  1. Im curious as to whether 3rd party developers are aware of all "unannounced" modules being developed by all other 3rd party devs? Basically I'm asking if its a certain fact that F-4 is not being developed or planned to be, the cryptic language leads me to believe it indeed is
  2. As for MWS, AFAIK IRL it has always been a crap shoot. It was designed to detect the IR signature emissions and smoke trails from incomming missiles to give an alert to the pilot, however this system is inherently flawed as plenty of possibilities exist to give false returns (i.e. nearby aircraft flares, unguided sam launches etc...) AFAIK this system is all but obsolete on any fast movers. Maybe useful on the hog though...
  3. With fox 1's the radar frequency will change and become tied exclusively to the specific missile when it is launched. This is to insure that when multiple aircraft in the same flight for instance launch missiles at seperate aircraft at the same time, their missiles wont accidentally home in on their wingmans target. This change in frequency from STT to launch is detectable by RWR, and hence a launch warning
  4. Show me an actual developer who says that fsx/p3d cannot develop an accurate flight model.
  5. Heres an answer to op's question... http://forums.vrsimulations.com/forums/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=16297&p=109556&hilit=Dcs#p109556
  6. I disagree. The reason is because there are no licensing, contracts, or royalties to pay for developing for FSX.
  7. Thanks bud. Thats exactly what the prob is. Maybe I do need to go back and re-learn the trimmer! I however do like having the central position trim mode selected, but I dont remember it not recognizing the joystick until I recenter it, but I guess its just been too long. BTW Ive always held trim until I get "on course" before I release it, I thought thats how most people fly, but you are suggesting this is not the proper way?
  8. Hi everyone, I hope someone can help with an issue I've been having recently. Every so often my cyclic is not being recognized in game. Displaying the "in game controls" indicator and windows joystick properties at the same time shows that there is indeed control input being recognized by my os, however completely absent in game controls. I would like to add that this does not occur in any other DCS modules, I currently own A10, FC3. Anyway, It seems to happen almost exclusively when I trim, especially when I hold the trim button down for a long period of time before release. Its been a while since I have flown BS2, so I cant comment on 1.2, but I know that prior to that I never had any problems like this. I have tried both an x-65 and a Warthog, and have gotten the same results. I doubt a track file would do any good, but I will try to make a vid if it helps. Maybe I've missed something in my absence? Thx for any tips
  9. Huh? What's this F/A-18 thing you speak of Frostie? Enlighten me as I've only heard rumors of its existence, akin to Bigfoot and the lochness monster....
  10. Why on earth would you ever consider doing an F-16 when there is soooo many other awesome aircraft that would far better benefit this sim, like a Cessna 172 for example. That would add soooo much more immersion rather than some stupid viper that might actually be able to accomplish some sort of SEAD capability on the blue side. Your logic astounded me sir....
  11. You should've added DCS: Bartender simulator to the poll so we can at least have a drink while flying civil aircraft like Denzel Washington
  12. You didn't read my super long post sry. Configure an aircraft for basic controls. Save it. You will have to save for joystick, throttle, and pedals independently. Then load that profile into another aircraft. You will still have to then configure everything else that is not applicable to said airframe
  13. IMO it's easier in DCS than for most other muli-aircraft sims. If anything, like you said, it should all just be blank, setting up controls is just part of the experience. Why take the time to learn something that should ultimately be customized and tailored to your specific needs/style/aircraft? I would venture to bet most if not all experienced pilots have modified plenty of keys down the line because of different control setups and simply personal preference. What you prefer a key to be and what John doe does are going to be different. Remember this is not a console game, it has many more buttons and functions associated with it, so any generic key bindings will not work for everyone, and certainly not for every aircraft. The present key bindings are legacy and I don't think it's very big on the list of things to do considering those facts. And you can setup a generic profile to a degree. Setup controls for a flanker for example, save it, and load that profile for a fulcrum (you have to do it for each controller since DCS is concerned only with axis and buttons, rather than what the specific controller is and what its theoretically supposed to be used for, and rightfully so considering there's so many combos and custom joysticks, therefore it doesn't distinguish between controller axis, hence everything being binded the same by default). Most of the stuff will be setup now with a few exceptions you will have to go through and correct. Obviously this would not work very well going from flanker to for instance eagle or frogfoot
  14. Or this http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viper_Aircraft_ViperJet
  15. This is far more likely to be the next Viper in DCS http://www.fantasyofflight.com/aircraft/wwii/1944-bachem-natter-viper/
  16. There won't be a DCS:f16 and whenever you make a post about it it gets buried deep within this never ending rats nest of a thread
  17. Beach, while I do agree with some of yours and everyone else's points and opinion somewhat, I speak, because as you said it yourself, I fear the latter. And the more it gets away from Digital Combat Simulator, the more of a fractured community it will be, rest assured. While I would absolutely LOVE to see a bunch of aircraft just "pop" into DCS, I've learned to be far more realistic and cautious in my hopes for these dreams. That being said, I hope everyone can understand my reluctance to be happy with the direction that some people want DCS to proceed in.
  18. It's hard to fathom why so many people would even consider DCS as a civilian flight sim when there are already several excellent established civilian sims already available and ready to fly. Doing so IMO is a disservice to DCS and the MULTIPLAYER community as a whole. To think that developing these kind of aircraft won't suck resources from ED is dreaming, as even third party airframes still require significant dedication from ED to integrate them into DCS world. Don't get me wrong I love civil aircraft also, but I really don't see the day when a whole gaggle of people are flying around in DCS blowing things up while someone else is sightseeing the Grand Canyon in a Cessna
  19. I guess it's high time ED puts the hornet on the back burner in favor of a 737 we can some day fly around Nevada. I simply can't contain my enthusiasm.
  20. Sorry but all this ignorance is why I fly BMS. Not perfect but at least not a complete joke. Bye bye I'm outta here
  21. Outlawal2, you are cool in my book for that meme, I loved it! Forget all, I stir up trouble from time to time just to get everyone's brain jogging! I mean no harm, just a refresher of what the ultimate goal for most of us is
  22. Yep, just what expected from this inexperience! A meme, how cute! Did I hit the nail on the coffin then if it's gotten to this childish response? Btw I love Star Trek and captain Picard just to break the ice here lol
  23. Unless you are a developer and knows the intricacies of ANY other sim, including FSX or prepare3d then I take your opinion with a grain of salt. If you are, and consider my opinions incorrect then I will bow down, but I would venture to bet that you aren't and never have been, you only have very limited experience on any sim including dcs for that matter. So please spare me your wishful thinking because that won't fill one hand up before the other fills with BS.
  24. What was the "untrue statements"? You said so yourself! Enough though I'm not here to insult people this should be a fun community wth happened?
  25. Ha well I'm so happy I have your pointless blessing thanks for the intelligent conversation Btw, pride is a poor substitute for intelligence
