  1. Hi, I recently ran into the problem of not having proper DTC for the Apache. After looking around, I managed to solve it with Claude AI and thought I would share the solution with you here. What you need: Install the tool "DTC for DCS" which supports the Apache: https://github.com/the-paid-actor/dcs-dtc This tool lets you load JSON formatted data and send it into the Apache TSD while in-game. The solution: The trick is generating the JSON file, and that's where Claude AI (Sonnet 4.5) comes in. In my case, I had a list of 4 control measures (see attached image). I simply pasted the image into Claude, and it generated the proper JSON format for me. Note on MGRS coordinates: In my case, the grid zone designator for the MGRS coordinates was not shown on the kneeboard, so I had to provide it to Claude for proper conversion to lat/long coordinates. The grid zone designator is a 2-3 character code (number + letter) that you can find in the TSD by looking at other coordinates already loaded, such as the default waypoints. Try it yourself: You can find my conversation with Claude here: https://claude.ai/share/7f7f5457-ba3b-44d4-8e7d-198ec4b851e7 You can continue that chat with your own data, and it should generate the JSON file for you since it now "knows" the format. Important note: My example only generates Control Measure points since that's what I needed. If you want other data types, you'll need to provide Claude with an example of a proper JSON record for that data type (generate one manually with the tool first, then show it to Claude). Enjoy!

    Such fun...

This is my 2nd attempt with the AH-64D - the first attempt was in my first month into DCS and consisted mainly of immediate crashing and frustration. I am playing in PCVR using just the Meta Quest controllers (also for rudder control), grabbing the cyclic and the collective in virtual space, so it is extra challenging. This time, a few months later with some experience with the F/A-18, the Mustang, and the Spitfire, I managed to get the hang of flying the Apache, and it is becoming incredibly fun trying to push the boundary of flying it agilely, close to the ground. It feels like learning to control an exoskeleton. Great work, ED!
  3. I am not asking for a long exposure photography of the milkyway above my head as some have suggested here. that would be silly. I, and it seems many others too, are asking for a more realistic night sky, instead of randomly distributed silly white dots. you don't need to be 90k up in the air to know what I am talking about. it is enough that you get out of the city and look up. Anywhere the light pollution is low you would see a marvelous night sky above your head from ground level, certainly if you are flying 10k-20k up over a middle east desert or over the mediterranean sea or the ocean - all of which are quite common in DCS. the only reason I can think of for a DCS player to dismiss this request is if they have no idea what I am talking about. And BTW, I am super relaxed.
  4. why no plans ? i'm sorry, I really appreaciate DCS - it is a fantastic software and you did a great job - so don't get me wrong but this particular answer sounds either stupid or ignorant - why bother with weather ? with clouds ? with waves ? with terrain ? with rain ? "folks currently we have no plans to do clouds or rain in our flight simulator..." it is the frigging night sky - if you fly at night it is up there - up - there. by which I mean, you look up and it is ... up there ! and currently it looks stupid. at least to anyone who bothered looking at the night sky in real life outside the city. is that your problem ? that you simply don't know how the night sky actually looks ?
  5. when are these expected ?
  6. In the spitfire module instant action mission squadron scrambled 1940 in normandy map, attacking 30+ bombers over london, the fps crawls down to unplayable mess once merging with the german bombers. This seems a CPU bottleneck problem, not a GPU problem. GPU 5080 (latest drivers) The CPU is 7800X3d. 32GB memory 6000MT/s DCS World MT (latest) Windows 11 Is this a known problem ? Is there a solution ?
  7. Was this fixed since ?
  8. Well, since my post I’ve resigned myself to playing without DLSS or any anti-aliasing (except I sometimes switch on MSAA x2). I use VR density 1.4 and set the Oculus Debug Tool (ODT) to encode at full headset resolution.
  9. There are currently 4 problems in VR: 1. terrible almost unplayable shimmering with DLSS off. 2. terrible almost unplayable aircraft ghosting and hard to spot aircrafts with DLSS on - even with latest DLSS 310.4.0 and preset K - especially when fighting over a forest, enemy aircrafts may literally turn into an unplayable messy warped streak of colors. 3. double aircraft image rendered in close range dog fights - even with DLSS and MSAA both off. 4. completely unplayable FSR or NIS (DLSS alternatives), since enemy aircrafts often literally become invisible in the sky. These problems SHOULD BE FIXED - trying to play DCS without stuttering, ghosting, or shimmering, should not be an idiotic form of black art. This report is for the developers. Do not respond if you only want to explain that this is the way it is and we should all just learn to live with it. Do not respond if you only want to list your black art list of work arounds that took you ages to compile and which does not really help or work. Cheers, and thanks for an otherwise wonderful masterpiece (aside from the other annoying bugs that weigh it down, of course).
  10. I don't understand why people here list all their broken work arounds - this problem needs to be fixed - period! - all you do by listing this endless list of broken work arounds is to suppress the report and the problem. 11. DCS World developers should read it.
  12. Wow, beautiful. I found the original text here: https://www.vfp62.com/SR-71.html And the relevant paragraph by Brian Schul: "One moonless night, while flying a routine training mission over the Pacific, I wondered what the sky would look like from 84,000 feet if the cockpit lighting were dark. While heading home on a straight course, I slowly turned down all of the lighting, reducing the glare and revealing the night sky. Within seconds, I turned the lights back up, fearful that the jet would know and somehow punish me. But my desire to see the sky overruled my caution, I dimmed the lighting again. To my amazement, I saw a bright light outside my window. As my eyes adjusted to the view, I realized that the brilliance was the broad expanse of the Milky Way, now a gleaming stripe across the sky. Where dark spaces in the sky had usually existed, there were now dense clusters of sparkling stars Shooting stars flashed across the canvas every few seconds. It was like a fireworks display with no sound. I knew I had to get my eyes back on the instruments, and reluctantly I brought my attention back inside. To my surprise, with the cockpit lighting still off, I could see every gauge, lit by starlight. In the plane's mirrors, I could see the eerie shine of my gold spacesuit incandescently illuminated in a celestial glow. I stole one last glance out the window. Despite our speed, we seemed still before the heavens, humbled in the radiance of a much greater power. For those few moments, I felt a part of something far more significant than anything we were doing in the plane. The sharp sound of Walt's voice on the radio brought me back to the tasks at hand as I prepared for our descent." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Shul
  13. Hi Baltic Dragon, I’m new to DCS and playing it in VR, and despite the old engine and the endless little bugs that keep creeping up, it still manages to create atmospheric visuals and dynamics that are jaw-dropping in VR — even after two weeks in. Yet your wonderful Raven One: Dominant Fury campaign takes it to a whole new level of storytelling and action. Today I played Mission 8 of the campaign, where Pistol 36, RED, takes a hit over the Chouf Mountains in Lebanon and I lead him, as Flip, to Haifa Airport. On the way there, I contacted the tower and was BLOWN AWAY to hear them speak English with a perfect Hebrew accent — such a beautiful detail. I actually live nearby and know the area well, and even once took off and landed at that airport with a friend who flies a Cessna. It was a special experience to visit northern Israel at dawn in the conclusion of that mission, and the Israeli accent over the radio took it to a whole new level of immersion. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Nir
  14. Right, to illustrate a point. However according to Claude night sky at 35,000 agl looks brighter than from any remote pristine location on earth. Also I suppose if ED addresses this issue they should make is so the visibility of the milky way and the night sky depend on altitude and light pollution in the area.
