  1. My thought is, the original VR application has nothing to do with entertainment or personal use. The revived tech is about a decade ago and again it did not start out as what we know today.  It is too early to laugh at this effort because this is what mobile communication started about 50 years ago. What Apple is showing here is simply stunning technically with the same scary price tag.

I really don't like to external battery solution.

  2. Watching the live stream now...

OT: Gaming mode and porting tools -- DCS World on macOS?!

Here we go... AR is coming...Apple Vision Pro...May not be relevant to VR HMD. It is killing the "metaverse" or whatever Meta is trying to do.

  3. My test series, more to come, is never about frame rate, it is all about smoothness. As in later tests, there would be a noticeable difference when the texture is "lighten".  Flying Beirut can get over 70 or 80 frame per second, but ghosting and studdering still persist.

I think before all those "magical" technologies come into play, there would be a need to see how to minimise the problem, when plagued, at least to me, from the very start flying in VR.

  4. (re-upload) How do F-14B compare with F-16C in terms of studdering in VR?

Turns out the Caucasus map was even more demanding than Beirut. The later still showed some studdering but the F-16C ran a little smoother than the F-14B.

Next, I just come across a post by BigEnv, and I am trying to see if there any difference by setting nVidia "low latency" from off to ultra.

  5. Clouds in VR sucks, even at ultra setting, and I can tell you after using both Pico4 and QPro, it is not the headset's fault.

Is the "Controller Charge Cable" which is inside the box, the same one as this?

Ah, I don't use the controller charging cable so I cannot tell. But those from VR Cover work and perform data link. The longer one also charging at the same time, not to mention, it is much longer.

  6. That Oculus Link dialogue box shows up once, normally.

There is no need to go back to Quest Home afterwards, unless you want some standalone stuff.

If so, you can reconnect click on the "battery + clock" sign on the bottom of the Quest Home. "Quick Settings"  A menu shows up and then click on Oculus Link button on the right.

Hint: you can power off the headset even in the Rift-S environment
