M8 AAR Issue
Hillman replied to kriztoefur's topic in DCS: F/A-18C Operation Mountain Breeze Campaign
Yes, I double-checked this creating a simple mission with a 2-plan flight and asking my wingman to "go to tanker". If I then call the tanker I will get the starboard hose. If I call the tanker first and then ask wingman to hit the tanker, I will get the port hose. Played around a bit on this and pretty sure this is how it works. -
M8 AAR Issue
Hillman replied to kriztoefur's topic in DCS: F/A-18C Operation Mountain Breeze Campaign
I had the same probelm in M13: Impossible to refuel on the right hose. No problem on the left. I seem to remember plugging on the right in M8. In M13 I arrived after Lead already had finnished. I wonder if that is the problem... (If left is not in use, then right is not working? Something to test...) -
Hi, I think I followed the instructions (ask for ground power, switch on battery, ext. power reset (which springs back to mid pos) and then swithces P1-P4), but the radio won't turn on and the alignment wont start. Most instruments work, but not the radio. Only when I start the R engine can I progress. Am I missing something herre?

R1 temporary bug fixes (currently: M02)
Hillman replied to baltic_dragon's topic in F/A-18C Raven One Campaign
I had no issues until I was sent to intercept the enemy. The callouts from the Awcs said the altitude was 15.000, but in reality he was at 1.000 feet. The bullseye references was correct though. He was extremely fast and I ran out of gass before I could hit the tanker after being called off the chase... Apart from this issue with the altitude callouts the mission seems to be fine. -

Hi, A question not strictly related to the campaign, but anyway: When locating the enemy the JTAC says something like "3.5 miles to the north of <known point>"; How du I judge 3.5 miles when operating the TPOD? Thanks for a great campaign!

Extreme oscillations in motion after shuttle hook-up
Hillman replied to BrassEm's topic in Bugs and Problems
I have the DOF H3 rig and confirm I have the same problem entering the catapult shuttle. Clearly there must be something off here and I don't understand why not ED can look into this without having a motion rig available. I would assume the telemetry is possible to capture without? Anyway I have managed to reduce the oscilations by tuning up the "Smoothing Effects" on the "Sway" effect/axis in SRS (the software for the rig). Of course this then reduce other cases for this effect, but at least I can launch now. -
Initial feedback M1 & M2

Also look into if you can disable afterburner use for lead until the time of actual combat. I recently watched a youtube from Spudnocker explaining this feature in the ME. -
Mission 3 and overall AI lead
Hillman replied to Eng's topic in DCS: F/A-18C Operation Mountain Breeze Campaign
Hi, I enjoy the campaign, but I get a bit frustrated with leads fuel-management where he/she constantly use the afterburner after a turn on way to target or in a holding pattern. I understand there now is a way in DCS to restrict the AI from using AB. It would be great if this could be enabled until you get to the actual battle. This I believe also would make it a bit easier to keep in formation and avoid all the complaints from lead. I enjoy the fact that you are actually not flying lead, but the abrupt flying from the AI makes it a bit frustrating sometimes. -

I changed my speed from 420 kts to 570 kts and this fixed the problem! -

mission 9 part 2 sa10
Hillman replied to ayousry's topic in F/A-18C Rise of the Persian Lion II Campaign
Hi Badger, I have the same problem; I drop the bombs as soon as I get the "in range" on the HUD, but they always seem to fall 200-300 meters short of the target. I make sure I'm level and with a speed of ca 400 kts. If I wait too long I'm always hit by the SAM. Any tips? By the way; really enjoy this campaign and have all your campaigns now. Very clear explained, interesting plots and good voice acting. Also like things that you sense the radio channel swithcing etc. Looking forward to getting started on Green line. Hope you will make something for the newer maps as well. -
I have had this setup with DOF H3 and Pimax Crystal Light for a year now and have some input: First I think it's very important to also get a motion compensation device if you are in VR. There are a few ways to do this, but I chose the Witmotion sensor that SRS (software vendor) recommends. Without the motion compensation you will get strange motions around inside the cockpit since the headset will pick up the headset moving around in the room in the real world while you are actually sitting relatively still in your cockpit seat in the virtual world. Some remarks on the OP input: >Maybe it was the tuning of the software, but both left me a little underwhelmed on the first try in each. It was less about the amount of roll, but more the speed of response. Neither felt truly natural, e.g. the squat you get under breaking whilst driving The speed and reaction is actually very fast/strong. This can and must be tuned. I experienced the whole rig jumping around on the floor when for example crashing because I had too high speed. There are many sliders for max angel, speed, boost, smoothing etc. and this needs to be tuned. (There are some example profiles to be found, but not many for DCS. Hopefully more people will have this setup over time and we will see more examples.) So I don't think you should be worried about the speed of the response. Of course it's electric motors and some inertia is unavoidable, but I have not experienced this as a problem. >Whilst I wasn't that impressed with either DOF unit whilst using a monitor, that impression changed when in VR, which I got to use with FS2020. I can't explain why, but when I was in VR, the feeling of immersion from the DOF was significantly more effective The combination of visual input in VR and physical input combined is very strong. A complete roll or loop won't feel totally realistic of course, but banking and pitching feels very real. Even though the banking angle of the rig is much less than in the VR world the combination makes it feel very real. Having a motion rig without VR don't make sense to me, at least not for flightsims. Below you see some of the parameters that can be tuned for the motion part. a27d24_39919c0801394f14b84b2ad3909056a7_mv2.avif

>I could certainly see the potential if it was possible to improve the response speed Did you do any tweaking in the SRS software. The response speed is very good in my view if you pull the leavers all the way. In fact I had to dial it back several notches as I was nearly thrown out of the seat when crashing. A VR headset is a must, I don't think you will get the immersion with a flat screen.
