  1. Hi and thank you for the reply. Update : after lots of fiddling around and start / stopping and unplugging I have settled on the following which seems to be stable and predictable. 1) Used a second 10 port hub of top quality and plugged the 3 DDI screens next to each other plus the UFC and a track Ir feed. Nothing else. Connected to the strongest USB 2 output port on the PC I could find. Result screens maintain portrait position below main screen in Windows 11 dispay panel ( I know that the postion is not imperative but this is the ultimate for me) 2) Set refresh rate in Nvidia and Windows dispaly to 240 hz . It now maintains 240 hz without flickering except on some ping sites of 250 and over. UK - Australia being the farthest. I would like to reduce the size of the numbers in this corner but the Coursair software is so clunky I cannot find a means of doing this so I have a flop over black velvet patch that covers it. Given this is the Coursair flagship monitor it is the only one you cannot chnage settings via a software app and cable remotely. You have to mess about with a really clunky wobble switch at the base of the monitor and given this is now 2.5 ft away and behind the DDI instrument panel its a pain. 3) Display Fusion program is not used now at all and whilst its a great program its unnecessary now. The really important tip here from you was the three-ganged DDI plugs together. I did try this on 3 sockets that were available on the first 10 port hub but the images in the display panel were to the side og the main screen, whereas if used on a separate one dedicated to them only the images were below and the system more solid, retaining that position on reboot every time plus 240 hz refresh rate not acheivable before. Thank you once again David
  2. Hi, I have been busy testing this and had a GOOD RESULT !! Basically I have a good quality high output 10 port hub connected to a USB 2 high output and it had three ports spare. So I have connected the DDI's together on that port at the beginning of the line and removed completely the "Display Fusion" program. This sounds very simple but I backed up settings and screen shots in case this did not work out. Endless re starts because I was also trying to get my screen refresh rate higher as well. It does not like 240 hz and settles well at 100 hz and frankly I dont think I can tell the difference. Windows 11 HOLDS the position of the screens and I have set them portrait under the main screen in the Display setting window. Then with Simm App pro I set the screens to the ID shown and this also seems to hold nicely now. In the settings panel of the start up DCS window it shows a screen of 3440 x 2464 ( not 1440) and that 1440 setting seems to disrupt things a bit so I have left it at 2464 with WWing as 1 screen which it defaulted to. So currently one piece of software less to interfere or have to test if anything goes wrong in the future but that "Put all three DDI's in the same hub in line one after the other was GOLD DUST". So I now have a stable system with a better main picture which frankly is stunning anyway and less bits to go wrong . I thank you very much for all the help and detailed info you have given to get me here after battling with this for months. Maybe just maybe I might be tempted to have another go at VR in the `New Year but I am still not sure how you see the DDI screens apart from a fuzzy pass thru. Some one will complete the circle one day and then it will be so good . Its like DCS improving the video output to the Wing Wing screens instead of the Re Shade work around. Thank you P.S. HOWEVER !! There is a glitch that the refresh rate still likes to revert to 60 hz from the 100 I chose as it seemed to like that whilst playing. However on re boot it reverts to 60 hz . I have also reduced the timing on the DDR from 5400 to 5200 becasue there was a tendency on reboot, about 1 in 3 of going into an F!-F10 bios page. I now realise and important fact from this excercise that I had not been told before. Sim App pro positions the DDI screens not windows 11 . As long as they are next to each other in the graphic sideways on or underneath SAP does the final position and this is what led me to think that Windows was not holding the postion.
