Back long is the correct action. This just brings up the list of his last target search, then you can select another target from it. It doesn't make him repeat the search.

Ok, I've worked out why whywouldn't land at Til Saman... There was an object placed too close to the landing area. Even though it wasn't actually on it, it was just too close.
