  2. Read before opening your stick: WARNING - TM WH Modders In the meanwhile I have tried different greases and lubes, though nothing gave me the hoped for smoothness. I sadly have to admit that this was a misbought for my flying purpouses. It is actually the second time Thrustmaster let me down, first with the Cougar about 7 years ago. The pots got dirty after 3 months of usage, making the stick useless. Returned the stick to TM and after 5 months (YES, 5 MONTHS!) of waiting and calling I only (but hapily) got my money back. This time, I thought (and it looked like) Thurstmaster did their homework with the Warthog and i'm sure they tried with best intentions, but not good enough for me. The stick is very charming and has an awesome feel, unresistable for many, but like the Cougar, good looks doesn't mean great performance. I might mod the stick when I have time for it, though for now, the stick ends up in my closet......
  3. That is too bad to hear! We can not do anything about it actually, this is livestream. For me, all shows were perfectly smooth though. Keep on trying tomorrow, it might be better then (refresh page (F5) when it starts to lag). Hope it will be better tomorrow!
  4. Owell, you can always get a new one :megalol:

  6. Not happy (so far), for formation leading the stick is not precise enough (bumbs, lack of smoothness). Working on a solution. But, for combat that is not really relevant.
  7. ah, and can you say that you have no bumbs at all when you pull the stick as slow as you can? By the way, I think I will give this a try: http://www.bike-x-perts.com/en/product_info.php/products_id/128303
  8. So, is that "world of difference" between the WD40/spray and the Valvoline, or between the red grease TM uses and the Valvoline? In other words, will that Valvoline grease solve the whole stickyness problem? If so, could you post a link or photo of that Valvoline grease? thx
  9. I have had the X52, X52Pro and now also the Warthog. As you say the Warthog is out of your budget, I would definiatly go for the X52Pro. Why not the X52? Because there are a few precision bugs in it and more important, it will wear off quicker (X52Pro has some metal parts which have proven to me to be of great importance). Important though, oil the metal ring with gunoil (ballistol) from the moment you buy it. Then it will not wear off at all and stay .
  10. Pictures are nice, reading is better ;)
  11. After standing one day stationary, my stick has the sticktion again........:( I thought, it might be because the stick (grease) is cold, so I put it next to the heater for a while. When the stick was all warmed up, sadly, no better results..... I will search and try different kinds of grease, see which one is the best. I hope that will solve the sticktion problem eventually, though something tells me it will not. The real problem is probably the whole design and/or materials used.
  12. The VFAT Staff and over 100 virtual aerobatic pilots would like to invite you to the Virtual Festival of Aerobatic Teams 2010. The Virtual Festival of Aerobatic Teams or VFAT is a big international airshow like RIAT or MAKS and spectators will be able to watch the demonstrations flown LIVE through our VFAT TV. The pilots mostly simulate the displays of real aerobatic teams like the Patrouille Suisse, Thunderbirds, Blue Angels, Russian Knights and Blue Impulse, however, many teams also create their own spectacular displays instead of simulating real life counterparts. Witness the result of another year of hard work by the pilots, simply for the enjoyment to the general public! ---------------------------------------- VFAT 2010 Dates: December 03/04/05 Watch LIVE here: http://www.virtual-airshows.com/english/vfattv/vfat-tv-europe ---------------------------------------- The VFAT 2010 Performers: Team Participants The Virtual Snowbirds Virtual Aerobatic Team "Berkuts" The Jet-E-Sons The Virtual Blue Impulse Virtual Turkish Stars 3GO Cube Aerobatic Team Virtual Patriots Jet Team Virtual Blue Angels Patrulla Helibelula Advanced Precision Aerobatic SQuadron Fighting Woodpeckers Virtual Ukrainian Falcons OWWE Osa RAF "Virtual Russian Knights" RAF "Virtual Swifts" Blue Comets Virtual USAF Heritage Flight Solo Participants Virtual European Air Operations Virtual Viper East Demonstration Team Virtual Viper West Demonstration Team HDF 59th "Szentgyörgyi Dezső" Virtual Air Base Virtual F-14 Tomcat Demonstration Team Virtual F/A-18C Hornet West TACDEMO (With Legacy flight) Hungarian Gripen Solo Display Team Virtual Belgian F-16 Solo Display Virtual F-16 Solo Displayteam Solo Freestyle by Faucon Virtual Strike Eagle Demo VAT "Berkuts" Solo by Sawamura Black Shark Demo by Cygan OWWE Osa Ka50 Solo by Shadow We hope to welcome you in our VFAT TV Chat during the event! 14. I tried Feuerfalke his spring trick but that doesn't do it for me. It didn't give me any extra smoothness and I bought the Warthog as a replacement for my X52Pro with the main reason to get something heavy. Either way, it is good to know we can play around with different spring forces somewhat.

  16. hmmm, that's interesting. Will give it a try. Is the stick still standing upright?
  17. Don't polish your balls, they need to be hairy! :D Seriously now, polishing is pointless. The only thing that can increase smoothness is the grease between the joint. Finding the right grease is of high importance here. The "stock" grease is already very good, so I would first start with increasing the amount like I did.
  18. We need greasy balls! :joystick: :D
  19. Good news, I have taken the grease of the spring and added it in to the ball socket, now the stick is smoother. The question remains for how long it will be this smooth. I guess that the amount of grease differs on each unit, so if you incounter the sticktion and you are bothered about it, you could open *at your own risk* the stick and do the same as I did. If TM is paying attention here, it would be good not to save on grease at the production line. I'm very happy to make this "discovery" since I was afraid the 400 euro stick would not live up to all my requirements. For now, it does. If someone knows what type of grease TM uses, please post it as it looks like we will need to add some grease every now and then. *EDIT* Adding grease did not solve the problem over time.*EDIT*
  20. Agreed, when I place the stick lower and pull the stick up while moving the "sticktion" decreases. I don't like the need to do that for the stick to work properly though. Another thing I'm thinking about is to increase the "arm" of the stick. So, making an extention tube would probably also overcome the sticktion. I'm also going to try different types of grease, see if that helps. I'm pretty sure my copy is no different from other samples. Sample variation seems to be unlikely with this type of construction. For how long do you own your Warthog? How many hours have you made with it?
  21. 100% sure sir ;) If I wasn't, I would have given myself more time with the stick. I'm still hoping it will smoothen up over time, though most likely it will not.
  22. @ JaseGill, Nice story but my 150euro X52Pro still does a better job than the 400euro Warthog (for the flying I do). I do not care about parts of the Warthog being plastic, if the parts would do their job properly.
  23. Correct, most people will never notice it. That's why I stated that this is only a problem for aerobatic formation leading.
  24. I really hoped it would be as good as all the reviews  What I don't understand is why they made the ball joint of a kind of brushy plastic. I think you can get perfect smoothness with greased metal ball bearings?
  25. There are holes to screw your throttle down, adviced to do the same with the stick. ;)
