Which A-10 Squadron has the Warthog nose art in game? :)

Keep us posted! I love that snake on a plane. (See what I did there?) :D -
Looks like it's available for sale on HistoryChannel.com too. It's a little pricey but might be a cool item. I checked on Amazon but it's the same price there. http://shop.history.com/detail.php?p=68584&v=history

Great video! I'm surprised there is so few views.

That is awesome! Thanks for posting. -
Smallwood's books are excellent. I just read both with in the past month and highly recommend them. I just learned about "A-10's over Kosovo" and highly recommend it after you read Smallwood's book as the tactics developed and used in Desert Storm are used again and built upon in Kosovo. Where Smallwood's books are written from interviews with the pilots, "Over Kosovo" is written by the pilots themselves which lends it a unique feel. The book starts with what is basically a short history and events timeline for the conflict and how the essays fit with in it, and then it's back to back pilot accounts of missions flown as a part of Operation Allied Force. I'm half way through it and will be sorry when I'm finished. Another great read, but from the Navy's perspective is "Bogeys and Bandit's". It's more akin to Smallwood's style and is good reading especially if you like Naval Carrier Operations. The book covers a Fighter Pilot class as they go through Naval Fighter Weapons School and it starts up introducing each pilot in the class just as they begin the fighter school and are assigned the then new F/A-18 Hornet.

Thanks guys, your right about which squadron your a part of doesn't change the skin on the aircraft. After posting this question I suspected that and kept cycling units and of course it had no effect. I guess I just assumed it would since everything else is so real to life in the sim. Thanks for filling me in on how to get the skin I'm looking for. I guess I'm not deep enough into the sim to have seen that yet. :) -

Yep the 74th and 75th are the Flying Tigers and the Tiger Sharks respectively and they both sport the "shark maw". One of the things I love about the A-10 is that they still use the WW2 Flying Tiger's shark maw nose art. :) here's the 74th: And the Razorback nose from the 184th: (Hopefully these guys don't mind me using thier picture's to get a look at the planes behind them!) The loading screen has a sharkmaw on the A-10's but I haven't seen one in game. I have flown a A-10 from the 184th (at least it had the sweet Razorback nose art) just once in a quick mission before I made a pilot logbook entry so just assumed you could create a pilot in that unit, but now that I'm there I don't see the 74th, 75th or 184th listed which are the units that use the above nose art... That's what prompted me to post. I'm still doing training and learning the systems but wanted to have nose art on the bird if I could. Am I missing something obvious on how to always have your Hog sporting nose art? Maybe it's only in the campain, but if so, does your pilot need to be in a certain unit? Thanks for reading if you've gotten this far. I'm tired and I'm sure I'm not being clear. I just want the Warthog I'm in to have nose art if I can figure out how. Thanks! :pilotfly: -

Is there a way to get a little Hoggish nose art on your AC in the game then? -
I'm trying to get my pilot to be in the squadron with the Warthog nose art in game. The manual lists the 184 and 188th Flying Razorbacks out of Fort Smith but I don't see them listed in logbook. Is it possible to have the warthog art on your A-10? I swear one of the instant actions the plane had it before I created my pilot in the logbook and now I can't figure out which on it is in game! A close second choice would be the Flying Tigers or Tiger Shark's shark mouth nose art but I don't see those listed either. :( You can tell I have my priorities straight, can't you? :megalol:

Are you serious? I just received mine last week and feel they are some of the most solid pieces of computer hardware I've ever touched and would recommend them to any one. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I just checked and it looks down. The site is http://www.ch-hangar.com/ right? (I typoed it earlier in a post, my bad, but was always headed to to the above URL in a favorite. ) -

I think I have it figured out. For whatever reason Lock On won't display the Axis as being sensed in the Options but in game everything works fine. Strange. A-10C and Black Shark recognize the sticks in setup, and work as expected. I hope CH-Hanger comes back. That site is what made me decide to come back to CH Products again after 10 years of not simming. -
Agreed. I'm setting up my CH setup now and am very impressed with it's quality. I got my full CH HOTAS with the CH Fighterstick, Pro Throttle and Pro Pedals for under $300 shipped from Amazon.

New CH owner... CH-Hanger.com offline?

