Well I was surprised because I had Steam download some game at 1.1mbps, which is as fast as my internet goes. Anyway, I have all the files now, and I will burn them to a DVD for the next time I format.

Hi, I am downloading DCS Black Shark off the DCS website (purchased months ago, already downloaded once, but formatted since), but I am having some difficulties: 1. The download speed never exceeds 50 kbps, and is usually 25 kbps. So it takes like 24 hours to get all the files I need for the game, not including the patch, which is another 1GB. 2. Most links to the Data1.cab file of the DCS BS installer are broken as far as I can tell. I get errors on both Free Download Manager and Orbit Downloader, and one link failed (rendering the Resume option useless) at around 135MB both times I tried downloading it. I am now trying for the third time. I hope by tomorrow morning I will have the game. Please let me know whether or not these problems occur to you as well.

Hi, I'm doing the Air to Air training mission now, and I am locked on the left (first) Su-25 aircraft with the Litening 2 targeting pod, but there is no indication at all of where the Litening 2 is pointing, on the HUD. So how do I point something that I see through the cockpit, with the TGP? I'd love to provide a screenshot, but hitting Print Screen captures my desktop and not the game, for some odd reason.

So Splinter Cells are also proficient at flying then? :D

As much as I love Steam (and hate the fact that my DCS Black Shark is non Alt-Tab-able with the Steam Overlay), I'd rather have all my money go straight to the devs, Eagle Dynamics in this case, which is why I bought the game directly from their site.

I hope you've got the old version of the PS3 Eye, as the newer one is a bitch when it comes to removing its IR filter.

There's something wrong with this petition, in my opinion. The specified alternatives for headtracking are just too many. You can't expect them to start supporting the Kinect, regular webcam and the WiiRemote. Why not focus on one interface, like FreeTrack, or FaceTrackNoIR (which isn't as good as FreeTrack, in my experience).

Good idea. I personally have only 2 gigs of RAM though, so I don't mind this problem.

Instead of a WiiMote, you could also use a Playstation Eye. It runs at 75FPS at 640x480, and 125 FPS at half the other resolution. I have the following setup: TrackClip Pro Playstation Eye (the "old" model), with IR filter removed and piece of floppy installed And a Playstation Eye Clip The downside to FreeTrack is that it doesn't have a 64bit version, so you're stuck with the 32bit version of the simulator you're running as well. DCS A-10C uses a lot of memory, so this could be a deal breaker.

I think you're onto something, Frostiken. "INS NAV RDY" is flashing on that small green screen on the right console (CDU?). Does it say anything to you?

I didn't check the controls options, but I can see the Coolie Hat moving when I use the aforementioned keys. Those keys do change the page on the MFCDs, but they don't set either as the SOI. Also, pressing the TGP again after it's shown only flashes the video.

Hi, I've tried different ways to removing the "NOT SOI" message on both MFCDs. I long-pressed H, K too, and I pressed the different MFCD buttons, including TAD and TGP, and which both show the "NOT SOI" message. So how do I REALLY choose a SOI?

Hi, I'm flying the On The Other Side mission. I have almost reached the point where I need to hover, however, I am uncertain about the meaning of each of the icons on the ABRIS. First of all, there's this INIT word on the ABRIS. What does it mean? Secondly, there's other text which I simply cannot read because it's too small. I know I can zoom the map, but it zooms on my location, and I don't know how to change the center of the map. Also, there's this circle around an area. I think that's the enemy area, but I'm not sure. I tried taking a screenshot, but the screenshot included black ABRIS and SHKVAL displays, so it's useless.

How much does a bad ping (300-400) affect MP training in BS?

I've been flying BS for a few months now (just a few hours a week, I should mention), and I too use rudder and bank. It works for me. As for stopping the Ka-50 (get into a hover), I use the Altitude Hold autopilot channel. This way I can raise the nose, and then the collective as to not enter a vortex ring, and this way I also do not gain altitude. Not doing it with the Altitude Hold AP channel is a lot harder.

Honestly, bogusheadbox, I never got to really play the MP part of BS. It just doesn't work for me. Either the pings are too high (300 or more), or the game fails to connect a server. Not to mention there are only a few dozen servers, most of which are locked anyway...

Thanks, I'll write it down somewhere. BTW, I assume you are reffering to the producer's note on Datalink. I already watched it once or twice, but due to rarely ever using the Datalink, I forgot how to operate it.

After I receive a Datalink transmission, how do I deal with it? I get 2 flashing buttons on the Datalink, but how do I make the Shkval follow the info or add the target to the ABRIS?
