  1. Am very interested in being a Hornet driver for you guys. I'm expert level with it. I can also fly the Tomcat skillfully, and AAR / trap _OK_ 3 Wires 8/10 times with both jets. I am learning the Eagle now, I can fly and refule fine, just need to learn it's weapon systems. I am also learning the viper.
  2. Context on that photo? I think most agree however, when thinking of the Phantom, especially the E variant, of Carrier Op's and Naval Aviation!
  3. Anyone want to fly some mission together with me or work on merges?

  4. That's such a shame. The F-4 is ICONIC for Cyclical ops in the Vietnam era. All the great photos are of Naval carrier based Phantoms. Sadly I'm going to pass on it then. And, tbh, I like my 4th gen jets
  5. nullHere are the other clips - They were too big. Im much comfier now in the Hornet. It's almost second nature. It's amazing, I remember 3 years ago saying "there is NO WAY I'll ever be able to refuel in the air, tried it a few times, and banged the desk with my hand. Funny what 3 years can do. Now I look forward to AAR's on missions sddds.mp4 Recording 2024-04-25 190018.mp4
  6. sddds.mp4 sddds.mp4 sddds.mp4 sddds.mp4 Interesting. For me, the Boom is problematic in that most Jets that use it don't have ATC like the Hornet or the Tomcat (to an extent)... That I'm aware of. Sometimes after grabbing the basket, and lining up my canopy right top with the Air Force logo on the KC130, I can tap ATC and match them in the box. The viper is so smooth though, that it flys like a dream. Just like the Hornet. The Strike Eagle on the other hand... let's just say it's a struggle. For me, as a Hornet driver. You make a good point tho, pick your poison. I'm starting to seriously learn the Viper, and I can make contact and hold, and only DC about 3-4 times before full. Any tips for the Boom for a vet Hornet driver? Also, do you use NVG's when gassing up at night? The Hornet has such good lighting from the receptical that I find it often easier to AAR at night w/o NVG. Unless there is bad weather or no moon. Check out these cool pics: 20240425-2301-32.2720041.mp4
  7. Appreciate your concise and well spoken response. PS - Would you like to play together online?
  8. Input would be greatly appreciated. Also, a bit OT, but is the F4 Phantom going to be Carrier capable?
  9. What helped me: First be able to catch a 3 wire every time. _OK_ or OK at worst (can be rarely 2 or 4 wire). This will help you gain control finesse. Second, Download a mission called KC130 Daytime refuel. It has a long pipe and flys about 280 indicated, straight on. At first just try and fly just behind and under it. Once you can do this, try to connect. There's constant throttle adjustments, and you stick movement. You cant stay still. Youre goanna connect and miss a lot. Its frustrating. It takes time. Gassing up helped me learn to fly formation. I think it's better to learn AAR then formation. But that's just me. Then once you can do the whole refuel, try the faster jets. In turns. At night, etc. PS - If you think gassing up the Hornet is hard, try doing something with a boom like the Viper or Eagle. You can barely move an inch! PPS - make sure you have some curve and some deadzone in you stick. I used 4% and 25% curve. I fly at 20-25 curve. Wow.
  10. Okay, thought so. Just was curious with the new slow speed flight changes. Thanks for the help!
  11. I never have in the past, tbh I barely use rudder at all in the hornet aside from taxing, it doesn't have much effect compared to the Eagle or Viper. Just curious as to what you fly. I've never seen rudder mention in NATOPS, just 27-30 degrees bank at 1.3-1.5 miles abeam the ship, with the VV right below the 0 bracket. Thanks.
  12. Anyone else having this issue? It makes the game unplayable currently with DLSS which is a real shame. Not sure if this affects other modules or not. Right now I have to play on MSAA 4X (They should allow 8 ) and in NVDA control panel, I use Enhance Application settings (8x). It's just really frustrating as everything else looks great aside from this, but this small issue makes it unplayable. And the Frame increase from DLSS is very nice.
  13. I prefer the smooth zooming effect of the Lightning, but as a Hornet driver I try and stay true to Navy flight and use the ATFLIR. Why is it not carrier approved? Curious.
  14. Hey guys, So I'm having trouble with ACLS. I can get everything working, the tadpole pops up, etc. However, when I go to click on AP, CPL mode, it goes into either CPL TCN or CPL HDG. What am I doing wrong?

  16. Yeah, the first tie I was just doing a normal TO with some crosswinds in Vegas, and after a smooth and elegant lifting of the nose to a optimal AOA and FPM climb, when the jet rolled to the 180 and I had to egress upside at 40 feet agl - I knew she had some quirks! She does however offer impressive opportunity for training and mastery of it's flight profile. SVTO/L handles incedibly well once you practice - I'd like to try to recreate that movie scene where they are in hover firing off Mav's and sidearms. Second, AAR is a dream! once you get this plain stead it stays STEADY! Especially if you add a little bit of AP/Stabilization. First plane in DCS I ever got to drink with! And one more but surely not all - THE THING HOVERS!
  17. I'll stay short and concise: The training is bar none the best in DCS. Leagues above anything else. Every aircraft should follow the lead of this system. The short versions are great too for homing specific skills or if you don't have all day. The AP / Stability systems are how they should be on other jets, the AV-8B is an older jet and it has imo the best stability augmentation in the game. Makes refueling or orbiting an ease while dialing weapons systems, etc. Hovering is challenging but rewarding. I appreciate how you guys didn't make it easy mode like the F16. Carrier landing is amazing. I'm just blown away. Will add more later. Thanks guys.
