That how i see/use IRIS and VRS planes. Just as a training tool so when combat version comes, you should be very familiar with the plane (cockpit) and it's startup procedure. In harrier case it will be valuable to learn nozzles management and hovering, for example
No knowledge would be a mistake, take advantage of what ever you can.

Hello there komemiute! I'm not doubting you, just interested in how you are a valid source? Care to share the information? :)
For god sake look on the internet in the right places and you will find all the information you wish on the Typhoon. I mean right places, you will recognize them when you see them.
komemiute is absolutely correct.;)

I saw your post on VRS SH, not impressed at all and it did not help 7g either with that attitude. VRS have worked miracles with FSX and their Tacpac is one product which will add years of more simming to FSX especially when the SDK is released and people start adding weapons to their aircraft and completing half done combat aircraft. When they add Tacpac to Prepare3d I think its going to be quite good as you have a sim thats being evolved with a mod like Tacpac there is the potential there for some quite awesome addons. Another thing is the Flight model for the VRS SH will have an even more detailed FM in the Pro version so I think VRS have some more surprises in store for us in that department. No other addon for FSX have I seen with VRS SH capabilitys or detail. BTW currently FSX is still the most realistic sim for Carrierops at this stage since simmers have actually flown real Hornet sims and done graded traps(including night landings) with real LSOs after using VRS SH.(more than one have accomplished that):music_whistling:
I see that CP is doing CarrierOps and I'm wondering if they are using Dino Cantennos T45C?:pilotfly:
Well those last two post were very well done. Nothing to say except there are very high fidelity aircraft out in the market already. Grant you not a lot but there are some very well done aircraft. If developers key in more on this with the new offerings coming up, that would be great.

I see someone is hoping for an F-16.:D
-
At least they implemented trackir before going under .....
Was there any question that they would not make a go of Flight. They never even had the support of the MS community. It was just a matter of when the announcement was coming. This is what CAN happen if you don't watch your customer base and listen to thoughts, opinions and ideas. Take the wrong path and this happens. Not the first won't be the last.

+1:thumbup:
Not a high probability of this going to happen.
-
Yes, GG it is worth keeping an eye on,if nothing else.
-
NEGATIF!!!
On what, it won't be out for 2 years? Anything is possible but I would think it is a lot closer than that.
-
Thanks, indepth and a lot of information. I think we have to wait and see just what each has to really offer when the time comes. IRIS and VEAO are quite a ways off yet as well. Yes, Their training would appear quite intensive.
Man we are very hopeful that TacPack will be out before 2 years. A lot closer.
-
I know the Brits have good training, so I wouldn't doubt that they could give anyone a good run for their money :)
SECOND THAT:thumbup:

Has anyone come across anything else?

Hello and yes it is I :) FITA Target at LEL and 3D Natuur at our new club in Genk (No web site yet)

Though we aren't talking about Prepar3d, how does academic = home?
Relax, just pointing out that as sim pilots there seems to be more coming our way.
whether we jump on some of this is upto the individual.
For years we have been relying on one company to provide us with Combat simulation. For what ever reason we seem to be attracting a little attention. Nothing wrong with that.
-
Subscription based flight simulator? Never. That goes against every reason I play flight simulators in the first place.
That is not prepar3D which you can do the same.
You can buy the home version for $44.95 so you don't have to worry and you get the Whole World to fly in.
Yes, Subscription based flight simulation does appear to be expensive. I think you would have to take a close look at what is offered and see if it fits the price.
Like I said the flight sim pilot is going to be in for some interesting times.

Brimstone can also be launched from ship and ground vehicle tho the MOD did not take that option up
If that's you in the thumbnail, hello fellow archer.
-
That's not what he said.
Hellfires are even launched from boats, but that is besides the point. It's the kinematic advantage that the Brimstone has due to being capable of being launched from fast-jets that he highlighted.
Ok, viper, just misunderstood.

Don't want to have anything to do with Facebook, Twitter or the rest. Why can't they have their own forum for customers and/or people interested in their products?:(
-
Yeah....12-15km sounds more right (at least aerodynamically) to me; keep in mind Hellfire is an 8km missile, and it's launched from basically 0 AGL, 0 IAS. Huge kinematic advantage from Brimstone's launch platform!
I'll admit, Brimstone is a piece of equipment I wish we had. Though from reading the earlier post about the cold war ripple-fire intent of Brimstone, sounds like maybe the USAF decided to answer the same problem set with CBU97 instead. Certainly each has their advantage- CBU97 is technically capable of engaging more targets (if they're relatively close together), while Brimstone is a better solution for widely dispersed targets and SHORAD-defended targets. There's a lot to be said about that extra 8+ km standoff.
Do you mean the hellfires are not launced also from a helio platform?

The Airwolf isn't fictitious!!! It's real, but the govt did a real good job keeping it secret by intentionally allowing one to star in a TV show so people would think it was just made up.
Ever heard of the "Black Helicopters"? Yeah, think about it.:matrix:
god give me strength. Airwolf, next will be 3 musketeers in saucers.
No doubt they have the technology and maybe they inserted some into a helicopter but Airwolf please that was a civilian helicopter and I am sure if you searched the web you would find out what model. Too many TV shows.:D Do FBI and CIA and DEA and and and use civilian helicopters, well of course they do and are some painted black possibly. Airwolf, not likely.;)

Tango:
Yes, very nice, I did one for FC2. I think it's the best looking and well unfortunately not as capable as the EF. Mighty fine aircraft all the same.

I don't think the F-35 will properly replace the Harrier's true VTOL abilities.
The F-35 is really a joke that the U.S. is pushing. Most everyone who was in line to purchase is looking very very hard at the F-35 capabilities and of course price tag. It's a single engine and that is something our Country has to pay particular attention to as well as everything else. If BAE can't get the Harrier right after all these years what do you think the U.S. will do with it's first real go at it.:joystick:
-
does this mean you would not like to see a Euro-Fighter in DCS? If so Why.
-
No, I believe I found two stories from both British and German pilots vs your account of someone who had a different recollection of something you first claimed never happened.
But it's nice that you found someone to back up your side of something that never happened happening in a way that's agreeable to you.:D
Work is afoot but they don't involve pilots and are therefore not applicable to DCS.:smilewink:
hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha:thumbup::D

Well I got to say I never knew we had so many experts here on Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Aircraft Propulsion, aircraft wing design, latest avionics and radar systems and latest weaponry. WOW. I bet if you get these people all under one roof, we could have a 6th generation fighter.:v:

Discuss other sim news is what this thread is all about. Why are there 2 threads closed when talking about other sim. news this IS the place to put it. 1.12 does not apply to this thread as discribed by ED themselves where forum members can talk about other sims.
some more heavy handed moderation from a certain moderator. This is getting too regimental. you can't say anything that does not pertain to ED, even though they give us a thread to do so.
