Downloading NET 1.1 Problem Hi Scotty Thanks for your help so far: downloaded and installed Coolbits .... just great ..... and am taking OCing in very, very, small steps.;) But having trouble with nHancer. It directs me to a site for download MS NET FRAMEWORK v1.1 but can never hook up to download. Went to a German site as an alternative but finished downloading Version 2.0 which nHancer did not seem to recognise. Is there somewhere else you could send to get a download of V1.1? Thanks Wombat

Come on RU! They're Your Words!!!
Wombat1940 replied to Wombat1940's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks for replies Thanks fellas for the help ......... but I still think the wording is a bit ambiuous. However that may be due to my age .... you know "Grumpy Old Men" syndrome? ;) Had a very fast email response from RU and I apologised in a reply for my rather aggressive post. I repeat the apology here. Good flying, great sim, Wombat -
I'll try again! Both quotes copied from your Lockon.ru site: and Come on RU ...... they both can't be right!!!!

Thanks Scotty ...... looks mind boggling to me  ...but just what I need :D ....have to go and babysit my grandson now, so will explore later and I,m sure I'll be back. All the best Wombat

I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT 7500 WAS VERY GOOD. I SUPPOSE YOU ARE EXPECTING BETTER WITH THE DUAL CPU'S. HAVE YOU TRIED TO GET A FIGURE WITH ONE CARD TURNED OFF? MAYBE DON'T, ITS DEPRESSING. AS I SAID IN MY PREVIOUS POST I ONLY GET 45% IMPROVEMENT WITH TWO CARDS. I ASKED MY SUPPLIER OF THE CARDS FOR A 55% REFUND ON THE SECOND CARD ;). ITS CRAP WHAT NVIDIA ARE PUSHING: 'UP TO 100% GAIN WITH SLI .....' ITS TRUE ..... JUST MISLEADING! I DIDN'T FIND THIS. MY SCORES WHERE (WITH VSYNC APPILATION CONTROLLER): 03: 27430 AND 27451 WHEN AA 4X AND AF 8X 03: 27463 AND 27420 WHEN AA AND AF APPLICATION CONTROLLED 05: 11059 AND 11067 WHEN AA 4X AND AF 8X 05: 11050 AND 11067 WHEN AA AND AF APP. CON. 06: 5820 AND 5840 WHEN AA 4X AND AF 8X 06; 5839 AND 5840 WHEN AA APP. CON. V WHAT IS SFR? THANKS I'LL CHECK THAT SITE OUT. GOOD FLYING WOMBAT

Yuor SLI system and other Scotty ....... What's you're SLI system ...... dual 512's or 256's? My 3DMARK06 was 5840 with both cards in SLI a markup of 45% from having just one card on (see my signature for system details). I tried many test runs with different backgrounds turn on eg: AA 4x AF 8x, ......AA & AF Application Controlled ...... etc and got the same 3BMARK06 values each time. Also did the same for 3DMARK03 and 05. Results all in the same ballpark irrespective of how I set the background. l 3DMARK03 27462 3DMARK05 11067 As the readme file says ...... 3DMARK sets everything to the same in its own background (Res 1024 x 768, AF off, AA off, etc). It took me heaps of testing to convince myself of this. I even did cold boots before running each test! Even sat on the same chair each time the test was run ;). I do have an issue though with the background setting in the nVidia SLI dual setting areas. There are two ....... which don't make the same changes to each when you change just one. Let me explain ...... if you go to the Window's Setting window (right click mouse on desktop .... click on your NVIDIA Display - Monitor ....click on Performance & Quality Settings ... change AA 4x ... AF 8x .... check box to store both .... click OK. Now go the NVIDIA Settings Icon in the Taskbar of the Desktop ... left click on it .... click on ... Performance & Quality Settings .... if AA is on 4x and AF is on 8x that's good, that's what it should be. IF NOT WHY NOT :(:(. If they are on 4x and 8x change them to both to Application Contolled and exit. Go to the Windows Setting window and check P & Q Settings ........ IT WONT HAVE CHANGED, IT WILL STILL BE ON 4x and 8x :(:(:(:(. This doesn't affect the 3DMARK but it does affect Fsims like 3FAF where AA is set in Windows and not in the game like FC. The NVIDEO Settings Icon is what sets the default mode and overrides what is set in the Windows Display Settings. Well at least that's how I have found it.;) One final point, I can overclock my Mobo by up to 10% (I have no idea what you are talking about .... tweaking the CPU is it?) But when I 3dMARK it when OC, it freezes thru the test. Freezes is LOMAC1.02 as well. Although looking at the fps as its testing they seen to increase by 1 fps for each 1% of OC. I think "something is short of voltage" in the bios setup. But that all gobbldegoop to me . Sorry ....one other thing do you use FRAPS? (it's a free program that measures fps ) in LOMAC1.02 I get an average of 70.466fps for that full demo of "F15 Low". Gee's I talk too much ....:redface::redface::redface: sorry .... (Please don't forget my ? at the start of the post) Wombat

Wombat1940 replied to Su27flanker's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I don't have LockOn Gold but I assume its Lockon plus FC and that's it. You speak about the "original FC disc". There is only the FC disc which must be in the drive when loading FC (not LOCKON). Star Force does its own check when you first install, I can remember of having a choice of three buttons to click. It took time to check. Can you try to install on a mates machine to check if a H'ware or S'ware problem. There was another program you had to install with FC as part of the FC installation (I think). I assume this is Star Force installation, so you can't not do it. Good luck Wombat -

