  1. @Nealius After reading your contribution it makes sense to me now why in A10CII BTF09 basic training campaign from Maple Flag, nightly instrumental ILS landing under thunderstorm conditions, the runway in Batumi remains unlighted and covered the whole descend in clouds/fog. Clouds are set, according to the BTF09 briefing, at an altitude of 900, however according to your info every cloud setting below 1900ft results in a cloud base at sea level anyhow. Good to know, despite ILS guidance, landing the bird becomes more a Russian roulette game, anyway thanks for finding out. BlackHeron
  2. Hi fellow pilots / Maple Flag Remark/question about this mission. Can it be that the weather conditions in this module have recently changed significantly? (thunderstorm) Reason for asking: previous Youtube movies of some years ago, of this particular mission, show completely different weather conditions. Under current thunderstorm conditions the tail winds, cross winds, visibilty and turbulence during landing are quite a feat. Despite the ILS and NV it is a continuous struggle to keep the Warthog from stalling, maintaining the correct AoA, correct trim and avoid too excessive drifting. This results in overshoot, landing short or miss the runway completely. So any tips and tricks how to tackle this mission? Thanks, help is much appreciated. BlackHeron
