  1. Oh wow! I just copied you and what a difference! I’m not sure what fixed it. I get a little bit of stutter now and again. When I load my PCs performance monitor, VRAM maxes out. GPU at 90%, CPU around 40% but I feel like it’s a bit sharper. Especially the cockpit. I think it is. It seems like it. I feel I don’t need to lean in and see DDI text. It’s not 2D sharp. But it’s definitely readable. That is so much of a help! And my 5080 arrives Monday.
  2. I'll ChatGPT how to do that. I haven't done any changes, so maybe this will help. (My 5080 arrives Monday) Yes, I got the Performance Manager up last night, and noticed the VRAM on the card flat lining at 100%, CPU around 40%, GPU around 90%. That's in an Apache, and it was awful. Wobbly, like looking in jelly. Freezes etc. I hope the 5080 helps that. In the F/A-18, it smoother. Huey seems most smooth. Thanks for the help. Off to see how to disable Oculus Home and see what VRemptyHanher is.
  3. OK, that did NOT go well. Seemed a bit laggy on the separate Wifi AP. So decided to try the USB C cable, and it was way better. I assume the bitrate using the cable will always beat Wifi? Still using Meta Link (The Meta app). Would there be any benefit in using Virtual Desktop with the link cable?
  4. I've just setup a standalone wifi AP, called VR-Only. I've just joined that Wifi with my Quest 3. Work just decided to make me work. So I'll try that first. And maybe get Virtual Desktop too. I'll need to work out how to use that. I've been using the Meta app and AirLink for years. It seems Virtual Desktop is more configurable. So VD also adds better performance?
  5. I currently have a TP Link Deco Mesh wifi setup at home, and is Wifi 6. But all home devices are connected to one of the 3 mesh nodes. I don't have a separate wifi router connected, as I thought that having more than one Wifi access point close to each other degrades the overall wifi strength due to radio noise. I can try it. I can connect a small GL.iNet wireless router to my main router as a separate AP.
  6. I'm using a Wifi 6 router; however, it is the home access points (TPLink Deco Mesh). I have a small travel wifi router. I *think* it's wifi 6. I can maybe connect that to my wired router, and create it as a separate "DedicatedWifi" and only allow my Quest 3 on that. That may work? Does wired reduce compression, and maybe I should get a cable? Or should Wifi6, clean, make life better. I assume the freeze up, and then the weird wobble (Seems like it hs buffered all the picture and head movement while frozen and tries to catch up) would be wifi related? Will check those settings you mentioned. And thanks for the link to the VR section. Helpful!
  7. I’m using my Quest 3 using the oculus software direct and air link. im not blown away by the picture and i need to set a lot of settings low (video card is a 3080 (upgrading to 5080 soon - on order)) and even then, sometimes I get this weird freeze up, and then for a minute later - looks like I’m drunk. Like slow motion lagged and unplayable. Most of the time it catches up and all good. But it’s usually when I really don’t want it to happen. if I play in 2D, the picture is amazing on the monitor. But in VR, less scenery, washed out colours, stutters if I turn my head full and quick. I keep hearing of “open” something-or-other (Open XRS?) and virtual desktop and stuff. Is using the stock Oculus app and airlink part of my problem? Would virtual desktop be an improvement?
  8. I can't seem to find a valid subforum for hardware, but I am wondering if anyone knows - will I get a better picture if I upgrade my 3080 to a 5080, in VR using a Quest 3, with the goal to upgrade to a Pimax Crystal Light later in the year? But for now, if I got the 5080, would I see a significant (This is costing AU$2,000) improvement? I find that sitting (in VR) in a normal seated position, the instruments are 'blurry', and I need to lean in a bit to see the numbers accurately. Operating the DDIs is pretty much from memory, more than seeing the text next to each button. Just wondering if the 5080 will allow me to slide up some settings, to get a sharper picture.
  9. nullThe launcher shows '6' in 'Available'. But no items displayed when selected. I went to DCS site and activated the 14-day trial on Afghanistan - but I can't see how to get it to install. Is this a known issue or am I not doing something right?
  10. I work for a software company. We rate bugs in a specific order. No work around, and a major functional area being unusable. Affecting a percentage of users - is a P1 (Priority 1). We hotfix. Pull latest release branch. Fix bug and release the hot fix (current release + the fix) why can’t ED have done that? They say they have a fix. Patch it into the latest release.
