  1. Thanks for the reply. You mean changing the country to e.g. Russia? If I do, I still have the same problem, unfortunately.
  2. Hi, whenever I try to create a fast mission on the mainland with the aircraft on the ramp or runway, no matter which aircraft or setting, I get this message (see screenshot). Creating it starting from the air is no problem. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?
  3. Meia culpa..I thought because steam shows up to date it is up to date...it wasn't. After plugging the usb-cable into a not before used usb port I could update to REV .15..now it seems to be working! Thank you!
  4. I have them uncoupled since I don't intend to use them...WMR setup says you have to look at the gem if you want to use mouse and keyboard, but it does not work. xbox controller doesn't work either. I can accept the diamond thingy, but then it does not function properly anymore when it comes to the "look at the stage"-phase. Edit: Pressing Win+Y solved it. Somehow the gem only works when you have the desktop as output source selected. Now to the sound problems...^^ Edit 2: Tried to check again if the audio update is installed, got this when starting the update tool: Second picture shows the usbc to a adapter which looks different than the one with the first g2. Without it, nothing works at all.
  5. Both, I tried to align the dot with the diamond only through mirror image with no luck. That's why I assume it's a software/driver issue. But un- and reinstalling or clearing the caches of wmr and Steamvr (USB device) didn't bring any luck. Google just brought a result where one had connection issues which I don't have. The headset is detected and works (minus the issues I named).
  6. Firmware is up to date. The dot in wmr is on the diamond. It just does not respond. With the former g2 there was an animation on the diamond and a sound and the "intro" continued. Just not here. It does nothing, even though the dot is on top of the diamond and sometimes the sound effect chimes for a fraction of a second. I'm talking about this diamond: https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tenforums.com%2Fattachments%2Ftutorials%2F211129d1541283803-set-up-windows-mixed-reality-headset-windows-10-a-learn_mixed_reality_start.jpg&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tenforums.com%2Ftutorials%2F120992-set-up-windows-mixed-reality-headset-windows-10-a.html&docid=WQlUuKH0iRMkVM&tbnid=NNgYDd2y2ygrTM&vet=1&source=sh%2Fx%2Fim
  7. Since the light on the headset itself is lit and the headset works I think so. But the setup says to look at the diamond. I point the dot on it, sometimes hear a short tone, but nothing else happens. I kind of suspect a driver/software issue. I will double check tomorrow.
  8. Sorry... again a problem. I have tried the index headset and found the G2 in comparison better. So I bought one again. I cleared all USB devices in steamVR before plugging in the G2. But the WMR setup did not work (diamont not responding). Also I randomly see a sound symbol and 50 or 100 (sound level) without changing anything. Sound is cut in the setup and not working anywhere else. Even after reinstalling everything (steamVR, wmr), still no luck. I bought both g2 via Amazon marketplace and I recognized, that the first one had a different USB-c to -a adapter than my current one. Since it is recognized in wmr, this cannot be a problem, can it? Any idea how fix the problem?
  9. That's why I am going to use the G2 now. I try to get used to it because the clarity - despite the blurry image around the corner - was better than with the index. So much so, that I found the 3D effect was more intense with it.
  10. Please report also what you think about the index!
  11. So, the Index arrived yesterday - and will be returned today. The index's packaging is really nice, FOV is better in my opinion and the blurry edges are not as prominent as with the G2. But at an overall reduced sharpness...This was clear from the get go, but for me it doesn't even look 3D. Considering that the index costs double compared to the G2, it isn't enough improvement for me. I'm returning it and either buy the G2 again and try to get used to it (weird I know!) or give up.
  12. I'm not sure, I looked reaaally hard to see any difference. Not a remarkable one, but any difference at all. Will do, thank you! I didn't change anything besides enabling the mod and I saw a really big difference - just not through the headset. As far as I know the image of mirror image and lens should be the same (besides of course the changes because of the different displays). And it just wasn't. I stopped after some tries. But with the Index I will try again and keep your point in mind.
  13. I did, and I really focused on a few spots to see if there is any difference. Didn't see any. In the mirror image colors/saturation as well as sharpness were clearly different. Apparently I must have done something wrong, I just don't know what it was.
