  1. With the recent YouTube review of WW F16 ICP, the screen automatically displays and synchronizes to DCS F16 DED by simply launching SIMAPP PRO.

    My question is the following:

Is there a way to synchronize the DED without using SIMAPP PRO? Just like a normal MFD expansion.

I tried that few times but wasn't able to replicate the problem. Almost only thing how campaign can make DCS to crash is by spawning too many units same time. At that current point that doesn't happen. Unfortunately at least for now I can't tell what is causing this problem.

Mission 8 is counted as completed at that point so if this problem persists you can skip the mission and still be proud about your flying. Still I understand this kind of problem is very frustrating.

Thank you very much for replying!

It's seem a DCS problem. I will skip to M9.

The gun sight. What you see in this screenshot of the module that Heatblur posted on FB is all the HUD you will get in the F-4.

    Thank you for your explanation.

    I'm sorry I've only flown the F14, F15, F16, F18, and A10.

How can we know where the plane is heading without flight vectors? Especially when the Navy version of the F4 lands on an aircraft carrier.

Also, how can you know that a missile has locked onto an enemy aircraft during air-to-air?

Konnichiwa @western_JPN and @Kiseki_Yu. I've just tried it with Windows 11: I replaced my system language from French to Japanese, I then logged out and logged in, then I ran DCS. I reached the main menu and was able to fly.

Was your issue solved? And if it's not solved, are you still using Windows 10?

    Flappie san, konbanwa.

    Thank you for asking.

I switched my system from Windows 10 to Windows 11 a few months ago. After encountering issues with Google IME about DCS, I've been using Microsoft IME, and I haven't had any problems with DCS.

Hi, recently I picked up tomcat again and tried to land on the ground at Neills Air Force base, everything was fine before final touch down.

After touchdown, I found tomcat particularly prone to sideslip on the runway, I tried to compensate this problem by engaging antiskid spoiler with combination of rudder steering, and with full wheel brake, but tomcat still seems very prone to sideslip or even full drift after touch down, what is more awful is the rudder and spoiler would completely lost effect after lowering to certain speed, making aero steering completely useless, making me always rush out of the runway with no choice.

I would say I have never met with this issue ever before, and I tried to repeat to solve it  it at least 16 times with no solution.

maybe this is because heatblur had modified the ground handling of tomcat

could someone offer me a solution?

The same problem happened to me.

Nice image, I also like to customize my DCS background image, but instead of putting it into the DCS programs folder, where it could be overwritten by the next DCS update, I prefer to place it within /Saved Games/ and use it as a "User Theme", on this way:

    wJrVADW.jpg

    The result looks like this:

    SYmyzyV.jpg

A side benefit is that you can also include custom music. Here is a sample, so you can check the folder structure employed:

    https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ai6cuX3YQI26irAjzHWJQdHLh2hdnA?e=rOe7o7

(Its a link because of its 55 MB size, music takes up space) 🙂

Could you please tell me the name of the music which you used in the theme?

    This is tough one.

    1) I did 15 tests. 2 times Enfield 1 flight did not taxi at all. They should do it about 5 minutes from mission start. I haven't been able to find reason for that behavior and it seems random. Usually it's not random but there is some variables that by common sense should have nothing to do with each other and finding the connection is just difficult.

    2) There is another problem I found: If player taxies to catapult before Enfield 1 (you have to do a very fast start up to do it) they will taxi to cat after you but get stuck on cat. Of course that is not normal AI behavior and I think this is new one. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do about this kind of AI problem. If I do all normal procedures by checklist and they have time to taxi before me everything should work. Unless problem 1 activates of course😒

So. How to fix those two problems? I do not have solution for now but I continue looking for it. Because it is very frustrating to wait at rendezvous just to find out that AI can't start I suggest to look for Enfield 1 flight (those bastards in red circle in picture below) and If they have not started taxiing between 0410-0412 o'clock they won't do it at all and you just have to try again. I'm very sorry about this kind of problem and that I can't fix it at least for now.

The same problem happened to me. I went to Waypoint 1 but no further order came.

If it would be engine cuttoff switch your throttles should be on idle power and you hadn't. It seems that you can make air restart even with both engines shut down just by cranking. I think it doesn't work like that in real world.

Check also key bindings for Engine Fire Agent Discharge. But still it shouldn't shut down both simultaneously...

Did you do anything else but just flying when that happened?

    I did nothing.

When I shot down F5 and returned to CAP. But I executed DCS fast-forward, when I did CAP.

I tried to use the crank to restart the engines, but nothing happened.

Sure, that LUA file is used to send data out and I can easily add the lines to send the ICLS channel number.

