  1. This is correct - if the $75K isn't raised, those of us who supported the initiative have our pledges cancelled. No money changes hands.
  2. Hi all, My build-out for my new sim-computer is well underway, and I have made a few decisions, but have some questions around graphics sub-systems. This PC is going to be used for only a few things - flight simulation (FSX/Prepar3D and DCS) and for my amateur radio interests (monitoring and VHF/UHF/HF). As a result, I am struggling on what monitor configuration to go with, what monitors to choose, and what video card to get. The CPU I have selected is one of the new Haswell chips, and I'm planning to toss in piles of RAM, alongside a SSD primary drive, and a couple of HDD secondary drives for data. At the moment, an Intel/NVIDIA setup is my preferred configuration. In short, a multiple monitor configuration is really helpful for amateur radio, but I'm ambivalent to it for simulations. On the other hand, if I go multiple monitors, I need to choose a graphics card that will drive all of them (I suppose I don't have to, but if I have multiple monitors, I'll want to). As a result, I'd love to hear people's experience with multiple monitors, what size and resolution to go with, and what graphics cards are needed to properly drive the system. What resolution works best for sims these days? 27" versus 23" size? 2560 vs. 1920? One versus two versus three monitors? My preference is either a single monitor or three monitors (my wife might not agree, though!) I have an Apple Cinema Display (27") for my Mac that I like a lot, but it's too big for games and simulations, I think, so a 23" seems like a better setup. Thanks very much for your suggestions and feedback!
  3. It's dead. Unless something dramatic happens in the next 72 hours, it won't go. Too bad, I supported it and was looking forward to it.
  4. Hi Home Fries, Thanks very much for the details on this. I have the Simped F-16+ game port pedals, so it looks like I'll install both the Vista drivers and the TARGET package. I don't have the Cougar MFDs, but am seriously looking at them, as they look quite cool. I'm really interested in external monitors for them, so am snooping that out as well. Thanks very much!
  5. OK - thanks very much for the information! Appreciate the clarification! It would be cool to have them connected - a good marketing strategy, though a small one!
  6. Hi there, I just took advantage of the great summer sale for the DCS software, and was wondering how I could have the icons at the top of the forum convert from having the dollar sign on them, to showing that I have purchased each of the software packages? I'm not sure if that's even possible, but am curious, so thought I would ask. Thank you!
  7. Hi everyone, I'm getting back into flight simulations in a serious way, but need a new computer to actually do anything with it. While I get that part sorted out, I was wondering about my HOTAS Cougar that I intend to use. My Cougar is heavily modified, with the Uber2NXT gimbals, CubPilot's hall sensor modifications, IJ's speed brake and dogfight switch housings, the screw handle mods, and IJ's Uber Throttle Modifications. I've also got a set of Simped F-16+ pedals I plan to use as well. Of course, I'd like to continue to use this hardware which should still be in working order! That said, I am planning to use Windows 7 64-Bit as my operating system, and would like to know what software I need to install to use the Cougar. Is the new TARGET system enough, or do I still need to use the old Vista drivers? That seems the root of the question so far - would appreciate any suggestions! I am sure I will have more hardware questions to come - thanks for any information you can provide!
  8. Lock On: Platinum: New Printed Manual? Hi all, Any word on whether we can expect a new printed manual to go along with Lock On: Platinum? I know there's a Flaming Cliffs manual out and I actually have a copy of Nic Cole's LO:MAC manual from years ago, so if one isn't planned, I'd like to suggest one similar to the KA-50 manual that was so incredibly well done. Thoughts? WR
