  1. Also heard the debate on the PC Gamer podcast - Podcast Page

Some guys will be going head-to-head to duke it out

    My 2 cents:

While flying on-line - with labels on - it is like a being a squirrel while a hawk circles over-head - you're always watching them

The A-10, if it has any height, is difficult to lock onto

It also has radar-guided missiles, which do not show up on the Black Shark (NO RWR !!!)

I think the IR missiles do show up - I'll have to test

I do get some indirect kills - on-line A-10 pilots sometimes get tunnel-vision in trying to strafe me

    - but as I'm only 30m off the ground, they tend to lawn-dart :P :D

  2. Since you are flying the DCS Black Shark, which has a very narrow capability of locking up anything - it sounds surprising that it'd jump from object to object

Which joystick do you have? - we have all types of users in this forum - most :smartass: with functioning joystick profiles

Are you running in Real Mode or Game Mode?

  3. Is this possible to achieve in the game? Would make a nice mission where you have to laser the target for a precision bomb, dropped by an high flying aircraft.

    Bump

That was going to be my next question -

otherwise it's just the Kh-25ML and Kh-29L that can be used with the Laser Designator - and I will test those too

    Thanks

  4. In reading the Manual, it mentions Laser Bombs being used with the Laser designator panel.

It mentions Kh-25ML, Kh-29L or laser bombs can be used.

I could see Kh-25ML and Kh-29L being launched off the wings of the Ka-50

But I couldn't find any laser bombs on the Loadout screen

Set me in the right direction - would I be able to use the Laser Designator for the laser bombs?

All I see is dumb bombs

    Thank you

  5. I've checked through the ME Guide - Is there any way I can get the Satellite view in the Editor

While playing the mission, you can hit F10 and select Satellite View but while creating a Mission, I cannot find the button that will give Satellite View.

It would help with placement of objects

  6. I keep having trouble sending my Wingman to a datalink position entered into ABRIS by Shkval

The steps I take are as follows:

    • Check on the PVTz-800 Off-Board Targeting Data Link Mode Panel to see if my ID Number Dial is set to `1` and Data Mode is set to COMmander
    • On the Targeting Mode Control Panel - turn on `Automatic turn on target` and `Automatic tracking – gun sight`
    • Uncage the Shkval
    • Turn on Targeting Laser
    • Slew the Shkval to the position (follow on the ABRIS)
    • Lock the Position (a distance to Target will show up on my Shkval TV Monitor)
    • Hit Ingress button on the Datalink Panel [LeftSHIFT-4]
    • and then Send/Receive Memory on the Datalink Panel [LeftSHIFT-U]
    • Do a Target Reset(BackSpace) and the point is stored into the ABRIS system. It'll show up on the ABRIS as a little Blue house
    • On the Datalink Panel - I then hit Ingress button, hit DLINK to Wingman 2, and then Hit Ingress button again to select the correct Datalink point - On ABRIS, both the Datalink Point and Wingman2 will be flashing
    • Then hit Send/Receive Memory on the Datalink Panel to send Datalink Point to my Wingman2
    • The Datalink Panel clears and the wingman should be have my datalink point
    • I then issue, through the Comms menu, either a Goto command or Reconnoitre to the Datalink Point command to my Wingman - A voice command is issued
    • My Wingman2 responds `Unable` or `Negative`

When I send my wingman out to reconnoitre, input some targets into ABRIS, and then order him to attack a datalink Target, he completes that task

    I`ve attached a Track of what`s happening

    Any help would be appreciated

  7. I found some mistakes in campaign Foothills:

    - In many missions, ground target is only wasteland, stupid wingmen (AI) always focus on the non-target zone & fireeee !

Player could not determine numbers of ground target

Haven't had much trouble with them. What sort of command do you give to the wingmen?

My standard is Complete Mission - \(comms menu) F1 F7 and then Rejoin. I keep a very tight control on them and do most of the work myself.

I did see it happen in one mission but thought I had compensated.

    Was it on all missions?

The number of targets are usually found by visuals - (usually through the Shkval)

My preference is to have the targeting diamond in the correct area and the Player to be using his skills to hunt them down. Directly having target diamonds on moving Tanks seems cheap.

