    Operation Armageddon

After 'allegedly' recovering an object that fell to earth near Krymsk and refusing to co-operate with the International Community NATO HAS INVADED RUSSIA after several weeks of hostile negotiations regarding the object!

And so it has finally happened, after decades of war games and propaganda one superpower has finally got an excuse to step onto the others home land!

The Allied assault 2 days ago on Anapa has established a spearhead for Allied forces to operate out of the Mother Land. Allied B1 and F-117 Stealth Bombers completely destroyed the Russian air defenses at Krymsk, Novo and Gele within a matter of hours on the opening night of the campaign after word got out that the Russian's had moved to Alien object to a facility near Moscow.

The Russians and her Israeli allies have now established a forward line to take on the Allies from Krasnodar and are deploying all their strength to that region, Maykop has been shut down in fear of Allied bombing and all Russian units have been moved to Krasnodar to try and force the Allies into the sea.

Due to the high losses suffered on both sides over the past 2 days, the High Commands of both Coalitions agree they can only afford to commit another 5 Aerial Tankers and 4 Armour Groups each in the region before a Strategic Withdrawal must take place!

Both sides have S300 SAM sites inbound to reinforce their positions respectively, however this cannot be achieved until either side destroys the third enemy target group on the ground, to enable these reinforcements to move forward!

    Rules:

NO TAXI-WAY TAKEOFF! You must use the runway.

Use the LEFT side of the runway for takeoff and landing.

Do NOT leave the server while engaged/damaged.

Please do NOT re-arm on the runway.

    Auto Kick for TK.

    Mission Brief (Simulation)

Operation Armageddon was inspired by the style of some of the missions made by the =4c= Squadron. The 104th would first of all like to thank the =4c= Squadron for the inspiration for this map.

Armageddon is a close range air domination map with both sides being separated by just 78nm. This means bullseye for fighters is only 38 miles away or 3-4 minutes away as you takeoff.

This mission has specifically designed to offer a high intensity environment with both sides having no initial advantage in SAM cover. There are no long range SAMS at either sides home bases of Anapa or Krasnodar. Instead both sides have an 'Anti Air Fence' surrounding their home-plate with medium range BUK assets 10 miles to the rear.

This means both sides have an initial uncovered tactical area of some 67 miles with no SAM cover, which serves as the main area for air combat to take place.

Both teams CAN EARN a team bonus of an S300 Battery to compliment the existing BUK Battery at their home base. This is achieved after destroying all targets at the respective teams Target Area Charlie

Both teams can win the Battle if they DESTROY ALL FOUR ENEMY TARGET AREA'S.

There are also Air Tankers available in the mission, both sides are LIMITED TO FIVE EACH!

Both teams can win the Battle if they DESTROY ALL FIVE ENEMY AIR TANKERS.

This means there are two ways a team can choose to try and win.. taking the fight to the enemy Target Area's or enemy Air Tankers, which ever is completed first will win you the mission!

The Ground War in Armageddon has a difficulty level of VERY HARD and will take some time, planning and most importantly co-ordination with other pilots to complete. All target area's are HEAVILY defended with Infra Red SAM systems including MANPADS with NO RADAR SAM support which makes entry into these Target Area's extremely dangerous and not for faint of heart!

The Air Tankers are operating in the area covered by both teams BUK Batteries and will again take some co-ordination to destroy and more important DEFEND!

    Mission Brief BLUE SIDE

    FIGHTERS:

All Fighters have one Waypoint (WP) which is BULLSEYE WP2

Aerial Tankers are operating behind Anapa at 13,000ft

Note: New Mission Map is work in progress!

  2. Gentlemen,

As you may or may not be aware the 104th has introduced 2 new missions... one of which has a RESTRICTED PAYLOAD version (Carbon Coastline).

What we are very interested in finding out from the community just how popular these missions are with you and if you would like to see more or less of them.

The Restricted Payload missions were originally pioneered by our friends at the 51st - www.51st.org before I even started playing FC2. They have been popular with the 51st and in the past with the 104th when we have run them. We even did a RESTRICTED OPFOR a while ago which was great fun!

However like I mentioned we would like to get as much feedback from the community as possible with regards to how YOU ENJOY flying these missions.

    Really appreaciate your time gents,

    Thanks

    Maverick

    S!

  3. No F-14s, F-18s ? No VNAO support in 104s missions ?

Not yet my friend... however watch this space!

I will be speaking to the 104th Command today about allocating some of our dedicated server time to the VNAO mod... only if there is a demand for it once its up and running. This will enable most users who experience lag in the Stallturn server to have a much better connection.