  14. I tried. Somehow the shader only applied to the mirror image in SteamVR, not the actual picture through the headset.
  15. For my part I've now ordered a Index in the hope that it is different enough for me to get used to and like VR - because the general feel is awesome. But if that doesn't work out I'm returning to 2D as well and hopefully new lenses and graphics cards (and also better dcs implementation of VR) will improve the experience in the future and close the gap to 2D in terms of graphical fidelity. Edit: in hundsight I find it amusing reading how crystal clear and sharp the image with a G2 is and I put it on, was disappointed and wondered what one must take to find this blurry mess crystal clear. It makes sense: you can't just wear the glasses of another person and see the same image as they do - otherwise oculists and optometrists would be half way out of a job. So in addition to hardware and software specs now headshape, eyesight etc. etc. are important to see if a headset is for you. I didn't think of that before (I have no glasses) and reviews of course ignore this.
  16. Thank you for your replies! That is exactly what drives me nuts. I'm trying to find the best headset for me but it seems that - even more so than with other hardware - there's no other way than trial and error since it is so dependant on personal factors and preferences and I simply can't solve it by reading..
  17. Hi there! I'v bought the Reverb G2 recently and it didn't work out for me. The edge-to-edge clarity of the G2 is awful for me and I guess my PC can't really power such high resolutions (RTX 2070 Super). Additionally shader mods oddly just didn't do anything as well. Now I've heard only good things about edge-to-edge clarity (in-focus clarity or whatever you call it) about the Valve Index and since the native resolution is lower I'm hoping for a better experience. Is there anybody out here who has both headsets and can confirm these thoughts?
  18. Exactly this is my impression with a 2070 super and a G2. I have the feeling even this card is too weak for what I want. I think it is a highly subjective topic, but I'd also recommend to wait for a new graphics card before trying VR.
  19. After some more google and reading discussions about the G2 I guess what I did wrong was using my eyes to look around, even a little bit. That's what was bothering me...apparently you "can" only look straight ahead and this area is sharp, the rest isn't because the sweetspot for the G2 seems to be reaaally small (I've read it before buying but obviously didn't really know what it means - I do now). The blurryness in the distance and poor fps are a question of adjustment; I didn't yet have the time to install the shader mod e.g. So the issue comes down to either live with the sweetspot and get used to it, buy another VR-set with a bigger sweetspot or don't use VR at all. In any case, thank you very much for your help!
  20. I checked and changed the setting to "steamVR per app-setting. What confuses the hell out of me is the fact that even in the steamVR "room" the text is blurry/not sharp, as if I'd need glasses. There must be something big I'm messing up here...
  21. If you mean me, I haven't changed anything there, so it should be the default value. I'm checking again tonight.
  22. Thanks again, I will try the shader mod and see if it improves. If the IPD of the G2 was too "big" (since it can't go lower than 60), I wouldn't be able to see anything sharp, correct? Sorry for asking again, but I just want to rule that out. I have googled this and up to 4 mm difference seems to be OK, but since I have no comparison how it should look like with correct lens adjustment I'm wondering if that's a problem.
  23. Thanks for the reply! PD is at 1.0, the force IPD option in the VR tab is off, slider on the G2 is set to 60 mm. I want to try to disable bloom and activate MSAA, maybe it gets better. If it is solvable by tweaking it's fine. I just don't want do spend weeks on that only to find out that it is just the way VR works and doesn't get any better.
  24. Hi there! I hope this is the right forums for my questions. I bought the Reverb G2 two days ago and I'm just not sure whether it is the correct vr set for me or if I have configured it correctly. My system consists of a Ryzen 7 3700X, RTX 2070 super and 16 GB RAM. My IPD seems to be 58/59mm. Resolution in SteamVR is 54 % as in Bignewy's guide, motion smoothing off. DCS settings are as mentioned in the guides, basically just high terrain textures. 1. The cockpit text and also the mouse cursor overlay of the F14 are mostly unreadable, except when it seems to focus on sth, which it only really does for the "UFC". 2. The terrain is blurry as hell and shimmers (as others mentioned before). 3. I hope my 58mm IPD is not the issue for this. I don't want to use the G2 for too long and then send it back, so my question is: are these issues due to misconfiguration and are solvable or do I have too weak of a PC or is this inherent for VR and unsolvable at the moment?
