Thanks - this was an issue in the past but is not the issue now as I tried that several times over. BTW the sticky posts on this forum saying to go to Varjo support for help are complete and utter nonsense... they want no part of that. "go ask our users" so no difference than asking questions here.... really annoying being mislead by developers trying to shift responsibility off to each other or the user base because they know the users are hardcore troubleshooters and will do the work for them = LAZY

OK, sorry just twigged. You're running the Steam version of DCS not standalone? HUH? There's a standalone version? First I'm hearing of it? Where do you purchase it?
-
Yes, it had to reacquire 9 files. I have no mods. Using this now: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DCSWorld\bin-mt\DCS.exe" --force_OpenXR

I got it working again with SteamVR/openVR - I noticed a lot of input lag on my warthog stick with the F-16 on Sinai but I am wondering if this is just Sinai map being laggy... ?? I am officially giving up on MT/openxr until it's better supported. I got like 30% higher FPS with it when it was working on the very first patch but I can't get it to launch under any circumstance anymore - just loads the 2d game mode ignoring my shortcut extensions...
-
9 DCS files failed to validate in steam and were reaquired. Reinstalled Varjo base. Used the github app to set it to VarjoRuntime. Try to use the MT shortcut - still loads 2d- still loads steamvr. Why is it still trying to load steamvr???
-
It might be that the Varjo dock device is failing again. They already had to send me a replacement for the first one. If i'm being honest I don't think I would buy this again with hindsight. I'm about to just give up on VR and use trackIR instead cause this simply isn't worth the amount of time troubleshooting.

I'm also having a problem with Varjo whenever I reboot the computer Varjo has lost contact to the HMD and I have to unplug and plug back in the Varjo headset cable and then it's back online - the aero never did this before I hadn't used it for like a month or so prior to this. I'm starting to wonder if I need to reinstall VarjoBase Edit: I think my Varjo might be failing. I can't even get a stable steamvr session no matter what I do. It's like it just completely lost it's ability to interact with steamvr. I also tried moving it ports on my Asus Strix 4090 and it's still doing the same thing. I also tried disabling Hardware GPU scheduling (4090). Still doing the exact same thing launching in 2d. I shoudl also point out that 2d mode DCS seems unstable. It often loads to a complete black screen or takes like 20 seconds to finally show up the main menu then it will randomly go black again. I had to sign out of windows in order to recover the desktop because it was hanging. The varjo virtual desktop works fine though.... Edit: Everytime I try to play DCS in VR with Aero I spend 8 hours troubleshooting crap and 30 minutes flying... becoming a pattern lately

I'm running out of things to check. Dont' really want to re-install 500gig... Is this not a glaring problem (screenshot)?
-
Will i lose my control settings if i reinstall to a different location?
-
Zildac - did this running the exe as admin and it was already set as runtime, nothing to change. edmuss - i have been launching steam with admin priv and also run my MT DCS shortcut with admin priv - so probably shouldn't be that, right? Do you guys get the steam launch warning window popup that says "do you want to run these extensions yes/no?" it does this everytime i launch the shortcut Edit: Does HDR being on in windows matter???
-
Nope. VR headset has been enabled entire time. I turned openvr back on in Aero settings. Exact same result - launches in 2d... I am feeling like i sabotaged some settings somewhere idk...
-
I am now opening WMR for the first time ever and initial setup is started. I never opened it before.... thanks for babying me here. Edit: Nevermind, WMR doesn't even see the headset at all
-
ehhhh i might have done this for troubleshooting or on a recommended comment i saw, yes.... now i am lost again to find this setting. Do I have to enable openvr just to get the full steamvr menu back? When I go into settings right now it has almost nothing in it even with the advanced tab slide to on. There was something special i had to do before to get the full settings to present themsevles, right? Edit: Oh also the steamvr setting specifically for Varjo is turned on under "manage add ons"

