I use dilshan1994's Simplified Start-Up Guide.
Gets to the nitty-gritty
And I also made a Blog-Entry about the procedures

Here's my 2 bits - a Trimming Tutorial
-
Good work - very thorough
I was doing a Start-up routine this morning
Slightly different order of things but I like yours fine enough
-
Are these request by datalink?
What sort of threats are there and is he able to identify them 1st
I usually send my wingman out on Recon trips of a 2 to 5 kms - just to verify the targets
That might be a help
-
I do have a tutorial (with mission) - in a Blog Entry
But I forgot the obvious - Use 4 bombs rather than just 2 !!! I'll have to update my tutorial
Thanks for the video

re-install making sure you have Adninstration Rights
and that your final desktop shortcut has Adminstrator Rights
The install for Ka-50 is very solid and few people have problems
-
panel_options = require('me_options')
It seems that Black Shark is looking for the 'me_options.lua' file
'me' = Mission Editor Options .lua file
Is it missing? - do a search in the Ka-50 Folder

Any number of variations can be set up in this theatre including fantasy conflicts(between factions that would never in real life go to war)
Mainly Russia vs. Georgia
Insurgents (supported by various parties and solo - e.g. - Russian supported Abkhazia militia, Chechen terrorists, all sorts of small Caucasus conflicts)
Georgia (there have been disputes between Russia and Georgia - including an invasion of Georgia by Russia to "protect" South Ossetia)
U.S.A. (generally considered a Georgian Ally who might send troops and vehicles or sell vehicles to Georgia)
Turkey (Various disputes with insurgents)
The current map barely covers Central and East Georgia. With the A-10 compatability patch that area will open up.

Are you talking about re-arming during the mission?
For that you need to land, switch the comms to Ground Crew - that's a switch on the Left Panel about the Laser On/Off - and then get into the Comms Menu with [backslash]
and then choose Maintenance
-
Which mission?

You mean I'm going to have to do more than pimp my Blog??? :megalol:
Hello all,I notice that beyond half of the collective, it registers, and if I get it back to zero collective, I get a full register of movement. Is there something going on, knowing that I made the stick a slider in controls (since it is a thrust slider)
A few things you have to look at
1) Has the basic calibration been done in Windows? I had a hard time with my CH Fighterstick until I remembered  to do the Windows calibration
2) Is there Thrustmaster software that's not been set up correctly on the Slider? Might want to talk to some Thrustmaster people for a profile or at least a discussion.
3) Is that slider delicate enough to get you the exacting control you need. If it's a small slider with a small range, it might not be accurate enough
My purpose is to ask in this thread, whats the best collective output for hover hold, how to get the chopper in hover (note that sometimes I look at the HSI bubble and dont get a bullseye and that means I'm close to hover but I move the stick to center the lines but nothing...), and how to counteract the jerking on firing a KH-25ML or releasing a bomb or dropping a fuel tank? Are fuel tanks ignitable? (Can I arm them to be? --> far fetched??)
The best Collective for HoverHold is just the collective that keeps you at the same height as measured by the VVI - Velocity Velocity Indicator
That requires a delicate touch from the Collective
I usually move into a hover by tilting back, resetting trim for just a short period of time to reduce speed to Zero and when the Ka-50 is steady, clearing trim altogether[L.CTRL + T]. Then I hit the Hover Mode [L.ALT + T], lean the Ka-50 forward very slightly and I re-teim. I don't use any other instruments
If you hit [BACKSPACE] you also get a hover line (at less than 50 km) on the HUD - that can help you to slow down.
Fuel Tanks are not ignitable - as a guy surrounded by fuel-tanks, do you really want to be extra explody :)
Next comes the bomblets dispenser. This, and the rockets are far painful, not to mention the bombs, which I've tried before but couldnt hit.
Is there like a formula for dropping the bomblets or the rockets?
The real fire-power of the Ka-50 comes from the cannon and the Vikhr missiles. The bomblet dispenser is purely an area of effect and you need to use a standard flight pattern - like dropping bombs in WW2 - to choose the area you are going to bomb.
What I do is the following:
I fly level at 500AGL (as on the HUD) at a speed of 150kph. Higher or faster means that the Area of effect is longer - this gives me a length of 250m splash area
I laser-lock up the middle of the target group on the Shkval
I fly directly towards it and at about 1.1 to 1.3km away, I release the bomblets
I keep it standardized as much as possible
See my attached practice mission - Note: I've put in a watch-tower that you can watch from. After you release the bomblets, Pause the game, and hit F12 to see the tower. It'll be next to the target group. Scroll in and out and rotate with the mouse to find the Target Group
Should you miss, you can crash into the ground and then hit RCVR (recover) option
The mission starts with you at 350m AGL. Just download and place in your Missions folder
Rockets are like an artillery shot. The target pipper does show up on the screen. Aim there for an area of effect shot. Don't expect T-80s or M1A1 tanks to be destroyed but trucks, APCs, and soldiers will be.
Another question is, how come tanks need 3 hits with vikhr at times, and other times just two?
It depends on the direction you shoot from. Tanks are more armoured on the front - it is modelled in the DCS: Black Shark
And whats the purpose for the AP if the keep ricochetting all the time?? I can hardly hit but the trucks.
I use AP only for long flights. When I'm trimmed correctly, I just fly while ignoring the AP. When it comes to how to fly the Ka-50, it is much like a sniper. Plan a position ahead of time (usually 5-7 km away from the target area) and set up shop by hovering. The planning tool I use is the ERBL tool in the ABRIS. When you go in for a rocket run, you'll be tilted forward and will be picking up speed rapidly. Start slower and lower the collective slightly as with slows the the spped increase. A few times I've used the Flight Director[L.CTRL + A] which dampens the inputs and is smoother.
Sometimes when aiming with rockets, I hit the TRIM and HOLD. Makes it very steady. But it takes practice and you have to re-trim again after shooting the rockets
For a break from training, you can go on-line - Dragon's missions usualy show up on the server list - very good to fly - sometime there are purely training servers.

