  1. The Sunday Supplement email from DCS had a write up of the Desert Storm AH-64 attack that took out the EW radar sites to start the air war.

I think Desert Storm would make a good campaign using the Persian Gulf or Syria map.

I realize that that the AH-64A's were used in that conflict.  the mast mounted millimeter wave radar dome can be optional, which gets closer to the A model.

To me it's just too historic of a mission to pass up making.

The above argument is an example of why I come to the ED Forums only with great reluctance these days.  You need information, but you fear toxic debate attitudes may splash on you.  It's like peering into the toilet after you do your business.  You need to make sure everything is on track, but it's hard to look through the ugly.  In relation, a decade ago the forums were like an aviation cheese burger... before it was eaten.

I don't say this to start more trouble, but on the chance that it invokes some consideration to how we might communicate better with like minded folks.  There are plenty of other people out there more worthy of disdain than our fellow virtual pilots.  Kumbaya Actual, out.

I have not been around for a very long time.  I made many good friends on this forum and I hope to make a few more when AH-64D draws me back into the forums.

    I second the Kumbaya.

  3. I for one am glad to see the meatball overlay. I had a very hard time seeing it in my oculus rift.

It may have to serve as a temporary solution until facebook/oculus gets a 4k VR headset with less screendoor effect.

  4. It's been a while, but I will give it a try.

The MK20 aka "Rockeye" is a standard cluster munition for light armor and some older tanks

    From the DCS A-10C Manual:

    CBU-105

The CBU-105 is the Wind Corrected Munitions Dispenser (WCMD) tail kit version of the CBU-97. Using Inertial Navigation System (INS) guidance, the CBU-105 can be dropped at much higher altitudes than the CBU-97 and guide to the targeted location (SPI).

Post edited because I was incorrect about the 99. I was confusing it with the 105. Apologies.

  5. I agree that the flaps position switch should not need target to work in game as mr mojo97 has pointed out.

Speaking specifically for the A10C, the flaps function is speed sensitive. The A10C will move the flaps for you if you forget to raise them as you go faster.

Try to check the flaps functionality on the ground during a ramp start...that should show you if the switch is working.

  6. Just in case you did not know, the track clip pro has 3 IR emitters that the track IR camera uses to see changes in your head position. The Hat Clip is merely a reflector. The Track IR camera can turn on a IR light and look for the reflection off of the hat clip.

In my experience, the track clip pro removes a lot of positioning false signals, and is a better user experience in general.

The major factor to getting the best experience out of the Track IR/Clip

is the removal or minimization of unwanted IR sources that the Track IR camera can see. Sunlight glinting off of a window in the camera's view can wreak havoc with the Track IR, so try to get rid of any stray IR source.

  7. Hi winther101, Welcome to the Forums!

Try opening DCS World, and go to the list on the right side and open up the module manager. (I think that is what it is called)

Then select the A-10C module and hit "install"

The correct module for that update should begin to download.

    Hope that helps.

  8. Our you could buy a ten dollar belkin serial to usb adapter and not tear apart your old stick.

IIRC, that solution did not work.

And just to be clear, there is no "tearing apart" in that process, just unplugging one cable and removing the joystick handle...all of which it was designed to do, and can be reversed in 5 minutes.

  9. Well I must say after looking at it more and seeing a video, I am even more enticed.

I am still a little concerned , compared to the smoothness of my NXT modded Cougar, it may not feel as smooth - but I am sure it is pretty good.

Also my Elite pedals obviously would not work with the Warthog, as I would need usb pedals - what pedals are you using with yours?

Edit: Ok just read a good review by a guy that had the NXT gimbal modded Cougar, and he says the feel is even better which is hard to imagine. I am really getting tempted now.

Question - I notice the throttle does not have rotaries on it, like the Cougar throttle - now that I will miss - did you find that a big issue?

Hi d.burnette, I also had a NXT modded cougar with hall's and the transition to the Warthog is a pleasant one....nice and smooth.

Regarding your Elite Pedals, I had a set of Simped's paired with my Cougar via the serial port on the Cougar joystick base. When I got the Warthog, I wanted to keep the Simped's and try to incorporate them into the new hardware.

The only solution I could come up with is to disconnect the Cougar throttle cable from the Cougar joystick base. Then remove the Cougar joystick from the joystick base. Then the only thing left plugged in to the Cougar joystick base is the rudder pedals via the serial port. Then plug the usb cable into your PC.

Your Cougar joystick base will serve as an expensive serial to usb adapter that will incorporate your rudder pedals.

DCS Warthog will see the Thrustmaster Cougar in the controller column in options right next to the Thrustmaster Warthog listings. You can then configure your rudders.

  10. I would love this to be fixed! or at least explained properly in the manual!

I start the mission and I want to change my loadout but nothing happens!

Hi BelgarionNL, Welcome to the Forums!

Here is a link to a YouTube video that I made showing how to interact with the Ground Crew. The audio came out very low, so turn up your volume before watching, and remember to turn your volume back down when your done.
