  1. For what it is worth, these are my settings for the F/A-18C:

    0 - 6 - 16 - 24 - 33 - 43 - 57 - 67 - 80 - 90 - 100

I also modded the detent by filing down the leading edge slowly so I can push through into the A/B range without having to use the lifts.

Thanks Andrew. Just found this thread, this is exactly what i was looking for.

  2. Go for 3440x1440, as you say you can always upgrade your GFX card later on. I had a 27" monitor at 1920x1080 and was never completely happy with the clarity, it always seemed a bit too blocky; my 34" ultrawide is roughly the same physical height but looks so much clearer being 1440 in the vertical.

Can I run DCS World at 2560x1080 on a 3440x1440 monitor until i upgrade gfx card sometime in the future?

  3. Hi

I'm thinking of getting a 34 inch 21:9 ratio ultrawide monitor. My computer has a 4.0GHz chip, 16Gb Ram , a ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1050 Ti OC graphics card and a 22 inch 16:10 monitor which runs nice and smooth.

    I have a few questions:

    1. If i got a 34 inch 21:9 monitor with a native resolution of 2560x1080, will it look ok pixel

    wise?

Some say a 34 inch 21:9 screen is too large for such a resolution, that its too low and so

you can see the individual pixels.

Others say it looks good. What sort of picture quality does it produce? Is it really that bad?

    2. If i got a 34 inch 21:9 monitor with a native resolution of 3440x1440, could I then run DCS

    World at 2560x1080 (or thereabouts)?

I think my gtx 1050ti oc would struggle with 3440x1440 res.

Ideally I would like to buy a 3440x1440 for future proofing.

I could then get a graphics card sometime in the future that would handle that resolution.

    3. In general, does it matter about monitor size when it comes to DCS World because I read

somewhere that DCS World is more concerned with viewports rather than actual

    monitor size?

This led me to ask question 2 about running the game at 2560x1080 on a 3440x1440

monitor. Is this feasable, workable option?

    4. Or should I just get a 2560x1080 res monitor and be happy with that?

    Regards,

    Milli

  4. I can't change the frequency value with my mouse scroll wheel since the previous update. I can change the tens value but not the single number value. It from 0 to 1 and then back to 0 again. Have to use keypad instead.

  5. EDIT: I fixed it. I did a "repair" and I now have trees again. Lots of them.

    Hi there.

I've just upgraded to the latest v1.5 beta and I now have a problem. I'm trying to create a mission in my Huey. Been working on it for sometime now, but since this last update I no longer have any trees where there was once a forest.

I'm trying to create a jungle/forest extraction. I found a good place, in a valley with lots of trees. Now when I fly it there are no trees in the forested area. Its supposed to be forested, you can see them on satellite view etc. They just don't pop up now as real trees. The ground is flat with dark green colouring like its meant to be forested.

I've tried increasing everything up to maximum - textures, tree draw distance, visibility etc but they are not there.

Any ideas? I have trees in other places as usual but not right where they once were. Really spoilt my mission.

    Regards,

    Milli

EDIT: I've tried running no mods, no altered .cfg, .lua files and no autoexec.cfg file. Still no trees in this location.

  6. Is my question regarding the chinnoks not following waypoints due to the bug also?

They fly directly from the pickup point to the drop off point without following any waypoints in between. I've tried making a route to fly using infantry's waypoints and also the chinooks own waypoints. But they always fly in a straight line. Also the hueys do it when i try it with them.

  7. Hi

I'm learning to fly the Huey. I decided to dabble with the mission editor to set up some scenarios but I'm stuck at the first hurdle. I just want to follow a couple of chinooks with some hueys, dropping off some infantry close to an enemy position from the chinooks.

    Two problems:

    1. When the chinooks land and the soldiers disembark I only get one soldier appearing, who runs in circles, not going to his next waypoint. The chinooks do not take off, ever. I've tried with one soldier embarking and disembarking, exactly the same.

    And

    2. How do I get the chinook to follow a route to the drop off point? I've tried setting waypoints for the chinook and I've also tried setting waypoints for the infantry, hoping the chinook will follow the infantry's planned route, but the chinook always follows a direct line from the take off spot to the drop off point.

Does this sound familiar to anyone or is it just me being stupid?

  8. I have used Autohotkey to do this in the past. (Will get around to sorting out a voice activated system again sometime). Here is the code i used (written using the free SciTE4Autohotkey editor):

    1Joy2:: ; y Joy x , y= controller ID number in windows, x= joy button number

KeyWait, 1Joy2 ; Controller 1 is my TM Warthog Throttle. Button 2 is my mic switch pressed in.

send {v} ; Send "v" to issue VAC to arm itself, ready for speech.

    return

    A quick explanation:

Basically the script waits until I press button 2 on my joystick (controller 1) and then it sends a V key press. I had the key V set up in my voice activation software to activate the PTT.

I use a similar script to control my Trackir re-centre and pause commands at the moment.

I know it looks a bit complicated but once set up it works well so its worth pursuing.

    1. Install Autohotkey and SciTE4Autohotkey.

    2. Write your script using SciTE4Autohotkey. Make sure you have the correct controller number and your desired joystick button you want to use for PTT

    3. Compile it.

    4. Run the compiled .exe script when you play DCS World.

  9. What is MIPS? Which software is used for Windows?

    Here are some useful links:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mipmap

If you use Photoshop you can use the free dds plugin from Nvidia, found here:

    https://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-texture-tools-adobe-photoshop

Gimp users can use this plugin:

  10. Hi Kobac.

Good to see you started a new thread for your mod. I asked a question in PicksKings mod thread (sorry PicksKing) about what file in the Buildings_textures.zip that it is that you actually modified. Was it just the block_texture.bmp.dds file? I would like to use your colourful rooftops in my own mixed terrain texture package. The roofs look really good.
