You have to define Bad mate, many many ill informed debates about weght of fire, ballistics, types of round, range etc. Remember, especially when talking rear gunners, the likely attacker is coming head on into a "hail" of fire. At night and depending on the unts preference for tracer ratios (standard 1 to 4) your flying into a cone of fire. At the very least its going to be off putting. If effective your aircraft is taking a disturbing amount of hits. Clearly a .50 individual round is going to hit with more energy (energy = damage, in very simple terms, its more complicated in reality) but a .30 turret has a greater "beaten zone" so your more likely to get hits. A fighter getting hit is a less effective weapon. The .50 cal rose turrets did introduce early gun laying radar but where numerically rare. The 4 gun Nash turrets where a feature of Lancs, Halifax, Wellington and Stirlings, prolific yes, bad I would argue not.
Just happen to of hit one my favourite subjects.

And with the lanc will it be the version with the rearward .50's instead of the inadequate .303's ?
Cheers Elijah
Yup Cyclic rate of 4800 rpm combined or 80 rounds a second, wholly inadequate.....commence the heated debate :)

Quick conversion of my previous skins. Pretty much the same except XX number and Tail code. Enjoy...
Edit Note...I spent a little time correcting errors notably the two Grills on the top of the fuselage, a litte shading and some of the Cam scheme alignment. If you downloaded this then get it again and replace with the one below (same name)

Well McMerry Christmas to you the noo too Dave . Given that your exiled in Gods own county of Durham and I'm stuck down South, have a little extra Pressie. All 4 skins the Two More Greeny Grey Green "Tachawks" now with added and better placed tail codes and pylons you need a wingman mate ! Also the other two Browny Green RGB ones (which you probably already have) but with pylon dds's too.....though Im not sure where the pylon files go as they are coming up white ??
Going to start on some other Squadrons too, having a blast with this, thanks all

No no all criticism comment welcome. The Dark green is a sort of Olive muddy green. If you look at period photos this pretty much the right effect. I think the problem is that everyone has a different graphics card monitor and settings so what looks right on mine, might not on yours and vice versa. The Tachawk colours where sampled from a colour print, where as the last two skins where coloured using a reference chart to enter the correct RGB values. It's a matter of choice or taste I suppose. I can do a couple of tail codes in the Tachawk scheme as well if you'd like.
Cheers and thanks for the feedback

Right settled me mind on it, the RGB colours take it, much more effective/realistic. So for your Tactical Delight a Brace of 63 Squadron Hawks tail codes 263 and 256. I love this Hawk . Right now I can stop hogging this thread.

OK so domestic Pre Christmas taskings complete to the satisfaction of the Domestic Commander :music_whistling:
So I set about a bit of refining. Looked up the RGB values of the Dark Sea Grey/Dark Green scheme. I must say it does look a bit more subdued and warlike/weatherbeaten. I do like the scheme I originally did though the colours where a bit of a guess and sample from images. No doubt they will look different on everyone's PC with different graphics cards, settings, screens etc. So a comparison phot. Thoughts gents ? I will edit with the files for your enjoyment shortly

Thanks Joey, once I got the hang of the Model viewer its a lot easier and quicker to get things lined up, thanks for the tip !

Nearly there lads. 63 Squadron/ No2 TWU out of RAF Chivenor 1981, the tail code 256 is a little high but so far so good. This is a pleasant way to spend a Sunday. In fact sod it heres the files. Have a look lads would welcome some pointers, now to get low level through the valleys

Must admit never tried the model viewer think Im missing a trick
How do I get it up and running ??

You're opinion of mp is not a shared one Nick yet you make out mp doesn't work because of DCS.
Have you considered something your end such as any mods you've added?
How about letting on your system specs and which OS you are using, 64bit?
Im not representing everyone mate, and far from being naive in the ways of the online issue, simple fact is prior to patch it worked after it didnt. No mods no tinkering so no havn't considered that as its not relevant.
I'm not sure what to make of your openings statement by the way, you might want to address that, the tone could easily be mis-interpreted by some in this ambigous faceless environment.
respectfully

(Originally posted in Multiplayer section)
So prior to todays patch I had one patch worth of MP action, extended load times but first time in a long while MP has even worked for me.
After 1.2.12 today all back to the same failed attempts. Tried several servers and had the same result, extended loading mission time (I can live with that) followed by "DCS has stopped working blah blah blah.

Actually this is probably the the wrong section, could it be moved admin please

Yeah I di t know if its a bug :music_whistling: but on the VA server Hawks seem to be magnetically drawn into formations. Well mine does! and the 100/80/20 stick setting you mentioned online Chris works for me.

Excellent couple of hours in the company of you chaps, very enjoyable experience. Nice to hear you talking enthusiastically about your Jet and taking time to help us with how to fly and fight it. First class service.
cheers Nickmow (Gibson on DCS)

HAWK v1.2.14 Install Problems
in Installation and Activation
Posted
Did it create and install itself to Programs(x86)/eagle dynamics/DCS World etc etc ? and did you then copy and paste those files to your actual install ?