    - Russian Igla always shoot down Russian strike squad Su-25T, so i must kill him first (mission #4)

I will review in Tacview 0.94 - I'll see if there are hidden ones or if it's just a bug. I can just change it to a Stationary object or have a nearby tank kill them within seconds.

Most are there to give the fiction of Intel to the briefing(Forward Observers) and can be dropped or changed.

[EDIT] Is this mission called "Over the Mountain"? I've just loaded it and see no Igla's at all. If you use TacView, you might be able to see what happened.

    - Enemy medium range mobile air defences (Kub, Buk M1) are worthless because they're launcher trucks only, no acquisition/ tracking radar for searching airborne targets. Of course, they can't lock & shoot down targets

Most of the medium range mobile air defences are off the main mission track. Otherwise I'd put in a anti-SAM weapon-load. They give a general idea where the enemy is in the theatre.

    Thanks for your input.

  8. Thanks for the campaign Zoomboy.

I have a problem progressing from the first mission to the next. I usually only have time to fly for a short time each day and will complete a mission then shut down. When I start up the next time I have to start over again with the first mission. I don't have that problem with other campaigns.

It's in the right folder of the game and I do hit the save button at the end of the mission. Any ideas?

BTW - The first mission is great, looking forward to the next, hopefully.

Besides de-classifying the mission, you can also try clicking on the next mission(Mission #2) on the Mission List and then saving. That will bring up the Mission #2 description.

That sometimes works. I'll look at that tonight when I get home.

  9. And in any case, you should wait a month or so for the Flaming Cliffs 2.0 to be released. Not only will it bring alot of new stuff, it will run better.

I don't know about how good his computer can handle Flaming Cliffs 1.12

But as he'll have to upgrade through Flaming Cliffs anyway, he might as well get it now. There's a lot of content(missions/campaigns) that Lockon Flaming Cliffs 2.0 won't be able to run.

And the wait might be a few months

Better to fly now than wait :) - that's what my pilot heart says

  10. I have finished a larger campaign for the Su25T

A longer campaign with a medium difficulty - more night missions

Russian forces are trying to push back Extremist Nationalist forces back onto the Kerch Strait starting in the foothills north of Novorossijsk.

Your air unit has the job of breaking resistance points and destroying any enemy forces.

A basic style of mission with no labels.

I've uploaded them to Lockonfiles - Please make a donation - I have - Thanks Thomas

You need to be logged in

For the Campaign - download Campaign here - it's a ZIP file to be unzipped into your Campaigns Folder

For the MissionPack - download MissionPack here - To be unzipped into your Missions Folder

    Or at my Flightsims Page

Let me know if there are any problems. It was a big one with lots of de-bugging and reviewing. Extremophiles will find it a bit mild but for each mission, I usually tried to throw in a curve or two.

    Enjoy!!

  11. As BRD has so kindly provided my missions page - all my missions have the same password - gilliguck

It's what the Skipper on Gilligan's Isle really says when Gilligan screws up and they don't get off the island again - Gilligan! ***k!

Current Projects - with FC1.12 - I want to get it out before 2.0

Foothills - a Large campaign in the mountains north of Novosissyrk - on last run-through of testing. It'll be out soon.

Sideshow Abkhazia - smaller campaign with heavier historical background as separatist forces in Abkhazia use the Ossetia conflict to secure more of Abkhazia from Georgian forces - on last run-through of testing and want to edit some of the historical info

DCS:Black Shark Up-to-Speed Guide - Just got back into BS and made much progress but I still have lots to learn - late alpha stage

  12. Zoomboy, can I ask you a question?

You obviously know how to use the editor..How do I place a player, or a Blue unit on the map.

Whenever I select USA or others as Blue, then the only units I seem to be able to place on the map are Red...

Make sure the Coalitions are set up correctly

Place the Red Unit and then change the country on the drop-down box on the Upper Right

  13. I'm polishing up a fairly large campaign - called Foothills (mainly using the Krysmk airbase) and have a number of night missions.

How fair is it to have IR SAMs(Iglas & Strelas) at night. I usually don't have them at all but was considering adding them.

Or if I have them, what sort of rules would I use?

Mark them on the map? as if I have Intel

    or

ID them in the HUD as if there are Forward Observers or Special Ops guys spotting directly??(I use friendly Igla symbols)

    Let me know your thoughts.
