Ok, so my Saitek X52 Pro arrived on monday. Been tweaking them since then, in-game and with the STT software, and finally I have something that begins to feel like HOTAS. What a pain. So far I'm not really convinced by the X52 Pro stick & throttle. They feel more "plastic" that I had thought they would and ther's some centerplay with the axis and rotarys. I should have saved up to the X65, but I had such a GAS for a HOTAS bundle. Meanwhile, here's a long exposure photo of my pit. Can't even begin to describe the feeling when I'm flying a night mission with the lights off and only the screens, MFD's, keyboard and X52 provide the light. Very cockpitty feeling indeed... And because I'm broke after buying the X52 I had to cut down my weekly beer consumption. But todays friday so I had to buy one lousy bottle. And a very fitting bottle it is, brits surely have some nice bottles...

Well everything is possible with SETAC. It's still a work in progress. Orginally the dad of SETAC made the software for his own pit but it works aswell in mine. There are many features that doesn't show up in the screenshots. MFD-zooming, changing tracked/tracking objects and changing the various MFD's with a USB-keypad etc... I'll try to get the dad of SETAC to post an own thread about SETAC in the near future. I think he will go by his callsign Sierra Echo 69. He's a computer wizard that has been around since the first Flanker 1.0 release.

At the moment SETAC is sized for a 15" screen so Cougar MFD's should fit nicely around the SETAC MFD's.

Just incase you wondered about what the heck is SETAC (actually no one did), it's a proggy that my friend is working at. Much like Lock On Virtual Panel or LEAVU etc... Here's three screenshots of SETAC in action:

So it really has more to do with the Shkval? OK, thanks!

Oh, sorry. Yes I mean in Su-25T. I have tried both, my hit accuracy seems to be as good/bad if I use the target specified size or not. Also I'm confused by the whole principe of the "target specified size". I paint the target with my laser right? And the missile (Vikhr for instance) flyes to the painted target. What's the deal with the targets size? The missile shouldn't care if the target is a rusty bucket or a bigass tank? :joystick:

I bet Zaelu likes dogs... Anyway, the detachable stick just at the edge of the seat is a great idea Zaelu. I'll think I just might copy your idea, thanks. Waiting for my X-52 Pro BTW, should arrive tomorrow. I really wanted the X-65 but Christmas drained my bank account to almost zero...

Thanks! It's a Logitech G19: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/keyboards/keyboard/devices/4956

Where can I find this 2.1.3 version? Can somebody please post a link, thanks...

A neeb question... Do you guys use target specified size? Does it matter? Are the chanses of hitting a tank or plane really much better?
-
No joke... A major brainfart though. What I meant was I have one 2x4 in the front and two 2x4's under the seat. And no 2x4's inserted up in my ass :music_whistling:
-
Is 3/8" about 10 millimeters? I so, I think that's a little too thin. I used 18 mm plywood all the way and I have three 2x4s to keep things together. Two under the seat and one in the rear of my pit.

2. Wellll, I hope what you do late in the evenings has nothing to do with my picture, even if I do look like your brother. Oh crap! I should have seen that one coming... :megalol: Allright. Let's try to salvage this thread: What are your plans for the Cougar MFD's?
-
Looking good, man. Three things (two off-topic): 1. You gotta get a bigger screen. Your cool cockpit screams for a bigass screen... 2. My wife saw this thread, cause she allways wonder what I do late in the evenings. Her first commentary was: "Is that your brother?". Man, I tell ya. Whitout the glasses you are a spitting image of my brother... 3. A Canucks cap there? While not my favorite canuck NHL-team, I must say that Sami Salo is one the best defens players ever to play in NHL from Finland. But so very accident prone, allmost a curse on him I think...

Sharkster64; I got my inspiration from Tagges pit. Thank's! I usually am a inspiration to nothing else besides constant series of complaints from my wife... :) Looking very good indeed, nice work. I called my pit multipurpose because I wanted the opportunity to play other games also. Racing sims (so I hade to have somwhere to put my Logitech Momo steering wheel) and Combat Mission-series are what I mostly play.

The right MDF with backlight on and off. And the left MFD and cupholder holding a... well, a cup. This is usually used for holding various maltbased bewerages.
-
...and the finished cockpit. The Sony 15" LCD looks kinda small now. The third pic shows the view "under the hood" where you can see my Cougar MDF's backlight (a ordinary lightbulb in a coffeebox).

Phases one and two, a work in progress. The seat is the left frontseat from a Subary Justy. The screen in pic three is a Samsung 32" HD-television.

Thanks, much appreciated! Let's see 7" x 2,54 cm = 17,78 cm...

Not hijackig the thread either, but could someone please tell me the measures of the throttel & stick. My cockpit project is at a standstill right now and I'm thinking of buying the X65-F but I would like to know the size of the bottom plates for the stick & throttle. Thanks!
-
Hi there! Whats the base size of the X65-F stick & throttel? Haven't found any measures even with some very fierce googling... tagge

Here's what I made for MIG-29, SU-27 & SU-33. The font colours might need tweaking but otherwise I'm quite happy with the result...

Yeah, but how do they differ from each other? Isn't barometric altitude = barmometric altitude?
