  1. No, I had ensured flaps were up and speedbrake was retractd (but not via emergency retract). I had wondered if the oscillations were PIO or possibly as a result of overspeed for the MR condition. I'll try again and see what I get.
  2. Thanks. I'd had a look at that and whilst it is good for explaining how the trim and MR systems work, it doesnt help explain the pitch oscillations or the speed brake flapping.
  3. Does anyone know if the manual reversion system can be tested with both hydraulic systems still active (ie engines running and all fine)? I switched to MR earlier without having any hydraulic failures to prompt it (ie, I was testing) and the hydraulic pressure wound down to zero (expected) then the aircraft pitched up and down voilently (not expected). I was anticipating a nose down attitude after about 4 secs after switching to MR but not the oscillations. The airbrakes were opening and closing like crazy and once I had stabilised this I couldn't bank or pitch the aircraft. Pitch trim still worked - as it sets out in the manual. Any thoughts?
  4. You're correct that it depends on weight so the following may be incorrect if you are on the lardy side at take off and landing: seems like you could be too fast on landing and not fast enough on takeoff. I'm taking off at 33,000 lbs gross weight (no combat load) and the rotation speed is around 125kts. Landing at around 30,000 lbs the approach speed is 120kts with touchdown at 110kts. These figures are taken from the charts contained in the original A-10A manual which can be found in the sticky thread regarding manuals and documents. (I'd post a link but I'm inept at that kind of thing). They take a bit of time to go through but you probably only want the take off and landing charts. For clarity, I use these reference speeds in conjunction with the AoA indicator and croiss check that with my vertical speed - I think that sinelnic means 300 fpm on touchdown, not 3fpm. Hope this helps.
  5. Problem solved. Thanks Arclight and Echonomix. Found a button on my keyboard that I didnt know existed; F Lock!
  6. Gents (I presume), Thanks for your help. I've managed to get a basic mission set up just as I want it and will also be using the shooting gallery in due course. For some reason when I tried to place an object before, I could only get the 'player' option once. Sarge55, thanks for the welcome. As an aside, shouldn't pressing F2 take me to an external view of the aircraft? Sorry if this is an utterly basic question but according to Controls it should do and this, as well as the other F keys dont seem to do anything. I'm still fumbling around with this sim but I'm certain it will be worth it.
  7. Having not played BS or lockon (I'm a virgin DCS convert) I am struggling to set up a basic flight. I would like to be able to set my aircraft at Nellis with the engines off and no stores so that I can practise start ups and then go for a fly. Destroying stuff will come later once I've got a handle on the a/c. Is there a way to do this? Create Instant Mission doesnt work. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Timc
