Yes, there's firmware update for the Cougar. Go to thrustmaster folder under program and you should see that option. -
THUSTMASTER COUGAR CAUSES COMPUTER AND SIM TO CRASH

Are you talking about updating the firmware? I did update the firmware to the latest but I will try your suggestion when I get home tonight. Thanks. -
Every time I plugged in my Cougar, the computer went "crazy." If clicked on a folder, multiple folders would open. Unplugging it would return everything back to normal. Running the sim is impossible because the sim would load but becomes unresponsive to input. If I was able to plug the Cougar in without any problem, the sim would become unresponsive to control input sooner or later in the mission. Thanks for your help in advance.

Just got myself a Acer touchscreen coupled with Helios and the sim becomes so much enjoyable now. I would recommend getting a big touchscreen monitor. Looks much nicer and fits a lot on there.

Multi-monitor and Touch Screen Set Up

I agree that TIR would be supplemental. What's the difference between TIR 4 and 5? Thanks. -
Multi-monitor and Touch Screen Set Up
Bruins replied to Bruins's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
@Loz Thanks for your input, Loz. I want similar set-up like yours and I notice you have crossfired? If so, do you find it beneficial. I read some of the posts here saying that it's not really worth it. Also, how do you like your touchscreen. I have been thinking of getting an Acer. Thanks. -
Hi guys, I have been thinking of getting two more monitors (3 total) and a touch screen monitor for A10-C. My question is: Is trackIR necessary? I really like the idea of using MS Kinect in place of trackir. I know that's not possible at the moment but I don't want to spend $160 (tir 5) for something that likely to be replaced by something better. Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. Very helpful for beginners. I know there's a manual for this sim but this kind of tutorial is what I need. Very grateful for taking the time, Fish.

Thanks very much to all of your suggestions. I've learned a bunch and am getting a hang of it now. As many of you've suggested, using trimming for pitch is much easier than the stick. And of course, practice makes perfect.:)

After reading through the forum, I understand trimming is often needed during flight. But my plane seems to either take a dive or pitch up when I try to land. I find myself fighting the stick to get the AOA correct. When you're on a glideslope, are you supposed to manually pitch down (stick forward)? My landing is very unstable if not erratic. Thanks for your suggestions.

Thanks very much for sharing.

I am planning of doing the same. I have ati 5870 video card. Need to save up for 2 more monitors though.

Edit: figured it out. Hi All, My Cougar is working fine with F4AF but not with FC 2. There's a column in Options says Thrustmaster Cougar but it's grayed out. I am planning to get the A-10 too but is this some issue with DCS games? I googled but did not find anything. Please help! Thanks.

Are today's TM Cougars any good?
Bruins replied to Bruins's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks guys for the info. I do have one problem setting up the radar cursor/enable stick located on the throttle. It is not recognized at all when I tried to calibrate it. One other funny thing is that the ant_elev knob is recognized by the DX_XROT_AXIS instead of DX_THROTTLE_AXIS, as per the manual. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. -
Are today's TM Cougars any good?

Thanks for the info, Deadman. -
I am aware of all the issues about the internal components of the Cougar but that was a while ago. I just bought a new Cougar and was wondering if Thrustmaster had resolved the issues surrounding the pots and gimbals with today's Cougars. My Cougar serial number is 36964 but I do not know if this is recent manufactured serial number or not. Also, my throttle makes mechanical clicking sounds at both ends of the spectrum. Is it supposed to make any clicking sounds? Other than the clicking sounds and the potential failures of internal components, this hotas is a beast. Really love it so far. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi guys, I was wondering if any of you know why combat flightsims are not multi-monitor supported. I am talking about the field of view (FOV) here. To me FOV is most important in any sim. Look what Microsoft FSX can do. I am in the process of building a pc for the new warhog and I was very excited about eyefinity the game supports. Does eyefinity give us better FOV? Any input or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
