  1. I probably should have elaborated ..... I wasn't referring to people on this or any other forum or even my personal life. There are many outsiders doing harm out there. Cheers!
  2. I wasn't aware of Don until I stumbled across a link to this thread over on PointCTRL's Discord, but now I'm sad as hell but impressed by his classy closing efforts. Now I suppose Don can fly anywhere he wishes..... RIP P.S. For whatever reason, everybody I would not mind going, ever seems to go. EDIT: I am NOT referring to anybody on this or other forums, nor in my personal life. Just in general, observing the world and the news around me.
  3. Thanks for the quick reply! I'll go ahead and license VoiceAttack but looks like it's best to hold off on VAICOM until we know more about its fate and future functionality - it's not a big purchase expense; I just don't want to commit to the time and effort if it goes 4-paws-up.
  4. EDIT: After posting, I noticed the messages just above with concern about no dev contact and possible product abandonment, compounded by impending DCS changes that might break it. I'm disappointed because I just discovered VAICOM and it looks great up to this point, but I suppose my best move for now is to do nothing until more is known. I would like to know if anybody has tried what I have in mind below, just in case. Thanks. Before I get started on the purchase/install/configuration for both VoiceAttack and VIACOM....... I have DCS open-beta installed for both Steam and Standalone - would I install these twice in the appropriate DCS directories to make them functional in either one? Any need to buy any of the licenses inside Steam? (I'd rather pay direct to maximize revenue for the developer.) Thanks for any guidance you might have for me!
  5. I'm just about there to put in an order, but reading above a bit, there's something I hadn't thought of. I have a Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS mounted to the left and right sides of my Secretlab chair using Monstertech mounts, but they each have "appendages" outboard of the HOTAS - on the left/throttle side I just mounted a support to hold my 15-button Stream Deck (it's about the same elevation as the throttle handles, and just outboard of them) and on the right side I have a Monstertech "mousedesk" platform for mousing, that sits about at the height of the stick's base, which sits on top of an extension. So here's my question: if I take my hand off either HOTAS device to point at and activate button(s) with the PointCTRL, will I be banging my hands into any of this stuff in VR, particularly when messing with left/right consoles in the aircraft? Can it be calibrated or offset so that handwaving is above or outside this hardware? When playing VTOL-VR, I fold both of them 90-degrees rearward because otherwise I'd be banging the VR controllers into it, and that just barely clears in-use, but obviously that won't be an option when using everything in DCS. And one more that I hope I didn't miss an answer to above: will PointCTRL work when connected to a non-powered USB 3.0 hub that is connected to a motherboard USB port? All that stuff you see in this photo is connected to that hub under the chair, so only one wire goes from the chair to the PC. Thanks, guys!
  6. This is quite late, but your post is new to me. I just wanted to say thanks for mentioning this. It's not the problem I was having, but it triggered my brain into realizing that Tobii Eye needs that .dll in that directory to function. The problem I was having is that Tobii Eye was working ok in my standalone DCS Open Beta, but not in the Steam Open Beta, so I copied that .dll to the corresponding Steam directory and voila - it works! Very cool! I'm sort of migrating over to the Steam version, assuming it performs ok, because there are some tools I want to use but I believe only function in the Steam environment. Specifically OVR Toolkit, which I've figured out how to use to display my Stream Deck buttons in realtime as a floating masked window. Using the Toolkit's "chromakey" feature lets me make the window background transparent and place/size the floating button caps anywhere in the cockpit I wish. The goal is to get Steam Deck programmed to fully replace any keyboard commands I'd need to execute aside from the functions available from the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS and mouse clicks, while making sure the button display doesn't get in the way or too distracting. So, thanks again - I was searching for an answer for almost a week when I stumbled upon your posting.