Sorry to be a rookie, but I could really use a hand. I have found and followed "Control Manager for Dummies" by Ken King. Everything with the CH Pro setup under Windows looks perfect and all calibration is done. I downloaded some maps for the HOTAS on the forums and have uploaded them and I am passing any Windows 7 and CH Control Manager tests in "Direct X" and "Keymap" modes under Control Manager. When I am in A-10C, or Lock On the sims don't seem to recognize anything other than the Fighterstick axis reliably. I have tried putting the HOTAS into Direct X and Keymap modes with different but still not reliable behavior. Am I missing something obvious? Any help appreciated. I'd go to http://www.CH-Hanger.com but it looks to be down. -
I just got my new CH Fighter Stick/Pro Throttle today and I'm pumped to get it set up in Lock On, A-10C and Black Shark and it looks like CH-Hanger.com is down. I'm trying to download profiles for the above sims and the Throttle doesn't want to seem to light up in Lock On. The Axis for it isn't recognized, but the X and Y and Throttle Axis on the Fighterstick is... and the Axis on the rudder is lighting up and is recognized. I'm sure I'm doing ot wrong and was going to search around on CH-Hanger.com to a solution but it looks like it's down. Does anyone know what's up with that site?

I'm getting back into flights sims after a decade of being away and just replaced by old CH Pro gameport setup with a new CH Pro USB setup and am wondering if my old TrackIR 1st generation device is even comparable to the newer TrackIR 5? Is the TrackIR 4 or 5 worth spending the money to upgrade to? I wonder if the little niggling issues are resolved. I remember alot of glitchy issues with it in IL2 back in the day with it failing to return to center and tracking my head cockeyed. It was still worth it but it could get frustrating... I'm also looking at head tracking software called Chachya which looks impressive. The fact that is now a 3D aspect where you can lean in and out and to the sides looks incredible.

Rage, I sent you a PM but it looks like your in the UK and I'm in the USA. It might not be worth the shipping prices for me. Thanks for the nice reply ARM505. The Cougar is definitely higher on the cool meter, but really I just want something that will survive the trashing it will get and not complain. The 18 month old love to pull my current light Logitech twisty stick off of the desk... directly onto his face, then toes. I shudder to think of the damage a stick with any weight to it would do to him. :o Another thing I just thought of is that my a stiffer stick on the desktop where I sim at would be a hassleburger. If the stick was too much stiffer in throw than a CH it would be a bit of a wrestling match for my pencil-like arms. The CH is nice and floppy for desktop use and I still have my old neoprene "hand shim" from my last CH stick to lift my hand up to the top of the stick where I can reach the buttons. That said though, a modded Cougar would be flat awesome in a cockpit built up around it. Someday... :)

Never mind... I just finished reading the Amazon reviews for the Cougar and decided to stick with the trusty CH stuff and just placed my order. I won't have the time to mess with working on the Cougar with two new babies in the house. I'll barely have time to fly as it is. :) Sorry for the white noise.

new controller and trim in Black Shark?
brainwashed replied to brainwashed's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Thanks for all the reply's guys. It's a tough decision buying a new HOTAS and this helps. Maybe the FFB isn't the must have I'm reading about for Black Shark. I wish I could try both and make up my own mind with out laying out hundreds of dollars. :) If you have time would you way in on my HOTAS question here concerning a Cougar or a CH Pro setup? http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1141323#post1141323 -
I am looking for a new HOTAS for DCS: Black Shark and A-10C. I don't currently have one that works with Windows 7 and now that I'm getting back into flight sims a bite, it's driving me nuts to try to use my little twisty stick that I use with Battlefield. I used to run a CH Flightstick/Throttle and Pedal Pro setup way back with Warbirds and IL2 way back in the day and still have this setup but it won't work with Windows 7 and it's a crime. I'm tempted to just get the CH Pro USB stuff since I know it's solid, but I've always been tempted by the Thrustmaster Cougar and of course now it's not available. As a plus my good as new 11 year old CH Pro Pedals will plug into the Cougar iirc. I'm mainly enamored with the Thrustmaster's rotary dials on the throttle This just seems like a great option for radar and/or trim control. Are the rotary dials as good as they seem? This had me looking at the Logitech new FFB HOTAS but that looks like it has terminal issues with hardware and software with no community support like the TM stuff has. As a side note, I'm not considering the Thrustmaster HOTAS A-10 stick for purchase even though I wish I was. I can't justify spending the money in one lump like that, but I'm sure I would be very happy with it if I did. Anyway, my question is: Do I go and look for a used Cougar setup? Are the pot issues really that with this stick? It would fun to try something new. That said the CH stuff is dead solid it's just not as sexy and I wonder if my lust for the new A-10 HOTAS has me itching for the metal stick and the Cougar is what I can afford. What do you guys think that have actually used a Cougar and a CH Pro setup? Will a CH guy be happy with a Cougar and is it worth my time to try to find one? Thanks for any insight.