  3. Hey its a revelation to talk to someone who has the same set up as me. I cannot believe we are the only two in the world but maybe the only two that are happy to share stuff. I AM new to DCS and have flown the F18 for about 9 months now. I have a guy who runs a great Server called "The Damned" and Bob ( The owner) has given me lessons whenever I have asked him and he is really good at it. He is on EST and I am in the UK, so we work it out, but he is a VR addict and has no knowledge of the factual instrument world although he appreciates its immersive abilities. I am going to study your post re the connections for a start and see if I can negate the screen program that would be very good and hand back to Windows. The thought of overlaying Virtual desk top and magic mouse or whatever on all of this was to me a novice very foreboding. In you screen res on n DCS My main screen is 3440 x 1440 and capable of 240 refresh but as said before cannot get that to work. Maybe some of your tips will fix that. Can you show me a screen shot of where how I edit my screen stats as I am not quite sure about this. Thank you for the input its much apprecaited. I am using 2D and never VR so I presume this matters? Sorry if I seem nieve about this but it has taken so long to get where I am with a workable but imperfect set up I am frightened of getting it wrong. Once I have done it I learn a little more about PC stuff as I have worked on a Mac for since the tiny box like creature inhabited my desk ! Do you ONLY have the three DDI into that 10 port Hub or do you have other things . Is it just a case of a hub dedicated to the DDIs or in line 123 after the other plus any other ports as you wish This site looked interesting to finish off the DDi and UFC set
  4. Hi, Thank you for the info and I tried to get this to be the best thing since the earth was created but I could not. Firstly, I very keen to know if you had the same issues with Windows 11 holding the DDI screen position from each reboot. Mine never did despite a reinstall of Windows 11. This has been the reason for using a stabilizing program Display Fusion ,to stitch the position despite a wayward Windows operating system. Then of course, as you are aware Simm app Pro has its say on positioning. Then the Re shade program to enhance the poor output quality of the DDI screens. It all works but is delicate, and if you try and alter anything, say resolution or refresh, then dont expect anything else other than a reboot from scratch to rectify it. My experience limited though it was did not give the sharp instrument displays the clarity one gets in normal 2D. So in the end back onto eBay it all went. Currently, my problem is despite trying to get a refresh rate of 100 on my Coursair Xnen screen ( capable of 240 hz) I cannot get it to settle other than 6-hz. I have tried doing this via Windows Dipslay , Nvidia Panel, but it reverts to 60 every time. I have all my settings at MAX / EXTREME etc, and the picture quality is stunning with no jags or delays except when pulling 9 G in a banked turn the DDI lines chatter a bit, but as soon as I level its normal. I am not the least bit worried about this as I am not looking at the instruments but out of the window trying to locate my enemy ! Thats my experience but am willing to listen and evaluate from people like you who have the same set up as me as a basis because the DDI and UFC set up has to be used to be seen to never think of clicking a mouse on a screen ever again unless you have to. I can set up my screens in 2 minutes as my fingers fly acroos the buttons in a very practised manner now.
  5. Decision made to rerun to 2D and screens for instruments and my current set up. As you can see from the spec its a pretty powerful beast so I decided for once to give it a try with everything set to MAXIMUM. I have so far followed others recommendations and thinking that MAX was not possible. Well I found out that it is. It runs my 42" Corsair Exnon 2x 27 Dell one either side for Discord and icons etc plus the whole Wing Wing set up of DDI's and UFC and PTO 2 , Throttle with extras plus a Throttle block from W/Wing. No problem and I have never seen it quite like this before. The only lag I get is in the on screen DDI when I am wing tip vertical and pulling max G to avoid missile. The picture within the on screen DDi is just a little juddery but the cockpit is is all stable. I dont care about this anyway as I am looking at the W Wing instruments in front of me. So that is what made my decision, together with the too complex set up related to actual instruments and stiil unstable Windows display software unable to keep a track ot the monitors in the first place. So its back to ebay and thank you all for your input and advice its appreciated
  6. I would ask for a little advice on the following please: I am not sure that the VR is the thing for me at the moment as I may be expecting more than it can deliver for ny expectations re all of the above debate. I have however, noticed that returning to the excellent oled 42" Corsair screen that I once thought was impeccable seems to have a slight ghost image of micro proportions (alhtough I have noticed it) around the lettering on the screen in menus etc. Now I did not save my setting which of course is stupid and am not sure in re setting these for the 2D screen I have overlooked a setting that might cause this ? Or of course it may be the astonishingly crisp nature of VR has spoiled me during the last days in my opinion of the 2D display of lettering. I have been through the settings a number of times but cannot find the culprit. Any suggestions welcome as restarting my game every time involves screen position settings and is not as straight forward as I would like it to be. Thats another story as conveyed on this forum
  7. "This would be on Metas part to make it happen, not ED." I was wrong in saying pass thru I actually meant export the monitor data for the gauges and screens from DCS to enable us to use the pass thru system to full use without the cheats and trick of other programs. Sorry for that
  8. Well at the moment I am not sure what direction to go in . I have the headset Q3 and it took one and half days to get it paired since the software seemed to get stuck on a business connection frame. I then discovered via Meta chat that this is overcome by a factory re set which is described in some site intsructions as a last resort having consequences. The consequence was that it paired, and I am cable attached. I did also buy the BoBo headframe with a battery and can if necessary go wi fi but cable is good for me as all of my computers are cabled wired and this to me eliminates any possible wifi glitches. However with my physical instruments as shown in the photo I cannot make out which is the best way forward. I really want to retain the ability to use these as I do now or I might even just go back to the 2D set up i currently have 2D working after endless hassle getting Windows to keep screen positions ( Now solved with a bolt on program ) So what am I asking here: What programs and stages do I need to complete my wish if in fact its at all possible ? All help welcome and appreciated. Maybe DCS might think of a proper pass through syatem which would I am sure make VR on DCS much more attractive to many more hopefuls. Here's hoping !
