Personally I think the Sabrent has a slight edge on the Anker hub with the on/off buttons but then the Anker is more pleasant to look at if you aren't bothered about switches. Both units are almost identical specs wise. You can look the Anker up either by product code or just use 'Anker 10 Port 60W Data Hub with 7 USB 3.0 Ports and 3 PowerIQ'
I bought the ANker 10 port one since I am also changing my Qi phonecharger. So the intelligent PowerIQ ports can do their thing. I did buy a longer USB-A USB-B cable for it because 2.6ft is not long enough for going from my cable tray to my PC.
Thanks for the Advice.

Anker, Sabrent and StarTech all do decent powered USB hubs, Anker quite often come out in the number one spot for the hubs especially the USB 3.0 powered. TP-Link and Belkin do some decent ones but you don't get as many ports so probably not much use for upgrading. StarTech can be a bit pricey but is decent.
Ok, don't shoot me, I think I have a stupid question. I see 2 10-ports Sabrent USB 3.0 hubs. One has 10 similar ports, the other has 7 + 3 where the 3 have smart charging. If they are smart charging, does that mean they don't have data transfer so I can't add my mouse or keyboard and only charge?

I have stuff by Anker, Belkin, TP-Link, StarTech and Sabrent and it's all decent bits of kit, when it comes to power banks I only use Anker and Belkin and some are still going strong and holding charge after 5+ years of extensive use, bit off topic
I've used all the brands above and never had any issues with any of them, supplied well over a 1000 different bits of kit from these brands over the years and don't remember having to return anything in all that time. Been using StarTech and Belkin since the late 80's, Sabrent and TP-Link probably 20 years and Anker for maybe 9 or 10 years.
I would never buy anything off Ali Express for a computer, well actually anything at all
Thank you, it will be Anker or Sabrent then!!

I have a Winwing MIP which takes up 7 (!) usbs for the mfds and ufc, plugged into one powered Anker USB 60w 10x hub (7 data + 3 unused power-only) that keeps all the cables tidy and hidden behind, keeping one USB3 port on the pc occupied. I have another Sabrent 90w 16x powered hub for hotas, collective and rudder, plus I think mouse/kb abd bluetooth maybe? with a few shameful free spots remaining. They don't have any usb-c ports, but I can say that all the usb mfd screens etc are perfectly happy.
Thanks, just want to make sure I buy the right thing, so much Chinese alie express garbage being resold for premium prices everywhere.

Hello,
I am switching to an electrical desk with cable management and had the idea of buying 1 USB hub and stick in anything that comes of my Monitor, webcam, mouse, TrackIR, Virpil peddles, throttle and Joystick. USB speakers even?
1. I know USB-A can cope with 127 devices, but will everything keep working?
2. What are your suggestion for an excellent USB hub?
Anyone have a USB and USB-C hub ( 1 or 2 ports USB-C?)
Thank you!

Well I guess you answered your own question of course unless I missed something??
Raser doesn't have optical, just a 3.5 jack. I am not sure what does to the quality of the sound.
What happens if I do not connect the 2 but both individually to the PC, will I need windows sound config to switch them? That would be annoying when it for work and being called in a meeting I think.

you asked this in another thread here??
Don't think so, or it was a long time ago?

Hello,
Going for a clean desk I want to upgrade my 5.1 system to a soundbar (the Leviathan Pro) but very often (for DCS) use my high-end headphone (Steelseries Acrtis Pro Wireless).
Currently everything is wired with optical cables. When I turn on my headphone, my speakers automatically stop.
What would the best way to do this?
- leviathan via USB to the PC
- headset via optical or also USB to the PC
Use window to switch input?
Should I/Can I connect the Steelseries DAC to the Leviathan?

hello,
I currently have an older Logitech 5.1 soundsystem and a Steelseries wireless headset, if I turn on my headset, my speakers go off. My headset is connected via optical to my P's motherboard sounds section.
To unclutter my desk, I want to switch to a soundbar - woofer combination (Raser Leviathan Pro) that connects to my PC via USB. What is the best way to connect these things?