  11. So just to confirm, as my darn headset went to v63 (And there was a 'recommended update' for the Oculus app), so I'm broken as well - there's currently no work around, as the PTC is no longer a thing - v63 is official and forced? There's mention of running someone elses uploaded executable... but ... I'd rather not. So for now, we just need to wait? And .... MSFS2020 it is?
  12. Ahhh crap! Same issue, and I JUST updated to 63 Oculus! :(
  13. Thanks for that! Sounds like a very good plan. Do you do a restart from the 'Server Settings'? Or is it a Mission Editor / M.O.O.S.E scripting it of code that triggers the restart? Would be nice to popup a "Hey, the server is restarting in 10 minutes" type message.
  14. Hi All, Hosting a little server, and if I restart it, people can and do join. But after an unknown period of time, between 15 minutes and an hour, no one can find the server on the server browser. I am able to connect directly with the IP, but it seems to not show on the server browser. If I go to my DCS profile, My Servers, I see the server listed as being alive for 9 days, or however long since I started it - but it won't appear in the server browser. If I click it in my profile, it shows as 'DCS Server' and never loads any details. It's as if the server is down. But I can connect via IP. So as I say, after re-start, it appears. So not a port issue that I can see. It seems maybe DCS somehow doesn't ping it to see if it's alive after that. I'm worried maybe my router is stopping 'pings' from DCS or something. null
  15. It happens as soon as I click the aircraft icon in the toolbar. The box goes gray and the error is written. strangly - if I open an existing mission - it works. It’s only on a new mission. That’s baffling me.
  16. I am unsure what has happened, but when I go into Mission Editor, Create new, and try to place an aircraft, I get a grey square where the aircraft details should show. All other things are fine. Ships, Helicopters. Just aircraft. I see an error appears in the dcs.log: Anyone know a fix for this?
  17. I think I saw this reported. And can’t find it. But hoping there’s a fix. I used to launch DCS by putting on my Quest 2, going into airlink. And launching DCS from “Recently played”. But now when I do that - as soon as it loads into the hanger view - DCs shuts down instantly. And I’m sent back to the Oculus Home. launching from the desktop with the Oculus on - works. I hope the fix is no “well then, launch from desktop”. Has anyone seen this and know a fix?
  18. And again after maybe 5 mins of play: I've set my page file to 32 Gig.
  19. DCS just freezing, and then closing for me a lot on a new build Fresh install. Flying any aircraft. Nothing in the log, but Windows Even Log shows this. And then the next logged even is an Info: Tha DCS log has nothing too exciting. It seems DCS goes away before it has time to know it died. Any help with tracking this down would be great
  20. I just did a full reinstall and things seem ok. I’m sure it worked first time last time though. So installing add on aircraft. Will check them.
  21. Just renamed open beta folder to Old. Restarted. Folder got recreated/ Same issue. Just closes down instantly.
  22. Ok. I’ll try this. Just to be clear: this was a complete reinstall. Formatted SSD etc.
  23. I had to rebuild my pc. I’ve reinstalled DCS and tested in the monitor. All good. But I am a VR chap. So loaded up on the Quest 2, the game loads but when it shows the hanger scene whereby it gets the menu - DCS just shuts down. Disappears. I checked the logs. No (significant) error when it dies. It just vanishes. Works fine in non-VR. (Log pasted below) Anyone seen this? RTX 3080. Ryzen 7 7700X. 32Gb 6200Mhz DDR5. Where can I even start debugging if there’s no error in the log file?
  24. I am trying to spawn a group, and then destroy it, so that I am able to spawn it again. I trigger both the Spawn, and then Destroy, from menu items for now, as I learn. My Spawn script file: LostCar = SPAWN:New( "Lost Car" ) :OnSpawnGroup( function( SpawnGroup ) SpawnedLostCar = SpawnGroup.GroupName end ) :Spawn() LostPerson = SPAWN:New( "Lost Person" ) :OnSpawnGroup( function( SpawnGroup ) SpawnedLostPerson = SpawnGroup.GroupName end ) :Spawn() This works. My groups spawns in, and all is great! But when I try destroy, things go bad. Here's my destroy script: DestroyCar = GROUP:FindByName(SpawnedLostCar) DestroyPerson = GROUP:FindByName(SpawnedLostPerson) DestroyCar:Destroy() DestroyPerson:Destroy() Nothing happens. But my log file reveals the error: It seems it can't find the SpawnedLostCar group. How can I fix this?