  9. Hi Max. We have spoken in the past and it was about connection speed which funnily enough 9 months after requesting 1 G it will be fitted on the 10th Oct so it shows what an advanced country the UK is now ! The Wharthog video is well explained in some respects but I am still confused with Helios. So is it possible for some basic advice of the steps required to install a Quest 3 for DCS only and no living room table tennis required. I have tried for instance to connect my headset with Quick link and its stuck on a connection window for an office use unit !! Is this the best program to use for me or is it hard wire which I can do. So: 1) Connect headset hard wire. 2 ) Create a Meta account ( you dont need "Horiion ...??? Or should I be using virtual desk etc etc etc .Ie Baby steps as the whole process is not designed just for us its designed to sell Meta software which may not be needed for my particular purpose.. Why Oh Why do DCS not produce a plug ad play program that exports all of this stuff properly instead of it being like Mocrosoft sim 9 with endless work around they have VR settings in controls etc but dont follow through with the rest !
  10. Hi I am so nervous about this as my Windows tech experience is very basic . Does your reply mean you have the same Wing Wing set up as me ? I saw the use of Helios in the Whart hog video so does that mean I will be watching Helios generated DDI screens or pass through DDI;s with Re shade enhancement . Getting that lot to coordinate fills me with horror especially if I have to use Dispaly Fusion to adjust the screens! I wont be using my big bendy Coursair which is set to 3840 x 2160 but i will be using the WingWig screens with the size you specified . Does windows put task bars on the DDI'S ? Since they now not related to a large viewing screen for position does the display setting in Windows become easier. I am sorry if this all sounds negative but I have had serious problems with window positioning in my current set up and it does not seems to have been reported much on the forum so I can only conclude I and an isolated case or not too many are using the full Wig Wing set up . Sorry so many questions . Is there a step by step video or article which is baby steps to setting this up as above ? Thank you Hi, I have already posted this on another thread but for clarity this is my set up and shows what I refer to
  11. Hi Ditch and good job I asked because I want pass through to try and use my Wing Wing screens and UFC to the full as they are so good in real life once you have figured out how to use them. This was not in my experience as easy as it should have been because Windows 11 for me refused to keep the monitor position ( in the Display section) for Sim app pro to refer to it and the DDIs had desktops and were angled and the desktop extended over their screens as well. So I have solved this using a program called "Display Fusion" which controls monitor position and task bars among other things, plus of course I use the process of a mask and filter to enhance the brilliance of the actual info on the DDI screens. It has taken a long time and aggravation to get this all to work reliably so my footsteps forward to VR are small ones. You can see if I am to use these DDI's with bright screens I also have to get the above to integrate with your suggestions. Do you have advice or experience in my specific type of set up . I think you do as your knowledge seems excellent but I am seeking reassurance that I am not going down another dark tunnel of IT stuff that I am not trained in. Thank you for your advice its appreciated
  12. Hi, another naive question as I am looking at the Q3 range now having soaked up many of the above comments. For dedicated DCS sim and not living room tennis, is it necessary to have 128 gb or 512 gb unit and do I need the hand controllers or a battery pack if I am seated in one spot with DCS sim ? Thank you
  13. Hi yes this is a fantastic thread. I am contemplating going vr and have wing wing ddi and hud plus To panel etc etc Now I can maybe think I have a chance of getting this lot to work in VR / reality. Thank you
  14. Hi Thank you both for your time and input. there is a lot to consider here for me as you can see that waving goodbye to the hardware of 8 months ago is for me a big deal but if its worthwhile long-term then maybe thats where I am heading
  15. That would leave the choice of VR units to either V3 or Varjo aero which I am not sure works with your set up re finger tracking HTCC and something called Lighthouse ? is this all compatible do you know ? Sorry for probably naive questions but I am new to VR
