive or convenient that may seem. If you need something done ... -
Haven't seen your track, but with the F-15C in its current form, try spamming, i.e. really two missiles, otherwise you're going to have to learn some really advanced tactics, which probably means joining a squad to become truly proficient. Other than that, try BFM'ing with a Mirage on excellent setting without external views and not getting low on fuel

Hello - I am having problems with the mini Hud in FC3. There is no pitch ladder when viewing to the side, only down axis of aircraft itself. This is not the situation in FC2. Unfortunately, some of us who purchased the item do not have or use Track IR, so this becomes a BFD.
-
Sorry if this has been asked before, and not sure if this is indeed a bug, but the flight path ladder in the mini HUD is missing in FC3 aircraft (present in FC2), except when along the aircraft axis itself. Could be a limitation or indication. Only the waterline symbol is available, and also no VV. Don't know if this is really considered an "assist" or HMCS analogue, although some "credible" sources regard it as a useful tool. Only use it occasionally, and sparingly, mainly because I still find some contraptions for tracking buggy, requiring constant adjustment or profile change. But without the ladder scale, doesn't help situational awareness much.

Unfortunately, sometimes simply being a contrarian for the sake of being a contrarian can have unwanted consequences. Sometimes the crowd is actually telling you something. -

I'm not saying that SFAL is a military mastermind, but he may be making a point with some underlying validity worth at least some mitigating consideration, which might be applicable particularly in other theaters of operation. -

As capable as the F-15C is, which I find admirable, I have to agree with SFAL just on this particular point, in that the F-15C, undeniably, and almost certainly has been used largely in scenarios against hardware that is suboptimal or not current, in an environment with less sophisticated communications, support or logistics, and likely IADS systems that are less formidable than they could be. Awesome machine nonetheless. -

I can never subscribe to the philosophy that something is just too sophisticated to implement and would pose an unfair advantage to others. That's like being the smartest kid with Down's syndrome, or the fastest runner at the Special Olympics. There are indivduals here who undoubtedly operate very well in air combat. But the pure interceptor role is definitely lacking. Without the interceptor, things would be carnage for the rest, and other pieces of the puzzle would simply be in shambles. You have to establish control over the air before you can do anything else in an organized way. Have dedicated servers or setups for 15 on 15 engagements and see what you do. Sometimes it really is more about the ride than the destination. The P-51 is like that, although I do enjoy it. The A-10C, for example, is not supersonic, but I can appreciate it simply for being good at what it does. -
FC3 Aerial Refueling scripted?

FC3 Aerial Refueling scripted?
Wolf One replied to Steel Jaw's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I suppose that at the quantum level ultimately everything is discrete and scripted. The uncertainty may be about the current state of the theory. While I find discussions of missile dynamics not just informative, but educational as well, I am not sure how much of that is implemented in FC3, such as lofting. No target step, and reports of aircraft being neutered, is unfortunate. Surprisingly, and it is with heavy feeling, conflict and much personal disdain, that at times I still find myself compelled to consult elsewhere for more advanced air to air operations at present.