Are you able to install FC1.11 on to another computer? This would give you some indication if its a h'ware prob or s'ware. I have 1.02 and 1.11 on the same machine  .... sorry that doesn't help .... just try that second computer. Also after my numerous installations of 1.11 trying to get it to install parallel with 1.02, I got a note each time about removing lockon Windows files. There are 3 lockon.pf files in the Windows/prefetch folder. Have you removed these? Might be worth a try. -
Don't take it too hard C6_bandini .... I like to know why things do or don't work so I wouldn't want to reload either .... so keep asking here and elsewhere. http://www.f4hq.com/forums are a friendly lot. Good flying Wombat

Hi I'm not sure if this is a Bug Forum or Tech Forum question but here goes: I've been setting up to have LOMAC1.02 and FC1.11 running on the same machine. I like both, particularly the 'F15 - low demo' in 1.02 which I use to test frame rates when tweeking my equipment. With some help from forum members I have achieved this  and quite by accident I can now load FC1.11 without the FC1.1 disk in the disk drive. :D If I put the FC1.1 in the drive Star Force goes through it check as normal. If I take it out it, FC1.11 loads anyway. Is this other flyers experience, or have I stumbled on something that Star Force is unaware of? Wombat

Running Lock-On and Lock-On FC
Wombat1940 replied to Wombat1940's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
1.02 +FC1.11 Had a go at the "Breakshot Way" and it worked, although I had to do some extra fiddling to achieve it. Possibily due to my poor computer skills (blame my age). Since I already had both folders already loaded (one with 1.02 and the other with FC1.11), I thought I'd just look for the lockon.bat file in the 1.02 folder. [bat .... short .... for batch ..... batch files!!!! .... the penny's dropped .... like autoexec.bat file ..... gees I'm dense .....lockon.bat is a little "program" or "macro" ....] I did a search for all *.bat files in both the 1.02 and FC1.11 folders: FC1.11 folder - 22 bat files including lockon.bat 1.02 folder - 0 (zero) bat files!?!? So I copies all 22 bat files from the FC1.11 folder to the 1.02 folder. Double-clicked the lockon.bat file in the 1.02 folder and ..... presto, LockOn 1.02 loaded perfectly! I've generated the desktop shortcut and all is working beautifully. Thanks Breakshot. There's always numerous ways to solve problems (that's the Design Engineer in me), but there is always a better, or best way. We often find better ways but we are always searching for the best way. LOMAC or Falcon Allied Force
Wombat1940 replied to Sgt.York.AWG's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I think they both have there place, LOMAC-FC great graphics but no dynamic campaigns, Falcon4AF good graphics (particularly with the addon HiTiles) and has dynamic campaigns. I play both. Oops! I've said elsewhere I wouldn't get into pros ans cons ..... Wombat out ..... -

Running Lock-On and Lock-On FC
Wombat1940 replied to Wombat1940's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
1.02 + 1.1 GOT IT!!!!! Well .... almost ..... need at little folder renaming for each game folder and it works. Step1 Install Lockon 1.0 and patch up to 1.02 (no need to repeat afresh if already installed) with a standard installation. Generate the desktop icon and rename LockOn1.02 Step2 Create new folder in Program Folder (this is where 1.02 should have been installed in the Ubisoft Sub-Folder) and rename Ubisoft1.02. We therfore now have two folders: Ubisoft (with 1.02 inside) and Ubisoft1.02 (empty). Step 3 Copy the Eagle Dynamics Folder (and all it contents) from the Ubisoft Folder to the Ubisoft1.02 Folder. We now have two folders: Ubisoft (with 1.02 inside) and Ubisoft1.02 (again with 1.02 inside). Step 4 Install FC 1.1 with a standard installation. This will update 1.02 in the Ubisoft Folder to FC 1.1. Generate the desktop icon for FC 1.1 and rename LockOn1.1. We now have two folders: Ubisoft (with FC 1.1 inside) and Ubisoft1.02 (with 1.02 inside) Step 5 On the desktop double click either the LockOn1.02 icon or LockOn1.1 icon which will load FC1.1 by default because it is in the currently name Ubisoft Folder. Step 6 To load 1.02 rather than FC 1.1 go to Windows Explorer .... Programs Files Folder/Ubisoft Folder and rename to Ubisoft1.1; now to the Ubisoft1.02 Folder and rename Ubisoft. Step 7 Back to desktop and double click either the LockOn1.02 icon or Lockon1.1 icon which will now load 1.02 by default because it in now the newly name Ubisoft Folder. That's it. Bit messy but it works. If you try to boot up either 1.02 or FC 1.1 when the folder is named Ubisoft1.02 or Ubisoft1.1 respectively, or Ubisoftanything you get an error message regarding "runtime" The folder must be named Ubisoft for the game you want to play to load. I'm sure somebody brighter than me will tell me (us) there is an easier way. Until then, I'm sticking with above. Good luck. Rasputin, post if you have any problems. Wombat PS I'm running XP Pro so I was able to create a System Restore Point before I started, just in case things went wrong. -
