  2. I've been having some difficulties getting visual contact on aircraft while merging; this is particularly problematic for me in actual missions where I always seem to merge completely blind because I can't seem to spot the incoming aircraft, even if I know their altitudes and approximate azimuth. To demonstrate this, I made a custom mission. I've attached a full resolution (1440p) screenshot highlighting an Su-30 at 3.2 miles, which is clearly visible, and another screenshot at 2.4 miles, where I literally can't see anything. As reference, there is a second Su-30 a mile or so further back, which remains visible in both screenshots. As I continue to approach then I can start to make out the wings of the aircraft that I've got a lock on, but it seems to be more of a horizontal profile and very hard to see, especially if I don't know where it is. I'm not sure if others experience this or if it is purely related to my graphics settings?
  3. Cheers. That all makes sense with horizontal stabilization in RWS/TWS and relative attitude for ACM modes.
  4. I tried searching for this, but couldn't find anything. I noticed that the altitude range between the radar cursors doesn't change with the pitch of the jet (I'm running the latest stable version). For example, if I point the nose up 30 degrees, the altitude range between the cursors 20 miles away stays the same as if I were flying level. It seems to only be linked to the aircraft's altitude. I've never flown an F16 so I don't know how it really is, I always just assumed that radar elevation was with respect to the aircraft itself and not the aircraft's position in the environment, but I'm sure someone here can correct me if this assumption is wrong.
  5. I resolved the looseness by getting some tape with a smooth back and taping 2-3x around the throttle shaft where it contacts the rubber pad. I added a small amount of silicone lubricant to prevent sticking. Sticking damages the tape and after a week or so you no longer have smooth throttle operation. I have only tightened it to the point that it doesn't fall forwards and it has been fine so far. People have proposed more sophisticated approaches by gluing aluminium foil etc. but the tape is easily reversible and if I have to replace it after 6 months, so be it.
  6. Also, another screen capture I made, the issue is not as severe but it is at a lower altitude.
  7. I'll try, but it was flickering on and off and it was hard to capture the photo. I've attached the native resolution screen capture just in case it's more helpful.
  8. I play with 1440p (27" monitor) and mostly high settings (Vega 56) and find it really difficult to read the text on the MFDs/buttons in the standard cockpit view (specifically in the F16C). I have TrackIR and am constantly moving my head forward to read the altitudes on the radar or flip switches etc which works but I find kind of frustrating. I sit at a "normal" distance from the screen; my head is about 70-80cm away. I am planning on getting a larger monitor and the most obvious choice for me is a 32" (1440p or 4k) as I would prefer 16:9. I took a screenshot of the cockpit and enlarged it by 18% to simulate a 1440p 32" display. It definitely looked like a better size, but it almost seems like a 37" monitor would be ideal for improved cockpit readability, but such a size doesn't really exist. I was just wondering what experiences others had in this regards and was interested in feedback from people that made a transition from 27" to 32" or larger and how they found it, specifically with regards to readability in the cockpit.
  9. This was in the fighter sweep mission (Caucasus, F16C). I don't always have such issues, in fact it is quite rare, but this definitely stood out; it looks like every second tree has snow on it. This is with the latest stable version (25/12/20).
  10. Do you have an AMD graphics card? I noticed something similar on my machine and found that the maximum tessellation level was set to off in AMD Radeon Software. Setting this to 16x fixed it for me. Maybe there is a similar tessellation setting in the nVidia driver if you have another card?
  11. Wasn't sure where to ask this, but I could have sworn when I first installed the game my contrails looked more "continuous" and not "puffy". I've tried playing around with texture settings, but this doesn't seem to change. Am I crazy or is there something strange going on? For reference, I have a Vega 56 with mostly high graphics settings (medium for shadows and low for heat blur) with 2x MSAA @ 1440p.
  12. Hi, thanks for the response. Maybe I didn't use the correct term to describe the issue, but there should be a metal plate mounted in the base such that the adjustable ridges create the clicking/detent feel. This "plate" is not there; I am not sure why it was removed, because as you say, you can just rotate the rings to a non-functional position. Here is a photo of my base: https://ibb.co/wdZ0JW8
  13. Hi, I recently bought a second-hand Cougar HOTAS to fly the Viper and unfortunately the throttle detent plate wasn't built in. I've contacted the seller to see if it this part is somehow still available, but I'm guessing it is probably long gone. I definitely want this particular functionality for the throttle and wondered if someone with this plate could provide some detailed photos/dimensions, so that I could attempt to construct my own. Or furthermore, if someone does not want their detent plate, I'd be willing to buy it (I'm in Germany). Thanks.