I use a 48” LG OLED for gaming and working from home full time. It’s fantastic! If you’re worried about burn-in I don’t think that’s a big concern these days as the screens have several features like pixel cleaning and shifting. My guess is that LG makes the panels for ROG because their specs seem identical.
Thanks, not so much worried about the burn in, but the pixels in fonts for use of office utilities like word, outlook, teams, chrome.
Personally I am looking at a ROG 43" with a 27" on the side, both Q-OLED

Hello,
I want to upgrade my current (34") monitor to either the new ROG Oled 34" or 49" screen, anyone any experience with them?
I also use the monitors for work 4 days a week (9-5).
Thanks!

you can call your dcs saved games location whatever you like.
In the old stable version it would be called DCS
Open beta on the other hand has a file called dcs_variant.txt in the root folder and the first line of that file is what your saved games location would be called.
Example
line1 of the dcs_variant.txt
openbeta
Save Games folder is now called dcs.openbetayou can use this to name the folder whatever you wish to or remove it and dcs will default back to using dcs saved games folder.
I do not see that file, even a search on my entire PC doesn't give a result. If I do a repair it says my openbeta version is repaired.
We talked before and it seems my version(s) works but is weird in the sense I have 2 directories in saved games but for the rest is conventional. Often when I get suggestion like this, I don't have a specific folder. I would really like to have a normal regular version, so support is easier.
I'd like to do a clean install of DCS but don't want to go through all the settings of the software and Hotas. Is that possible?

when you are about to do the update, rename each saved games folder to .BAK. run the update and let it do what the updater wants to do. you really do not have much choice i suppose. you can always repair the DCS installation. when it is done, run DCS. a new Saved Games folder will be created. then copy all the old Saved Games folders you want over to new folder.
before you start take note of the Saved Games folder that has the newest date on it.
also open and examine the file dcs_variant.txt found in the install folder (where mine is) \Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta. do a properties on your shortcut you use to start DCS. this will tell you exactly.
Unfortunately, I don't have an openbeta folder. I searched for the file on the entire disk and didn't find dcs_variant.txt

Hello,
I know we are going to 1 version soon, but I am afraid I will have issues. My DCS world directory is on D:, I have no DCS.openbeta directory.
In my user\saved games I do have 2 folders for DCS, DCS and DCS.openbeta. My DCS folder has 16 subfolders (with liveries and such). My open beta directory has only 3. Should I just copy the 13 (not the ones I already have) from the regular DCS to the dcs.openbeta folder?

Hi,
I watched Wags video of the sidewinder training and when he locks the first plane, his sidewinder gives indeed a distinct tone. When I do the training I do not get the same tone but the sidewinder does take the plane down.
- is there something wrong with the training? (unlikely)
- am i doing something wrong? (likely)
Suggestions please?
Ps. I hope this is the right section for FA18 questions. It does not really fit with the name of the folder structure.

hello,
Last version of the software I have installed was v20220720_patch1.exe.
Can I install the 20230328 version of the software without breaking things (or in DCS)?

My personal preferences:
-
NAV (HUD option on EW page boxed prior to fence-in)
- LDDI: HUD or ADI (depending on day or night), FPAS (for transition from climb to cruise), or STORES (if I need to do additional weapon configuration after establishing cruise)
- RDDI: ATTK (generally 6B on HPRF at 80nmi for airspace sanitation, situational)
- MPCD: HSI or SA (usually HSI through climb phase and switching to SA after establishing cruise)
-
A/A (HUD option on EW page always boxed)
- LDDI: AZ/EL (sometimes FLIR)
- RDDI: ATTK (usually no more than 4B, usually INTL but MPRF at 20nmi and below)
- MPCD: SA
-
A/G (HUD option on EW page always boxed)
- LDDI: STORES or weapon display, sometimes FLIR (especially if mission is anti-shipping for VID)
- RDDI: ATTK or FLIR
- MPCD: SA or HSI
-
AAR (HUD option on EW page unboxed for declutter)
- LDDI: HUD or FUEL
- RDDI: ATTK (for easy actuation of SIL option)
- MPCD: HSI (for ground speed readout)
Thanks, being a novice, I understand most of it, but looking up what it means (or how to get it there) will be my learning process.

- Landing and take-off
- Flying in safe area
- Flying in dangerous area
- Attacking AIR assets
- Attacking ground assets
Any other situations (Air refueling)?
Thank you!

you didnt regenerate the "autoupdate.dat"? the updater shows no file needs repair this time.
I didn't do anything other I just supplied the file again after the slow repair was done with bitdefender off.
The time stamp of the file is now 11:26, that is 20 min ago. It is resaved after the last repair.
ps. just to be sure I did a cleanup first and it is also shown in the log right before the repair.
pps. the log shows 10:26 but i think that is because of CET

check your antivirus and security is not creating a problem for DCS
I have bitdefender, paused it and did another slow repair. See the log.autoupdate_log.txt