I keep trying to launch with forced openxr and openvr turned off in Aero and it tries to open steamvr EVERY SINGLE TIME and then loads the game in 2D. I am using shortcut settings for the MT process like this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DCSWorld\bin-mt\DCS.exe" --force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR Just basically ignores it and launches in 2d anyways. The steamvr pops with all sorts of errors for why steamvr isn't on or w/e. Why is it trying to use steamvr????? Anyone? I have foveated turned off, openvr turned off(aero settings0, and vsync also turned off. According to everyone else's comments and posts this is the settings everyone is using... yet it still tries and fails to use steamvr. Why?
-
I meant to pick steamvr-openxr but picked openxr. 12900ks-4090-6000mhz32mb-varjo aero using max res no foveated no vsync It seemed like launching in openxr a few weeks ago was massively better performance in MT. Like 50% more frames up from 50s to 75/80. Then a patch hit and it wouldn't launch to vr anymore and I haven't been back - think i'm gonna try tomorrow to check out Sinai. Some others in this thread talking about massive stuttering in openxr it was one of the graphics settings in game that was doing it I am sorry I am terrible no help I forgot which one but I was able to clear that, do process of elimination in halves - you'll find it. I feel like it might have been AA, clouds, or water, but i may be lying

I am launching it from short cut for the Multi-threaded exe. OpenXR and Varjo Aero do not work in native mode anymore. It opens steamVR every single time and tries to force openVR mode, even with openvr turned off in the varjo. It was only the last open beta patch that broke it.... To reiterate: 1. I don't have any extra programs, just varjo base, steam, and DCS. 2. DFR is on, vsync is off, motion prediction is off All of you guys running the game in SteamVR mode are living with higher latency and lower frames - native OpenXR was BUTTER last patch and now I can't get it to work again.

Varjo Aero: Общее руководство для новых владельцев
WeCantAllBeNavy replied to Supmua's topic in Virtual Reality
OpenVR disabled in varjo base and trying to launch native openxr with the DCS MT shortcut and --force_VR doesn't seem to work after most recent patch. It tries to launch steamvr in openvr mode and gets a HMD error, then launches the DCS game in 2d mode anyways. Anyone know what changed or why this solution doesn't work anymore? -
Negative - neither of these did anything, either with MT shortcut or with steam command extension, still launches in 2D mode, still launches steamVR. Also the enablde VR headset IS checked inside settings of game.
-
Halp - most recent update in last week or two broke native openXR without steamVR - now the game is forcing steamVR to start. This is open beta I'm talking about. Can't go even one update without VR being broken again. I've had to stop and troubleshoot the last like 3 updates in a row. FYI I am using a varjo aero and had the aero set to only use openxr and then I launch the DCS MT exe from shortcut with the --force_steam_VR in the shortcut. Steam asks me for confirmation on the extension when I launch it - is this being accepted correctly? Then it launches the game in 2D mode and not in VR like it used to pre-patch and it also opens SteamVR at this moment, which of course reports a HMD problem since openVR is disabled in the varjo. Thoughts?
-
No, this is something much more noticeable like a 500ms ghosting latency when looking at the interior of cockpit. It's something in software that is not working together with the forced VR mode and openXR being forced, I think. I will have more time this weekend to troubleshoot it.
-
Motion smoothing is OFF. Also I was just using this 2 weeks ago and its' not "normal" it wasn't doing it then.
-
I was using the OpenXR solution launching with the forceVR setting and OpenVR disabled in the Varjo Aero, steamVR not loaded at all, and now when I try to run the multithreaded DCS I'm getting a kind of ghosting/latency whenever I move my head, in cockpit, of the F-16. If I just hold my head steady there is no ghosting or image latency, good frames. Vsync is off, motion smoothing off, 39 PPD, relatively high graphical settings in game, water medium, enabled VR headset option is set in DCS settings. I'm running a 12900ks, OC'd 4090 on a custom loop, 6000mhz ram. Any ideas? Is this a specific graphics setting in DCS maybe? It's unbearable to use this way but would like to use the multi-threaded dcs obviously...