Although to be fair very recently as far as I am aware the Stallturn server connection was upgraded. It is still in NZ but it's now on a faster line so there should be much less issues with lag on Stallturn now for people not in the Southern Hemisphere

    Hope your well mate

    Mav

    S!

  4. What is basic trigger set up for both side?

Both sides have triggers that are independent of time and solely 'switched' by players clearing units in the target area.

So Blue can be on TA Charlie while Red is still on TA Alpha (example).

This means once Blue clear out all the Target Area units to complete the mission they need to suppress the SAMS at Sukhumi, and same other way around for reds.

So if your flying in a team that is not really focusing on defending their ground assets, after a couple of hours your going to have an offensive opposition who's new sole objective is to come for you at your home base!

    Hope that helps

    S!

  5. will it be statistics covered like OPFOR?

    Yes sir!

Both our new missions are currently being rotated on our Dedicated server which has been up and running now for a few days fully covered by stats at www.104thphoenix.com

Thanks for your kind words and to everyone who has joined the server recently to try Red Mercury and Carbon Coastline, we still plan to release 2 new missions in the coming weeks so watch this space!

    Take care,

The 104th Proudly Present the second in our new series of MP missions

    Operation Carbon Coastline

2 years after facing defeat at the hands of the Coalition assault codenamed Operation Moonshield, the Russian Government has decided to assert its dominance in the region and has invaded Georgia using Sochi as a spear head.

The Russians now control Sukhumi Airbase and are operating all their forward strength from this position.

The Georgian Forces suffered heavy losses in the initial contact with the Russian's and have pulled back to the last remaining Georgian stronghold, the area of Kobuleti and Batumi.

Yesterday at 01:47z American F-15C's and A-10's arrived into Batumi and Kobuleti from Aviano Airbase in Northern Italy shortly followed by Ukrainian SU-27s and Mig-29S assets.

Now stronger than ever Georgia and her Coalition partners are determined to push back the Russian offensive and drive them back to Sochi!

    Mission Brief (Simulation):

-Operation Carbon Coastline is a small scale air dominance map, with both sides being separated by just 80 miles. This means bullseye is approximately 40nm or 4 minutes flying time for both sides.

-Aerial refueling is available on both sides less than 10nm behind the primary Airbases of Sukhumi and Batumi.

-Both sides have 5 Target Area's each to destroy all roughly the same distance and flight times for each team. TA's on both sides are complete with identical units, both blue and red ground vehicles are current and ex Russian stock. This means no side has an advantage in the level of armour deployed on the field.

-Both sides have identical SAM platforms to defend primary Airbases and strategic locations around the map.

-Operation Carbon Coastline is designed to be a fast paced air to air mission with opponents less than 5 minutes flying time after takeoff.

    Mission Brief BLUE SIDE (Situational):

    Fighters:

All Fighters on both sides have the same BULLSEYE WP2.

    ***WARNING***

    ***WARNING***

THE RUSSIANS HAVE ESTABLISHED AN IR SAM FENCE 15NM AROUND SUKHUMI!!!

    TASKS:

-Tankers are operating above Batumi make sure you protect them.

-Provide cover for friendly strikers heading NORTH from Kobuleti to engage the Russian Armour Groups.

-Gain supremacy of the airspace surrounding WP2.

    Strikers:

There are FOUR Target Area's (TA) ALPHA to DELTA.

All TA's are marked with Waypoints (WP)

Once all Target Area's have been cleared push to attack the Russian SAMS at Sukhumi.

    ***WARNING***

ALL TARGET AREA'S ARE HEAVILY PROTECTED BY SHILKA, STRELA AND MANPAD ASSETS!

    Mission Brief RED SIDE (Situational):

    Fighters:

All Fighters on both sides have the same BULLSEYE WP2.

Massive thanks to 104th_Moa for the outstanding new maps!!

  7. The trim light your talking about is off because the trim is not centered.

LCtrl + T centers your trim.

As Ogrex mentioned 'A' does not turn your autopilot off. Essentially what your doing at the moment is having the autopilot on then switching it into a different mode thinking your turning it off!

I suggest a few things to you my new friend!

    First!

Goto your single player Options and goto your controls for your SU-25 then select the AUTOPILOT controls.

You ll notice that they are all set as Alt+1 etc ...

Change them all so they are all the same numbers but you don't need to press Alt first. So rather than pressing Alt_1 you just press 1 on the numpad keys, this is the way I have it set up. I have 1-6 mapped on my Numpad for easy access and I also set Numpad 0 (the number 0) as my autopilot disengage button.

