BTF09 ILS landing A10C ll

Hi fellow pilots / Maple Flag

Remark/question about this mission. Can it be that the weather conditions in this module have recently changed significantly? (thunderstorm)

Reason for asking: previous Youtube movies of some years ago, of this particular mission, show completely different weather conditions. Under current thunderstorm conditions the tail winds, cross winds, visibilty and turbulence during landing are quite a feat. Despite the ILS and NV it is a continuous struggle to keep the Warthog from stalling, maintaining the correct AoA, correct trim and avoid too excessive drifting. This results in overshoot, landing short or miss the runway completely.

So any tips and tricks how to tackle this mission? Thanks, help is much appreciated.

Last time we flew it it was challenging but doable.  As I recall we used a crab landing into the wind while maintaining alignment with the runway and straightened out at the last second before touchdown.

Will retest to see if the weather effects have changed and we will tweak them to reduce the effect if we can.
