  1. Let's all share our favorite F4U-1D screenshots here!
  2. Make sure to let go of the starter switch right after selecting auto-rich mixture. I was having the same issue, but this solved it for me!
  3. I just wanted to thank the developers of the Corsair for creating such a beautiful module for DCS. The Corsair has been my absolute favorite aircraft for many years - I'm sure that I'm not the only one this applies to After years of flying the F4U in WT sim battles I found myself longing for a more accurate representation of this legendary aircraft and since some of the teasers published around 2019 I found myself excitedly waiting for the DCS Corsair! And now in 2025 it's finally here! I've taken the Hog out for a couple of test flights now and I just wanted to say WOW! What a gorgeous looking aircraft with amazing texture work and plenty of beautiful liveries (including some to roleplay -1 and -1A Corsair models!!). The flight model feels so detailed and rich as well, I'm not a real pilot but it certainly seems to check out compared to the stories from the pilots that actually flew these birds. It flies beautifully in DCS - my first flights really felt exhilerating and quite honestly made me sweat a little! This Hog is certainly gonna make me practice my stick 'n rudder skills a lot more! Can't wait to make some proper missions for the Ensign Eliminator It was worth the wait and certainly worth every penny - again, thanks so much for beautifully representing this legendary fighter in DCS. Of course, some screenshots below!
  4. The four-bladed propeller was found on the F4U-4, which was introduced in late WWII. There were quite a number of differences between the -1D and the -4, including a fully redesigned cockpit, so developing that for DCS would probably take quite a while. I do really love the four-bladed prop Corsairs!
  5. I can't sit still at this point, I'm so excited!!
  6. She's a beauty, wow!
  7. I'm also really excited, this really will be the first time a proper Corsair will be modelled for a modern combat flight sim! Day one purchase for me, I've been waiting for the Hog in DCS since its original teaser in 2019!
  8. The curved final approach for carrier landings was around for a long time already, other warbirds needed curved approaches too because pretty much all of them have poor visibility over the nose, not just the Corsair. The British didn't invent this specifically for the Corsair, this was already a thing much before the Corsair had its first flight.
  9. The US Navy did actually operate the Corsair off their carriers pretty soon after the start of its deployment in the Pacific. The Hellcat was indeed preferred by the Navy in the beginning because the Corsair did have a number of issues with its carrier landing performance. Once those issues were ironed out, the Navy was already using the Hellcat and they didn't want to use the Corsair on the carriers because of logistical issues - it made sense to stick with one kind of fighter only. US Navy squadron VF-17 was a land-based naval squadron, but on occasions they landed and refuelled/rearmed on Navy carriers during the Battle of the Solomons. VF-17 and VF-12 I believe were two fully carrier-qualified Corsair squadrons in early/mid 1943. I believe the USS Enterprise also had a squadron of F4U-2 nightfighters. I think only after the Navy really realized how much (more) potential the Corsair had compared to the Hellcat, they started stationing more Corsair squadrons on carriers, but the Corsair has always been a fully carrier-qualified aircraft for the US Navy, and contrary to popular belief it was not the British that proved so. The British also had Hellcats operating in their Fleet Air Arm after all.
  10. The Corsair indeed had a lot of torque from its giant propeller, but go-arounds were never, never discouraged. Pilots simply had to be gentle with the power and correct with rudder and all would be fine. Much better than plowing your Hog into a bunch of other aircraft parked on the deck (WWII and Korea carriers didn't have angled flight decks yet after all!)
  11. I know it caused some controversy, but in my opinion the graphical difference is huge. The Tiger II simply looks amazing in game now, arguably one of the best looking aircraft. Well worth the 15 USD upgrade I think! Also, if you don't think it's worth it, you don't have to purchase it
  12. The release of the Cold War Germany map has certainly sparked my interest in the Phantom again - took her out for a quick spin splashing some Fishbeds!
  13. SSD drives are pretty cheap these days you know I see little harm in a livery being added to honor someone pretty iconic to the F-14 community
  14. One thing I love about the F-5E is the Navy Adversary skins, they look so cool!
  15. Many thanks for the bug fixes, can't wait to take the Tomcat out of my hangar again, time for a fun flight!
  16. Haha I was thinking the exact same thing. It would feel super cool yeah, I'd love to see this as a immersive feature!
  17. Some training missions out of Hatay!
  18. This skin is looking insanely good, can't wait to use it!!
  19. Some pattern work around Incirlik!
