fixed 12th February 2024 Login problems
SwingWingDriver replied to RWC's topic in Forum and Site Issues
Sweeeeet! I just fired up DCS after a long hiatus. I purchased a next level flight seat pro to finally mount all my winwing goodies on so I can get flying again. I came to update everything and was told my FC3 wont activate because of login, at least its not just me, as long as I know everything should be up and running Tuesday when my chair arrives and I cat get crashing again (cant land) -
SwingWingDriver started following Meet and Greet , Trim... and Monstertech mounts, anyone ordered?

Hello pilots, I have a question regarding trim and I cant seem to find the answer so here's the question. I see a lot of videos etc that mention setting trim when you get to altitude to fly level, in formation or A2A refuel. I have the trim setup for all my planes to the trim hat on the WinWing Orion F15EX stick. No matter how I set the trim, it never stays level, it either starts nosing up or nosing down. Even when I tap for microseconds to just ever so barely nudge the hat to try to get a decent balance it simply never works without nosing up or down within a few seconds. When I have it set, I still have to make a lot of manual adjustments in the opposite direction just to keep it balanced. I have spent entire 45 minute flights trying to see if I could get a plane trimmed properly but it always favors one way or another. Is this the norm or an I missing some basic or advanced concept? P.S Altitude hold in autopilot works frickin great, but using the trim hat not so much Thanks!

Definitely give the USB hub a try. I have an expensive powered USB3 hub dedicated to my flight setup. When Im ready to fly I mount the HOTAS to a Monstertech chair HOTAS mount, put on my TrackIR hat and hit a button on the hub. It has 12 ports, and every 3 has its own power button so my flight gear is only powered on when I need it to be and the hub eliminates bad inpouts due to voltage sag on the motherboard USB. Most mfgrs actually recommend powered USB hubs but a lot of people dont utilize the recommendation.

Trying to get in the Scene - Prefab Questions
SwingWingDriver replied to AestheticCredit's topic in New User Briefing Room
I run a PC repair shop in AZ, I see iBuyPower all the time. I've had to replace parts on 2 month old iBP machines that the buyer hadn't even got to run. I'm not here to be an elitist, but iBuyPower is a real gamble with your money. For the OP, that machine should absolutely run DCS just fine, I run it on an ASUS Strix laptop with close to those specs (Ryzen7 4800H / RTX3060) and have no issues at all. I despise Radeon cards because of their driver issues, which sounds like what you could be facing. I've had to fix enough prebuilts from major brands to know that they are not put together with care, and quite often it doesn't even seem like their assemblers know the first thing about PCs. Try updating your Radeon drivers, run your Windows Update and look for the section for drivers and grab any chipset driver updates you may find. Keep us in the loop and we will get you going. -
TrackIR 5 with NVIDA GPU Drivers???
SwingWingDriver replied to TonyRS's topic in New User Briefing Room
FWIW I run a Winwing F16EX w shaker, Orion2 throttle, Virpil ACE pedals and both the camera and LED TrakIR5 unit on a powered USB hub. This was a $75.00 hub, not your average low priced hub. I also charge my phone and run an LED R2D2 off of this hub and have zero issues. I havent ran anything but an nVidia card for well over a decade and frankly, Corsair iCUE gives me more issua that any nVidia driver ever has. -

Thanks, I am a PC geek (also my job) so thats only 1 of my setups, I have 4 fully functional gaming stations I can setup in my office. I have never and will never run a battery backup, I would need a monstrous one keep my system running after a power outage and Im not in California so i'm not worried but next to that triple screen, i9 +3080Ti machine I have an i7 + 1080Ti machine with a 35" monitor. I have purchased FC3 and downloaded all of the free planes i could find that work with 2.7 , and only own the free maps Caucaus and Marianas. I just dropped 1K for a whole new set of flight gear so I wont be purchasing any modules for a while, at least until I make it through all of the tuts on takeoff, landing and radar, Ive never played a realistic sim before but I have flown a lot in space sims and some MSFS about 15 years ago. Well there was the Harrier game on Commodore 64 WAY back when, and the first almost successful landing I ever almost made was ruined when my mother started yelling at me and made me shut i down. Now, if I can skid out, lose my wings and eject before exploding on the runway, I feel ive done good.

I just got my TrackIR and went home for my lunch break to test it out. I launched a testing labs mission in Mechwarrior online, where the application is limited by which mech you pilot, some have dismal views but some have a lot of cockpit glass and it was amazing to move in the cockpit environment and be able to see things that you would normally have to twist your whole torso to see, small mechs who like to snipe from ridges better watch out, I can see them now! I run a triple monitor setup so my situational awareness with the trakcIR should be outstanding. Going to do the setup and tuning tonight in DCS and start getting used to the whole thing. My Winwing has shipped and is supposed to be in on Monday 19th and hopefully my VirPil ACE rudders will be on the way soon. Now I have to get my xmas wish lists out to everyone, I need DCS modules

Hey Pilots! I am pretty new to DCS, got interested WAY back when watching formation flying videos but never really looked into DCS for some reason. Now Im in, purchases FC3 of course, and have the Winwing F15EX/Hornet throttle and VirPil rudder pedals on the way, and my trackIR arrives today. I decided to go all in since I found out DCS is (somewhat) free and I intend to get back into Star Citizen and hopefully MSFS, plus Starfield. I am a PC repair technician and work on a lot of peoples gaming PCs, and a lot of older fellas came in with MSFS on their system so I played around with it while testing system stability and realized I needed to get back into flying. I'm learning basic handling at this time, and starting to throw in hot start takeoffs to learn the whole flying thing a bite at a time. Once all my gear arrives and I get configured and start hitting the startup, takeoff and landing tutorials I hope to see yall in the skies. MechWarrior Online/DCS tag TimBuckToo

After watching formation flying videos a few years back and finding GR and GS, I decided to make the SSD space and install. I am currently learning to fly again, mostly just free flight until I can get good controls worked out. My 3 year old very lightly used t16000 HOTAS likes to throw in full right rubber from either stick or paddles on the throttle. Hopefully soon I will be ordering a Winwing setup and TrackIR. I do digital artwork and used to skin for Star Wars Galaxies so I have all the DDS tools and I made a full F15 MTD skin. Cant wait to learn this ridiculous pile of data so I can really start having fun. I may be looking for a group to join if theres any casual/training groups in this community. I am currently in a group in MWO and we do dropnights Tue and Thu nights every week