Generally speaking you should not be using 'A' in game.... No there is nothing wrong with it however it is best not to use it and fly the aircraft yourself or by using your autopilot modes (1-6 not A)

The 2 modes I use the most are Mode 1 (attitude hold) and Mode 3 (Altitude and wings level hold) I never use 'A' at all. You should try just using these two modes and see how you get on.

I'm not sure whats happening with your problems trying to exit the game... I tend to say this to everyone who has problems with FC2..... uninstall it and reinstall it....

No its not perfect advice... but everytime something goes wrong at my end.. I do the above and it works out alright!

    Good luck

The 104th Phoenix proudly presents the first in a coming series of NEW MISSIONS being created for the dedicated server!

    Operation Red Mercury

    Mission Scenario:

Following the fall of the Rebellion led by General Lermontov the Georgian Government supported by a coalition of western powers is leading an offensive into Russia.

For failing to prosecute the members of Lermontov's organisation operating in Russia involved in trafficking Red Mercury for the purpose of making chemical weapons, U.S and Georgian forces have pushed North out of Georgia and currently occupy Nalchick and Mineral Nye Vody Airports.

This in turn led to a large scale aerial conflict lasting 3 days in which both sides suffered heavy losses.

Today, 2 weeks after the conflict began both sides have committed to a long and hard fight involving heavily armored convoys strategically placed in the Caucus Mountains in the hope of securing the range to mount a counter offensive.

    Mission Brief (Simulation):

-Operation Red Mercury is a Medium scale air dominance mission, with both sides being separated by just 140 miles. This means bullseye is roughly 65nm or 6 mins flying time for both teams.

-Aerial refueling is available on both sides less than 10nm behind the primary Airbases of Maykop and Mineral V.

-Operation Red Mercury is designed to be a completely neutral 50 / 50 fight with no side having any advantage in terms of hardware or location.

    Mission Brief RED SIDE (Situational):

-Provide cover for friendly strikers heading WEST from MinV to engage the Russian Armour Columns.

-Gain supremacy of the airspace surrounding WP2.

    Strikers:

There are FIVE Target Area's (TA) ALPHA to ECHO.

  9. Also one thing you 'might' have missed.

Make sure that your Tacview (if you have it) is NOT set to record. If you have installed Tacview on your PC it automatically sets itself up to record your flights and most servers will not let you in if you have it on.

To turn it off (not trying to teach how to suck eggs here just trying to help) launch Tacview and click on the symbol of the globe in the top left and un-select record Lockon

    Mav

  10. we have a real f4 pilot who will transition to the eurofighter, or maybe allready did, in our squad, and guess what, in bfm, i was able to kick his butt gunzo 8:3

OMFG DUDE WTF!!! You must have mad skills bro AND super knowledge

    I can't compete with that sh1t

Borchi I take it all back mate .... your the MAN!

Mogas, Ironmike everything this guy says is right we would be wise to follow his advice on all matters

  11. cause you cannot just turn and burn when the missile is not pitbull

You can't??? Shit, someone better give the guys in the United States Air Force a call and let them know that, might also be a good idea to give the US Navy a call to and let them know as I know 100% that both Arms fire 120s and go defensive before it goes pitbull.... granted not with every shot but it does happen.

Borchi for someone who has little to no combat experience in MP Lockon you have a lot to say ...

In between your trolling posts have a look at this video mate ...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgS7z6iaS3U

and since you clearly have no idea what it means once you have watched the video check out this page and look up 'cheapshot' -

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brevity_code

Spamming missiles doesn't make you good

No one said it did and I agree with you all the way, and as you correctly pointed out 3Sqn do fly with 8x120 I've seen it many times although I will concede you guys do carry 7s more than we do... sadly however this too doesn't make you 'good' either

I see some very clever flying from 3Sqn, have done so many times I really rate you guys but as I'm sure you appreciate Cali there is no set rules for an engagement what works in one situation might not work in an another.... sometimes trying to be smart gets you killed and if you don't take your shot your going to end up with an Eagle screaming up your 6 inside 10 miles.

Contrary to what this post is turning out to be (a bit of an attack at F-15 drivers) not all of us 'spam' and run, yes many do however without blowing my horn to hard I've been lucky enough in the past to be the victor against many lone wolves and squad members using 'their' tactics because 'my' tactic which involved not spamming worked!

