Ahhh....sarcasm begets sarcasm. Was worried I was being too subtle. +1 -

That's what RTFM means. Read The F*cking Manual. He was telling you what it meant not telling you to do it. -
"Nerd³ Plays... Digital Combat Simulator: A-10C Warthog"

And every single person here automatically knew how to start up and fly the Warthog right out of the box too.... -
I meant those were the numbers in my particular area.

Storm? What storm??? Seriously though, my area in WV got lucky...some of the eastern parts of the state got blasted with snow. I think the final total as far as power outages was <2000 and AFAIK ZERO deaths...thank God for small miracles. Hope everyone in the hardest hit areas of the coast stays safe and everything starts to get back to something resembling normal soon.

Ladies and gentlemen I present to you: Cast Iron Bitch (so named because that's what the whole project has been). It consists of an Intel Core i7 3770K @ 3.5 GHz (no plans to overclock at this time), a EVGA GeForce GTX 560 2 GB vid card, 16 GB of Corsair Vengence DDR3 @1600 MHz, a Western Digital 1 TB HDD (will not use an SSD), and a MSI Z77-G45A motherboard all wrapped up in a Thermaltake Chaser Mk I case. The case has 4 200mm fans and a rear-mounted 140mm fan s I should not have an issue with airflow/cooling. This rig was built by me within the last week and I hope not to need upgrades soon. BTW, the pics were taken with my iPhone so I apologize for the less than perfect quality.

UPDATE: After some hassles with tiger direct, the last of the parts will FINALLY be here today and hopefully be up and running Monday or Tuesday. Will post pics once everything is finished.

Thanks for the help but I need the i7 as I do some work with video and also graphic design (a hobby I'm trying to learn more about) so the i5 really wouldn't work. I did, however show the list of parts to a friend of mine and he pointed out a couple of areas where I had overspent. Ordered the parts today for a final cost of about $1150 with $22 for shipping. Once again thanks for the help. Was greatly appreciated!

Found a 630W Corsair PSU for about $10 more thats 80 plus certified. Best I can do. Are the PSU and vid card the only 2 items you gentlemen had an issue with???
-
Yes. It's made by EVGA. @EtherealN I looked at the 660 Ti...the cheapest I could find was $300 at Tiger Direct. I just about broke my budget with the $250 I'm paying for the the 650 I chose. Would love to have one but just a bit more than I can justify.
-
a 750W power supply, Gold rated or otherwise, is simply out of my price range. I chose that particular one because it is similar to the one I have in my current desktop and I have had zero issues with it. The WD hard drive is a 6 GB/s SATA drive so I can't see myself needing much more w/o going to a SSD which I already said I wasn't interested in.

GTX 560 Superclocked is what the product page said.

I'm going to be building a new desktop in a couple weeks and I think I have the final parts list ready to go. I just wanted to get some opinions on what I've chosen and/or anything I've missed. I am NOT interested in an SSD drive for personal reasons but I might overclock at some point. Feedback is greatly appreciated. The list: MSI Z77A-G45 motherboard Core i7-3770k @ 3.50GHz 16 GB DDR3 @ 1600MHz GTX 560 2 GB GDDR5 video card Western Digital 1 TB HDD Thermaltake 600W Power Supply Thermaltake Overseer full tower ATX case Total price including misc other parts (fans etc) and shipping is $1225 USD. As stated earlier, feedback is greatly appreciated.

I always liked the camera view in Diablo....I think you can see more. First person in this game would be abysmal. Quite possibly the only thing worse would be a 3d camera....IMHO of course
-
so have I...I downloaded it as soon as I set up my annual pass for World of Warcraft....however, I figured there might be some people out there who don't and be interested in knowing they can actually download and install the game early
-
FYI... the Diablo III installer was unlocked at 8:01 PST this morning. You can now log into your battle.net account and download the latest installer as well as the v 1.01 launch day patch.

Don't we wish???? Anyway....first computer to play flight sims on was probably my C-64 that I played Project: Stealth Fighter and Gunship (both from Microprose) on. After that, I had what I like to call the "lost years" (mainly console) then in the 90s I got my first "real" PC which was a Pentium 133 with 8 MB of RAM. Only "flight sim" I played on it was the original TIE Fighter. Then I moved up to my current machine and discovered the Nirvana that is the DCS series.

Which is Harder to Master A10 or BS
CDR Spectre replied to Slap_Chop's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Which is harder? Hmmm....I always thought they were both equally difficult. But if I had to pick one, it would be the BS. The A-10 never made me want to drink large quantities of vodka..... -
2 . To this day, I STILL do that whenever that song comes on the radio. My wife just looks at me like I'm nuts. Great job on the vid!!

I wonder how many people who remember the old Jane's sims will run out and buy this before realizing what it is
-
I still do and yes it is. Too bad I have such a hard time getting F-15 to run....

Red 9 Grounded After Deaths
CDR Spectre replied to Luigi Gorgonzola's topic in Military and Aviation
Such a shame. One can only imagine what was going through that woman's head every time she strapped into that aircraft... -
All I'll say is I thought the flight model in ArmA II was arcadish....
