dunno, i had zero issues and the usual performances with windows 11 and the 2.7.6.13436 Open Beta. Even before the microsoft fix and the updated chipset drivers
-
in my opinion if you have a fairly strong gpu and usually cap the game at 60 fps there is no way you are able the see any degradation my gpu is quite weak and i have nearly zero loss of performance in the heaviest situations (marianas, big cities at very low altitude, on ground at huge airports with lots of units) but a massive 50fps loss at high altitude with external cam and only sky and my plane rendered.
-
new patch makes zero difference on my system, still getting around 20- 30% fps loss cleaned metashader/fxo and shader cache on windows and amd drivers before launching, short track uploaded. Very short and simple track, basically no ai, just flying straight. dcs.log test patch 2810.trk options.lua
-
can confirm, even if my gpu % usage remained high i see an average of 20 watt less of power used
-
i didnt use GI before but i can still see the 10-15 fps degradation In my case the loss is very little to not-existing in heavy scenes (like on the ground in syria, marianas run the same as last update) but in very light scenes it is huge. In F2 camera, with only sky to render and my plane my pc was capable of 144fps with vsync. Now only 90. That's almost a 50 fps loss.
-
worse, for me the loss is 10to15 fps at low altitude and more than 30-40 at high altitude I tried the usual metashader/fxo and deleted options.lua and redid the settings from scratch, no difference. I am on windows 11, amd cpu and gpu but the previous build ran without issues, maybe it is related? My system is a bit dated but i am running quite conservative settings. All the usual stuff, game and paging file on nvme ssd, 32 gb ram and game folder exception on antivirus. I have no stuttering at all, just lower fps at the same settings using the free flight mission, f18 on caucasus-syria-persian gulf. dcs.log DxDiag.txt

There is some small degradation for me, nothing major but it is visible Right now there are two issues with amd processors Cppc is not working as intended. Normally if you run any single threaded workload (wink wink ) windows choose the fastest core on the cpu, the one capable of higher boost clock. Not working at the moment. L3 cache latency is huge right now, triple the usual value. Again, very important in games and memory intensive applications. Microsoft and amd are aware of this and a patch is expected shortly.

that's a lot of gpu for 1080p getting decent gains with this shader mod https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3317762/ 5-10fps more and better gpu usage in general, visuals are mostly the same for me. Marianas is still 30fps or less even at 720p everything set on low, no trees no shadows, nothing and empty mission. A new gpu is becoming necessary but out of the question for now, i can only find rtx 3060 for 800eur or more. The current market situation is absolutely unreal..

well, this is already happening in a way these are the (really hefty) system requirement for the marianas map MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS (LOW graphics preset settings): OS 64-bit Windows 8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Core i5+ at 3+ GHz or AMD FX / Ryzen; RAM: 16 GB (32 GB for heavy missions); Free hard disk space: 120 GB on Solid State Drive (SSD); Discrete video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 / AMD Radeon RX VEGA 56 with 8GB VRAM or better; Joystick; requires internet activation. RECOMMENDED SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS (HIGH graphics preset settings): OS 64-bit Windows 8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Core i5+ at 4+ GHz or AMD FX / Ryzen; RAM: 16 GB (32 GB for heavy missions); Free hard disk space: 120 GB on Solid State Drive (SSD); Discrete video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 / AMD Radeon RX VEGA 64 or better; Joystick; requires internet activation. RECOMMENDED VR SYSTEMS REQUIREMENTS (VR graphics settings): OS 64-bit Windows 8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Core i7-9700 / AMD Ryzen 3700X or better; RAM: 32 GB; Free hard disk space: 120 GB on Solid State Drive (SSD); Discrete video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2080 Ti / AMD Radeon RX 5700 or better; Joystick; requires internet activation.

Yes, i believe this is correct

Polaris (rx470-480-580) cards are very much bandwidth constrained, forcing msaa from drivers is mostly the same. It is just too expensive. You can inject smaa with reshade, it looks a bit worse but it is practically free and better than nothing.
-
same gpu here, running with similar settings but normal 1920x1080/no msaa i get 45to70 fps, Mostly 60-70 on caucasus and close to 45-55 syria. Remove msaa, it is the worst performance hit for me.

ok, just copied your settings an started the track https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NoMqIHR8Qc_e7G6VUpca0EXkS9TnWeGw_gkAce7xYCQ/edit?usp=sharing average 33 fps, goes as low as 27. Thank you for the track, i made a detailed csv of the replay here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1EkA0dBrXkHLVsssqXG-C3ZspiTgv-9LbhzHniZ7AUS0/edit?usp=sharing in short FPS: between 40 and 60 FPS. Average 48 RAM: ~26 GB was being used Vram: 8gb, all of it GPU: 60 to 100%, but average 98% CPU: between 11% and ~17%. Average 13% Resolution: 1920x1080 (no VR) Settings are a mix of medium-high without antialiasing Pc is: ryzen3600 / 32gb ddr4 3600mhz / rx480 8gb / dcs and pagefile on nvme ssd Not too bad i guess but the track was quite light. I have issues mostly over cities and large forests, i get 25-to 30fps on helicopters and any amount of antialiasing just cripple the perfomances to unplayable levels. 20210619-152047.CSV dcs.log
-
1080p, i tried 900p a while ago and the performance increase was small. Not worth for me, 1080p without antialising is already a bit of a mess
-
Well, like i said, i believe i am mostly GPU limited and yours is 2.5 to 3 times more powerful than mine and with more vram. Also Nvidia so much better dx11 drivers.
-
just reading this thread it seems that 2.7 runs better if you have a high end gpu and a recent cpu and play at very high settings. Those who are struggling are the ones playing with medium-high settings at 1080p on lower end systems. My system is a bit old (ryzen 3600, 32gb ram, nvme ssd and rx480 8gb) most of the time i am gpu limited but i have the same -25 30% less fps that others are reporting here.
-
how is performance with the last update? i have 32gb of ram and i was very confortable before now, especially with the a10 II i was just flying around in the instant action free flight in syria averaging 28gb, the peak was 31.2gb. Vram totally full too, 8.1 gbdcs.log
-
well, now stable and open beta are the same, major performance loss included
-
something changed for sure, now it crash before the loading just after pressing shift+r the error message is different 2021-05-27 18:08:12.737 ERROR VFS: VFS_open_write: CreateFile(): Unknown error 2021-05-27 18:08:12.737 ERROR DCS: can't open file dcs.log-20210527-180813.zip

can confirm this, i have the same beahviour

crahing again here, im afraid deleting caches is not the solution
-
We might be on to something here... So, there are 3 different shader cache: \AppData\Local\AMD\DxCache (and the nvidia equivalent here) \AppData\Local\D3DSCache \Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\fxo After deleting these caches and the fxo folder dcs regenerate fxo on first load and some new files are different. So far im not getting crashes, finger crossed. In amd/dxcache is immediately recreated a file around 8-9mb 015fc066da3d42e2bcbbd83cd59c3a0318fbc5187b53527d.bin, this is probabily caching dcs shaders

i believe Forest Details Factor and Scenery Details factor, while not visible before, defaulted at 1.0 in 2.5. Trees visibility is bit different, even on the same setting (i use 85%) and i agree 2.7 is a tad better. Look, im not saying "2.7 is the same but much heavier" but for me, mostly because my gpu is a bit old, the increase in graphical fidelity is not worth the performance loss.
