Why the negetavity toward OP? He asked a valid question, one thats been lingering for quite a while now. And he was simply asking for a dev response. Because he cares.

Is DCS 2.5.4 Open Beta supposed to take 5-10 mins to open?
hollywoodvillain replied to minimi66's topic in General Bugs
I have the same issue. I believe its related to some module activation, as i did a complete reinstall and when launching a vanilla dcs with only stock modules it works great. Not sure which one but once i reactivated everything bam, takes freaking 10min again. I see dcs in task manager but its just sitting almost idle and not loading anthing. I just deal with it but it is annoying -
If you are referring to the fact thats its impossible to tell the direction of someone STT'ing you then I wholeheartedly agree.

I assume that means you agree? Just wanna say ive never seen any benchmark anywhere where 2 ssd raid 0 was faster than an single drive. Assuming they are same brand/type of course -

Maybe OT but generally running SSD's in raid 0 hinders performance in most cases -
For t16000 i use a program called joystick curves to setup 2 profiles, one with no mods/curves, and a second that only allows 50% deflection. You can set a key/button to switch between the 2 on the fly. It works great for precise flying switching to the second profile, you get much more precision near the center. This way you can have a setup with minimal curves, which is a good thing

Please bring back model visibility options
hollywoodvillain replied to lanmancz's topic in DCS Core Wish List
So there you have it kiddies. Ive counted 5 threads in the past month now pertaining to model visibility (or lack thereof), do we still think this is a non factor? -
Please bring back object size settings!
hollywoodvillain replied to Greekbull's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I dont really care how its improved, be it smart scaling, new imposter system whatever. What worries me most is as far as I know this problem has not been acknowledged by ED ( if im wrong plz someone point me to a recent dev post addressing the model visibility) which makes me believe they are either unaware of it or dont see it as an issue that needs attention. And with the hornet so close that thought keeps me awake at night -
Theres been a lot of posts lately about model visibility in the newer versions of DCS. You are not the only one having this problem. Hopefully ED will implement a solution in the near future that can make everyone happy

Joystick/Hotas Advice
hollywoodvillain replied to Mags420's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
For close to that price dont discount CH. Their Fighterstick has one of the longest throws of any desktop joystick, which amounts to better precision and less need for curves. Ive owned both x52 and pro, t16000m, cougar, warthog, x56 and I would without a doubt recommend it over all of those. Also nothing truly terrible about their pro throttle -
So is there a manual I missed for this we can read all the changes? Many questions like: 1. Apparently you cannot engage multiple targets simultaneously with r77, however I assume maddog is still modeled (if LA ovrd)? 2. Can you engage with TWS or must you use STT for r77? 3. Fortinero said the r77's are different than the ones for mig, if so, whats the difference?

Setting realistic expectations for the Hornet
hollywoodvillain replied to neofightr's topic in Military and Aviation
Well pardon me sir, but I call complete BS. You don't want to post even your most remedial credentials. You say you're mentioned in that book, but give no reference to anything you actually accomplished there. How does anyone have any respect for you at all? How about this, im God. Why? Because I said so on a forum.. RL pilots certainly dont come here to brag. The worst part is everyone you drag along with you. -

hollywoodvillain replied to neofightr's topic in Military and Aviation
Ok sry i was confused. Where were you stationed? What aircraft carrier did you typically operate from? Who was your CAG? -
Setting realistic expectations for the Hornet
hollywoodvillain replied to neofightr's topic in Military and Aviation
Im sry but am i correct in assuming that OP claims to be an ex-navy pilot? -
Always gotta be a party pooping forum police officer around here...ill just pm ya instead
-
I get it and im not trying to be a jerk, sorry I probably came across that way. Just that people keep asking about comercial aircraft and I would hate to see someone actually develop those in DCS...anyway if you haven't already check out xplane 11, amazing
-
And you want to fly that in dcs because?... Much better off going to xplane or fsx. Plz dont let the developers think they need to spend precious resources on things like that. We need F-18, not cessna or yak or airbus or boeing plz

How to put the target at the radar limits?
hollywoodvillain replied to apocom's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
I always wondered about this too. Even when referencing the nav mfd (or whatever its called in the flanker) its difficult to judge where the gimbal limits are, Ive always just guessed. If theres a better way I would like to know. Perhaps thats why western jets have a dedicated FCR mfd, rather than projecting it onto the HUD -
Cant believe no one has mentioned diving. This is the critical advantage of the sabre. When a mig starts to become offensive on you, simply start diving. Once you get to the point where she wants to roll uncommanded (about .96 mach) level out and start a shallow climb. Stay at top speed and theres no way the mig can follow. Just pull away until you get enough distance to re-engauge or exit the fight. Combine this with ACM and sabres in the hands of a flight of good pilots are unstoppable
-
IMO its not something totally different. I believe these 2 issues are directly related. bbrz do you actually do any dogfighting in dcs?
-
Amen. I haven't fired up the saber since I bought it due exclusively to this issue.

Universal Model Visibility Setting Mod
hollywoodvillain replied to Why485's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Wow. IMO fixing this issue doesn't belong on some wishlist, its a fundamental flaw that absolutely needs to at the very least be acknowledged. As of now its a complete deal breaker if left untouched. -
Universal Model Visibility Setting Mod
hollywoodvillain replied to Why485's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Just came across this thread looking for answers to this. Thank you Why485. Could someone point me to a post where ED has officially spoken of this issue? Noticing the dates I would be extremely disappointed if this has not been addressed somewhere yet.