Yes there are certain F-15 drivers that will spam on you at 20 miles then run away (a certain 'Germanese' guy for example) I don't rate this tactic at all... waste of time as you spend all your days RTB'ing..... but not all of us fly like this.

You can't get kills on the 'good' guys in Lockon by Spamming missiles.

It is incredibly easy for anyone who knows what they are doing to NOT get killed by someone spamming in an F-15... to put it bluntly if you get killed by someone firing 3-4 120s on you from 20 miles.... you don't know what your doing and its your own fault your dead.

The main thing the 120 gives the F-15 is options... the option to fire at range and factor this into your fight is one of them, sometimes I'll happily waste a 120 with a 25 mile shot with a low PK just so it goes active on him and he reacts then I push in on him for the kill while he is dealing with defeating that 120 which is easy when its fired from 25 miles but it means he is not just flying hot at me.... Your a fool if you dont at least 'consider' that option, you don't always have to take it but its there and it works.

On that note before anyone jumps down my throat... in over a year of playing Lockon I have yet to meet someone who does not fire on me inside of 20 miles but manages to evade my missiles... get behind me and kill me.... try that shit with anyone who knows what they are doing and your going to die.... if my missile goes active on you and you have not fired on me I'm not going to be flying away from you I'll be closing the range as fast as I can to kill you.

I'm in favor of restricting weapons for future events I think it would make things more challenging however this OPFOR had NO posted weapon restrictions so if people wanted to spam actives that was their choice.

I appreciate you have stated a few times Borchi that your not attacking anyone however it seems to me that you are grossly unqualified to say some of the things you have.. believe it or not MP and SP are very.... VERY different ...

Fair enough if you were a well known Lockon 'ace' in the multiplayer servers I and others might have a bit more time to consider what your saying however your not.... you flew in an event that was 8vs8 years ago with your friends... thats about it smile.gif frankly... you have no idea what your talking about

  12. Just to note though Fox, we (the 104th) are sorry that you had a bad experience during OPFOR mate... your right 100% the pause was bad news however it was a genuine accident... I hope we see you and your team again and this has not put you off!

    Until next time my friend

    S!

  13. The server pause was an accident it was not intentional.. Everyone in the servers game paused at the exact same time and was un-paused at the exact same time so no one had an advantage due to it so you cant really use that as an excuse for being killed.

I was killed by enemy fighter, I only noticed that I am dead without warning.

You did get a warning, thats why it shows you going defensive to try and defeat the missiles on the track of the event when RIPTIDE's 120s go active on you.

  14. the IAF ........maybe the best airforce in the world. they are even better then the americans, cause they combine good flying with good tech, not only good tech with average pilots.

Probably the most stupid thing I have ever read on the internet!

Sorry I don't have anything to add to the wish list... just had to jump in on what this guy said..... I don't even know where to begin to point out just how uninformed and quite frankly... retarded that statement is I just couldn't not respond to it.

Someone get this guy a book on the history of air combat

    Mav

p.s No I'm not American.... so this has nothing to do with bias :)

  15. Here are the main brevity codes we are using this weekend, please try to familiarize yourself with these codes.

    Anchor/anchored

    1. Orbit about a specific point; refueling track flown by tanker.

    2. Informative call to indicate a turning engagement about a specific location.

As of NOW the 104th server is hosting a GCI weekend! However this is NOT an official event more of a warm up for when we are going to have an 'official' weekend so there is no time tables for Fighter Controllers we are simply going to try and have the GCI stations manned as much as possible tonight Saturday and Sunday!

We are also going to try and have a JTAC station manned for the air to ground boys!

Please come in and join our server to take part in the fun, for the best experience join our TeamSpeak where our Fighter Controllers will be talking you onto the 'bad guys'

This type of flying is more realistic and great fun so if you have never tried it before please don't hesitate to come in and have a go!

This is an open event to all squadrons and public members so no sign up required etc

    Some things to know!

If you are not sure of your brevity codes please check on this page where they are all listed

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brevity_code

Don't worry we wont be using them all but it is handy to have this page to reference..

    Blue GCI Callsign = MAGIC

    RED GCI Callsign = GOLIATH

When calling the GCI controller you should use his callsign and tell him want you want... all details will be given as BRAA (Bearing Range Altitude Aspect) so if you want the details for your nearest bandit you would call on freq 'MAGIC, Phoenix 11 BRAA nearest bandit'

When using the Brevity Code 'PICTURE' please remember that this means your asking for an update on ALL enemy aircraft that the controller can see so try not to use this all the time.. its handy to call for the 'PICTURE' after departure and take your flight from there.
