  1. I grew up about 1 mile from a national guard base that flew Phantoms. The noise, smoke, and awesomeness of that jet is what created my passion for aircraft. Phantom, please.
  2. lucky, install a virtual monitor. there are posts about it using dfmirage. You don't even need the tightvnc stuff to make it work. Install the driver, span to the virtual monitor, and then use the icontrol screen setup to drage the exported mfd's over to the "unseen" virtual monitor. Easy as pie.
  3. I believe the way to accomplish the need for this is temperature based object models. Essentially everything in the sim would be assigned a temperature value. This would be rather simple for troops and objects that don't have engines/moving parts. But probably more difficult for objects with turbines, engines, tracks, tires, etc, as well as explosions tracers etc. That being said, I bet its readily doable by DCS. It would definitely make target identification much easier since you would have much less ground clutter, which would be far more realistic. As a side note, in battlefield 3 everything is assigned a temperature, although its a rather simple model. It would be awesome to see the rocket plume of a SAM fire off from the ground.
  4. Really looking forward to selectable channels. It would be awesome to have fore mid and aft mapped to use either left, right, or both channels. Really heighten the experience of knowing who's talking on what band.
  5. This is great. I just wish I could somehow set the digital display to my second video card. Right now its just running physx and isn't SLI, my 560ti is primary and my gtx275 is secondary for physx. Any ideas how to manually slave the digital display to the second card?
  6. Yep, I'll never forget turning on space quest, and starting off in the broom closet. I was transfixed on getting out before the ship exploded. I was 11 yo then. Then Police Quest came out next. That was cool too. ahh the good ole days.
  7. I can't believe you took that much time out of your life to respond. If you can't afford 30 bucks, get a free one or his free app. The fact that simming, like other hobbies such as RC helicopters/planes, sports, musical instruments cost money. People spend far more money on things that they enjoy because they get enjoyment out of them. To say that $30 is a lot of money is a joke considering in order to run this simulation you need a video card that far exceeds that of a "home office" type environment. You need a joystick at the least. The status of the economy has been proven to have little impact on how Americans spend their hobby money. Doesn't matter if they're broke, they still buy things that make them happy. So his SDK cost him 100 bucks. Say he sells a few hundred licenses. His take home is what 1000 - 2500 bucks? A developer makes anywhere between 40 and 65 bucks an hour and well over 100 on a contract basis? Seems like an appropriate amount of money to me. And to make accusations that he's breaking the law is absurd. Your comments could even be considered slanderous. He's posting on the software developers web forum. You think he would do that if he didn't have permission? Seriously. if you can't afford it don't buy it. But to tell a guy who takes his own time out of his life to create something that works BETTER than the free apps (and most of them aren't free, they require you to buy certain things to make them work) that exist is just plain old Trolling.
  8. I purchased the full version and am very happy with it. I don't think 30 bucks is too much to have tactile control over your MFD's, radios, CDU, etc etc. I think its the most awesome thing ever actually. Not sure what you guys want, but some of you pay $500 for joysticks that give you the same kind of immersion. Great app.. Love it.
  9. Hi guys, thought you might be interested. I wish the quality was higher, but this is taken from a helmet cam. This is "Rifle" driving the A-10 at the Wings Over Houston airshow 2010. I'm standing out in the middle of the airfield because I worked on the EOD Pyrotechnics team. FYI, not many people get this view and live to tell the tail. I'll be back for 2012 and I'll make sure and get a full HD video of the demonstration. A-10 Demo - Rifle Driving Here's some others, note there may be foul language used by me as things blow up, jets fly by, etc. Skyraider Napalm Pass - With bad language as gas bags light up all around me. Tora Tora Tora Demonstration - Super low passes and danger close! Skyraider - Yours truly sparking off an HE shot. F-16 Demo - Viper at the stick And here's a picture I took FROM THE GROUND. Note this was not some super zoom lens, just a standard lens that comes with Canon cameras. F-16 going over at just a shade under mach How about the luck in shooting this one P-51 hauling the mail. RUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!! I'm the big ugly one sparkin the charges for a spooky pass :)
  10. DCS A-10 came with a pretty comprehensive set of training missions to get you started in the wonderful work of Hoggin. There aren't any with BS2. Am I missing something or do I have to learn it all on my own? :(
  11. I'm having the same issues. I guess I'll try turning off SLI, I've already tried everything else including turning up cockpit resolution. Its better at 1024, but not gone. There are times where I can't even use the MFD's to target because the view is not usable.
  12. haha, thanks.. oh well!
  13. GBS, you can change the clutch button to a regular button in the saitek profile editor. The clutch button is typically used like a function key. by depressing it and holding it you can assign one button with a second command. I don't use the saitek profile editor either, so the clutch button is just another functional hotas button for me. I haven't figured out a way to use the mode switch without programming in the saitek software. I'd love for it to be a flaps switch, but i haven't spent a lot of time trying I also haven't tried programming the radials.
