I havent been constant at all with developments, is that applying too to sims especially ED titles ?
-
From what i recall though from the days FSX was fresh (besides size) RAM clocks are helping significantly FSX
-
So if i understood right, is it the in-game settings that made the main difference giving those impressive framerates?

Any suggestions maybe on how to utilize best this CPU for DCS / FC3 ? Or if maybe theres no worth gain in doing anything more than to run this CPU everything stock (HT enabled, stock intel turbo, all cores enabled, no affinity changes for DCS / FC3, no clocks increase etc)
-
count me too

Its only because of UBISOFT. Legal matter blaming solely UBISOFT (initial publisher of LOMAC)
-
which is higher than "pro" next DCS will be Decepticon CH-53

including me :D

My 5850s are very quiet ... On load they will ocassionaly increase fan rpms but not to something loud, but still its not continuous and also its an audible indication for me about the load status and that the fan system works (no unpredictable dangerous temp risings) Hey, whats wrong with my i7 880 ? :D :P is there a chance 7870 would be more noisy than 5850s? Yes Cats are a mess story and CF probably a lost cause for users like me who are more in driving and simulations but occasional shoot'em-up / strategy. (replacing it with a single card will free up PSU resources to OC maybe my CPU, combined, i can maybe have some noticeable smoothness improvement on ED titles) Are there any DCS / FC3 issues like flickers / glitches, (eg like the horizon bandings with cloud shadows enabled in FC2, or the clouds flickering with CF) specific to Nvidia or Ati ?

660Ti & 7950 are beyond my budget :( looks like its going to be either vanilla 660 or 7870 i guess?. Nvidia or Ati for DCS / FC3 ?

Not Nvidia?

It has been long time since i last OCed my i7 880 (and / or played an ED title) and i have totally forgotten how i OCed the thing. If i remmember correctly the 3.73 GHz max turbo freq is achieved with load on a single core? (edit: yes. the scaling factor scheme is '5,4,2,2," -> 3059 (stock clock) + (133 x factor) = Turbo freq. for active cores: "1,2,3,4". Or multiplier increase over the stock multi (23x) as + "5,4,2,2" meaning a 28x multiplier with turbo when one core is active. Note, disabling HT lowers the maximum Turbo multi by one (28x->27x), at least on my system. ) What you estimate would be the minimum OC that would add at least around 10fps increase : Just runing ED titles on a single (3.73 GHz turbo) or two cores (3.60 GHz turbo) would be enough or is necessary to have a full time OC on all cores and in that case what would be the minimum freq necessary to make a worth difference in performance and again would be worth running in only 2 or 1 core ? Thanks :)

What single cards are advised for replacing my HD5850 Crossfire, that will offer noticeably better performance in ED titles compared to a single HD5850 and similar to 2x5850 performance in mainstream titles ? (I hear that most of you favor Nvidia for ED?) Budget: 250 euros max (~ 320 USD / 200 GBP ? ) Thanks

I personally dig any FC ... Getting decent F-15, MiG-29 in the DCS world? thumbs up. My favorite fancies are Fulcrum & Flanker, for Flanker i believe we will soon be able to slip-on the great third party model and eye-candy available for FC2 so me happy. (same with the A-10A , which 80's style i prefer over A-10C :P. Hope only there was some nice HiRes makeover of its pit like the nice ones available for FC2 F-15 & Flanker) It would be great if all the old low-poly models of FC would had been or to be replaced with updated ones, on par with the DCS world level of 3D models. Maybe they have? I havent gotten the FC3 yet, i will wait for the boxed version (i will support the boxed editions market as much as i can, even if i buy download will always get also boxed)

oh yes right i forgot, the fuclrum is cool for ages now. correct :)

LOL !!

crossfire ? :D
-
i really hope they will update the 3D models , the Eagle & Hog look new but the Flanker and Fulcrum .......

blah blah blah Crossfire support?

Do we know if there would be any improvements regarding Crossfire ?

but ... it is a fact, that i speculate

Maybe i have missed this, and its somewhere out there, correct me if i am wrong. What i want to suggest to ED (and helping stuff) is to add a little more face and some connection with the community. For example an about page in the dcs / fc sites with some photos and bios of the people involved, and more interestingly some interviews space in the site and / or the forum, for example i am interested (as others) about for example how the roadmap decisions are / have been made, the story behind the decision for the P-51 for example etc It would be a lot more appealing and internally satisfying i think for the buyers - community / supporters but for all the people involved in creating these products too i believe to have some form of connection with a face among both ends. I always liked to consider simmers rather like a big friendly international hobby company of fellows with a lot in common :) i believe it would be a big step forward to alter the current image of lets say a mystery unaproachable team working hard somewhere in Russia, Matt has been doing a good job in the direction but its the only person i can recall right from the top of my head. I remember the good old days of printed manuals and material and nice boxes sim software was coming with, and this photo of the whole ED-TFC team somewhere in there. Personally, i believe its making a difference. We live a lot virtually, spending so much time of our lives in front of faceless screens although they do connect us verbally in a global scale and allows us to share with eachother our interests , enthusiasm and fun. Investing on more face i think its always a good thing, as theres definitely more to life than bits and bytes :) Theres passion involved in this thing, especially regarding creators. Passion shouldnt be faceless :) Most probably though there are many practical reasons making my suggestions maybe difficult to implement, like limited time and energy resources left for lets say "PR" and that is ofcourse understood and respected. I jus't don't know though how's the situation so nothing to lose just stating a thought or two on this. :) So, just wishing for less corporate, more friends :) (in appearances at least LOL) Thanks ED and everybody for keeping us such an exciting (although bugy LOL) company for so many years - I always remember that night (93-94 i think) i bought this british magazine with a cd full of demos from a kiosk, and the awe and excitement when faced the Su-27 Demo on the office pc (it would be still some years later when i'd manage to have my own first home PC) - how exciting the head tracker mode was and never got bored of the demo mission of intercepting the two Mig-29s before they bomb the AB ....
