This is ridiculously inefficient when you have hundreds or thousands of units. Is there no macro/script or entry from the miz file itself we can change?

When you say MP compatible for IC, for groups that aren't fussed about IC (ie squadrons with private servers) does this mod work synced across different players in a given mission, or must each player manually add the settings?