I put a tutorial on Trimming at my Black Shark Blog - The Trim Tutorial goes into some details
I use a HOLD TRIM method to move smoothly to an even position - see tutorial for full explanation.
Clearing Trim [L.CTRL + T] is the major way to steady it
Also check your inputs with [R.CTRL + ENTER]

A place to start is the Theatre Map
That's in the Downloads | Documentation section of DCS-Eagle Dynamics and shows the theatre used in the current DCS: Black Shark 1.02
-
- When designing missions I would like to place "combat boxes" of various dimensions on the ABRIS display that enclose and indicate areas of key interest for KA pilots.
For Combat boxes in the Ka-50's, please see my ABRIS Lesson Blog-Entry - this is EXACTLY what you need
My Black Shark Blog has a few other entries on mission making but maybe not the depth you need

There are two mods. Though I wish that the mod name did not have to take gods name in vane. I tried to remove the name before installing it. it wouldnt :(
Here's a better filter - DTWD's English Mods

It's a Ka-50 mission
What does Google Translate say?
You should be able to high-light text in the mission briefing, hit CTRL-C, and then paste it into Google Translate

PS. what cheapest rudder pedals are avaible on market? I'm using X52 joystick and It is hard to keep trimming rudder by twisting joystick and simultaneously operating Shkval with hat :)
For slewing the Shval pipper, try adding the Slewing keys to the Arrow keys on the keyboard
I also use just one button on my joystick - for Centring the Shval pipper
That way you can Twist with you right-hand without messing up the Slewing with your left hand
That's a cheaper option than a rudder (mine cost $160 - but that was for the A-10C)
Never needed it with my MS Sidewinder in DCS: Black Shark

Simmers,
I am having a weird situation where I can't zoom out (cockpit) on some missions and can on others. When I can't zoom out, the hud and frame fills the screen and I am stuck there.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Your Locked-View might be a controller problem - sometimes my MS Sidewinder stops working and the screen does not Zoom in/out
When I ALT-TAB out, I find that the controller is not functioning
It also might be locked in HUD-CLOSE
Check to see if it is the HUD-CLOSE view
When it's functioning normally, hold down NUMPAD-ZERO and then NUMPAD-5
If that view matches your locked view, there might be some controller assignment locking the view to that
To get out of HUD-CLOSE view, I usually tap the NUMPAD-ZERO

I bought it on-line - http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=1322&scr=shop&lang=en
Log in there (different password than here)
There is a compatability patch coming out for DCS to get them to fly together

That good terrain collision work
-
Hell yeah. I crashed three times before I finally managed to find the FARP and touch down with a lack of elegance and a broken nose gear. I'm not buying the weather guys any drinks tonight. :-)
I've never done an Instruments landing - using the beeacons - I'll try that next without using the ABRIS - maybe I can make another version
-
Just the Basics
1) Is there a reason the 1.01 patch is being used?
I was just on the 1.02 BlackShark multi-player - it showed plenty of servers
Is there still a 1.01 master server program?
2) Have you've been able to get the multi-player(the blue icon) to run AT ALL before - or is this the 1st time you've tried it
-
Attached are 2 missions to practice with - one easy and one difficult
The Calm Mission - is just a standard flight to an Airport
The Difficult Mission - is hellish
They go with a Mini-Tutorial on Landing at my Blog
[EDIT]
Updated the Missions Link - I had just put up the jpegs for it D'Oh
