This is what the Persian Gulf Map should have been to be honest. This map looks very good however I just want to point out that you are missing many Air bases in Iraq, but overall I would want a map just like that.

I highly doubt that they are announcing new variants already. It was said in the interview that the CE would have GBUs and that the F-1M version would have access to Super 530F Aerges is taking an approach different to most other devs what I mean by this is they are putting weapons on the plane that is not specific to a certain variant for example for the CE the magic 1 and Durandel anti runway bombs both of which were never used by Spain. I like this way better because with the loadout restrictor server owners can decide what variant they want to simulate and restrict weapons accordingly. The shape of the plane probably changes from livery to livery similar to some liveries on the C-101.

There is going to be no pre order for the Mirage F1 ED does not do pre order for 3rd party modules anymore only for modules they make.

In regards to the CT/CR talk that has been going on I think that it is just a French livery for the plane. From what I have heard on the C-101 different liveries alter the shape of the plane. More specifically the nose. Even in the teaser on the Iraqi Mirages you can see the vertical stabilizer is slightly different to the other mirages. I don't think that Aerges would be teasing a new variant when the first one is not even out yet. And keep in mind they still have to do the BE EE and M version that they have already committed to.

They did delay the patch it was originally scheduled for the 22nd, but was pushed back to the 23rd for an unknow reason, but I am getting ahead of myself.

I don't think they would be announcing new variants at this point. Mind you they still have to make the EE BE and the M versions. It is probably just the French skin for the Mirage F1. Because it would be incredibly easy for people to argue that we would be getting an EQ-5 version because we saw a mirage in a Iraqi skin with a refueling probe. Same with the Morrocan F1 we also saw in the teaser.

Iranian tomcats had the Aim-54 that's what made them so scary however for sidewinders and sparrows they only had the aim-9p/J and aim-7E and the Aim-7E2

The Iraqis mostly used the F1s in an air to ground role or anti shipping in the Iran Iraq war. In a strike the Iraqis attempted to carry out against a Saudi oil refinery in the gulf war the Mirage F1s were the strike aircraft with an escort of mig-23s however they got shot down by saudi f-15s

One of the big takeaways from the interview I noticed is that they are not sticking to the pure realism of an exact variant from an exact point in time unlike other DCS modules. For example Spain never had Matra Durandels from my research, but they mentioned they will be on the F1 same with the Magic 1s. What this allows is players who want to play as another nations version of the F1 to do so. Because if there were only sidewinders people who would want to play as a south African mirage F1 or a Ecuadorian Mirage F1 would not be able to do so realistically in missions. And say if a server owner/operator wanted to make the Mirage F1 a specific variant for balance purposes or historical accuracy they can with the loadout restrictor.

Sure thing, -Several pre recorded videos were shown during the interview showcasing the FM, HUD, aircraft systems in a cold start and a compressor stall restart as well as a guns only dog fight against a mig-23 this is what was shown in the videos in the background. -In the interview it self they talked about the size of the dev team(5 members)and there various skills and backgrounds they also mentioned that they had the help of a real mirage f1 pilot. They talked about the versions of the plane being made for DCS the CE BE EE and M -They mentioned weapons that would be included on the Mirage F1CE version for what I heard these are the weapons: R.550 Magic 1, Aim-9B Aim-9G and Aim-9M and the IR version of the Matra R-530 these are the fox-2s, For semi active radar missiles on the initial version (CE) it will include the radar guided R.530 only from the looks of it right now. Then they mentioned ground ordinance which was to include a large selection of dumb bombs including the matra durandal anti runway bombs, rocket pods and external gun pods also LGBs without the ability to self designate. They did say that the F1-M would have the ability to take the super 530F however I hope that they allow to be on at least the EE version of the F1. -The question on what they would estimate a release time period to be they did not answer which is totally understandable because its ready when its ready, but from the looks of it the FM is complete same with the switches cockpit and the hud we did also see the guns firing the one thing that we have yet to see is the radar so that is whats probably still yet to be developed along with radar guided weapons.

Yes I am curious about this to. I frequently dog fight mig-21s in my F-5 with aim-9Ps and I know of no such issue.

One thing that I think Aerges should do 100% is add the exocet for the F1M the upgraded radar of this version allowed for sea scan modes and was exocet compatible so I really hope to see it. It would be so much fun doing anti shipping ops in the PG map.

The load out restrictor solves a lot of realism issues because individual server owners/operators can decide what weapons they will decide to allow on specific planes.

In the interview correct me if I am wrong, but I am almost certain that I heard them say that the matra durandal will be on the mirage F1 we see in game. None of the version that Aerges are making actually used this weapons so why cant we see the super 530F on earlier versions besides the M?

Yea seeing that in video made a lot more sense They said there will be Magic 1s and super 530s for the later versions from what I heard. Also I did not expect durandels to be included. but a very good interview.

In the screenshots they posted we can see the radar lead indicator working I see this as an indication on how the radar is going.

Well on the 20th we did get some news in the form of screenshots and some more info on whats going on the 23rd

The update to the open beta with the forestall and Jester Lantern capability was postponed from the 14th to the 20th despite heat blur saying it was ready on the 14th this could be due to something with Eagle dynamics, but with an F1 being given away on 23rd it could possibly linked to that at least that's what I want to believe.

For certain tho a phantom is coming to DCS but we dont know who is making it for sure though its not ED