What the export does is send each bit of data under a separate Export ID

For example(and made up)….speed is sent as a value on ID 292, heading is sent as ID 456, rpm left is sent under ID 2036 etc etc

Whatever you connect to read the export looks for the ID it wants and then uses that data.

Is there a particular ID number you wanted me to code this to?

If not I’ll send as I’d 88912 as the raw switch position is 912

Thank you very much! Please use ID88912.

  10. Recently, I was playing Operation Sandworm Campaign by Sandman Simulations, and the engine suddenly shut down twice during the flight. I had enough fuel, and I wasn't attacked or pressed the wrong button.

Is this a BUG? Has anyone encountered a similar situation?

  11. 2023/9/5 PM1点25分,Sandman Simulations说:

Unfotrtunately I can't figure out what else could cause that. Please report if that tends to happen regularly in some certain situation in the campaign.

In M4, when I was allowed to RTB, I once again experienced a sudden engine shutdown. I have absolutely no idea why this is happening.

Is it possible to restart the engine in the air?

  12. 1分钟前,Trigati说:

OK, is there a specific code number you want it output to?

Sorry, I do not understand what you mean. I want to output the ICL channel number by using your suggestion mentioned above. i.e. the following codes:

    channel = Round(mainPanelDevice:get_argument_value(912)/0.052) + 1

function Round(num) -- Rounds UP/Down to Nearest Whole Number
    return num % 1 >= 0.5 and math.ceil(num) or math.floor(num)
    end

Sure, although I'm not sure what I know will fully help you unless you are already familiar in getting a DCS data export into your chosen device (arduino or StreamDeck etc) as mI don't fully understand that level. If you're going to build a display I can recommend searching around for DCS-BIOS (flight panels fork might be best) and DCS-Export on github and this forum.

    GitHub - DCSFlightpanels/dcs-bios: DCS-BIOS Flightpanels Fork

I use DCS Export Scripts asherao/DCS-ExportScripts: DCS World Export Scripts (github.com)

    Simple Explanation:

This script file enables the export of data from DCS and is focussed on cockpit controls and gauges. In the F-14 the ILS selection dial is mainpaneldevice argument 912. DCS sends all these as a value usually between 0 and 1....and as there are 20 channels it works out as a value of about 0.05 per channel. So if the switch was set to channel 7 the value would be 7 x 0.05 = 0.35

In the LUA script that formats these export values you can run all sorts of functions and formatting, so you would reverse engineer this value to output the channel number in a readable format (if the value from DCS is 0.70 then divide that by the 0.05 to get channel 14.

    More Complex:

But it's not quite that simple, the selection knob has no 0/off position so when DCS sends a value of 0.0 it means channel 1 but the above simple math would tell you channel 0 - which does not exist. So we have to get the best approximate value and formula that works which works, so we set 0.0 value to equal channel 1 (by adding 1 to whatever we calculate the control position to be) and then split the value range of 1 into 19 (not 20) which is 0.0526315

This formula can be used to get the channel number from the DCS value: (VALUE/0.0526315) + 1 but you'll then need to round it to a single whole number to be readable in a display.

Here is my LUA code I use to do this:

    channel = Round(mainPanelDevice:get_argument_value(912)/0.052) + 1

And the Round() function I'm using in that is:

function Round(num) -- Rounds UP/Down to Nearest Whole Number
    return num % 1 >= 0.5 and math.ceil(num) or math.floor(num)
    end

    --------

How this is done in DCS-BIOS I have no clue, but I hope it gives you a good idea of what's needed.

I am so sorry that I don't know anything about editing LUA.

I copied two lines of code into F14B. lua, but nothing works.

Could you please kindly tell me exactly where I should copy them?

    Hi,

Unfortunately sounds like AI problem. But not very common one. Usually LSO should wave you both off if deck is full or you both are coming down about the same time. I can't tell you why it didn't happen this time. Landing sequence is completely AI dependent and can't be controlled by campaign maker.

Thank you for replying! Anyway, the M3 completed successfully.

I tied mission 2 again, it's not happen!

On the other hand, in mission 3, I returned to the carrier in Case III at the required time. That's when the music started (of a successful mission) and at the same time, the wingman (?) also landed on the carrier to crash me.

    Is this an AI bug?

I'm glad the mission completion was not affected.

In an export script you can take the switch position and convert it to the channel number and output that.

I’ve done this for a Streamdeck profile so should be just as possible for sending to another tool.

Sounds weird. There is no engine failure implemented in the mission and I suppose you didn't run out of fuel. Is there any chance you would have engine shut down key command accidentally behind some stick key?

Thank you for replying. I've bound different keys to turn off the left and right engines. I was having both engines shut down at the same time and my throttle was not in the off position.

By the way, I have about 8400 of fuel left.
