  1. While deserts certainly are not the most interesting terrain, they do have their uses and actually, right now there is a zone in this world with mostly desertlike terrain that does have small active conflicts going on, namely the Middle East. Would you still complain about the desert if the map was not located in Nevada but in the Middle East, with Isreal, Syria, Egypt, etc.? It is basically the same 'boring' terrain over there.
  2. There is still a small mistake in this document, the german AA Tank is called "Gepard" and not "Geopard" . Or was there a thought of fusing an AA Tank (Gepard) with a MBT (Leopard 2)? Might be an interesting vehicle.
  3. The keypress to see the radio panel is Right Alt + Right shift + /-Num, just hold it and the camera moves back a bit, so you can easily select your frequency without having to guess. To recenter the camera from this view press Right Alt + Right shift + 5-Num. Hope this helps. I had similar problems at first, as the throttle really is in the way of seeing the frequency display, especially when you need to dial up the frequency in a ramp start scenario where you do ask the ATC for permission to start up and easy comms is turned off.
  4. Well, if you are doing the startup like instructed in the training mission, then, no, that line will not flash, it will not even display at that point. Usually, once you are finished uploading the DTS data, you'll push the OSB for the CDU page on the right MFCD and the OSB for the TAD page on the left MFCD. The first line of the CDU page reads Align plus a few numbers letters, the second line is at the start blank, then, after some time it will show INS NAV RDY and after that, when the eight line from the top shows T= 4.0 0.8, the INS NAV RDY will start to flash. Now, for the display of the map it only matters that the line INS NAV RDY displays steadily, when it does you can press the OSB for Nav and the map will display on the TAD page on the left MFCD, however, I usually will wait until INS NAV RDY flashes, as otherwise the EAC will not turn on. See also page 438 in the manual to see how the CDU display on the MFCD should look like before pressing NAV.
  5. Thanks for the advice and clarification, now I know why it doesn't do what it should do. Here's to my sucess on the next try.
  6. I never moved the cursor off the HUD (only moved it down about 5 cm from it's original place under the FPM) and while moving it, it is a square with a dot in the middle, but when it comes to rest it is a crossed out square.
  7. Hello, I've got a little problem on the 'Navigation' training mission, the problem is a follows: I'm at the part where you are instructed to set an SPI by slewing a cursor in the HUD downward and then pressing HOTAS TMS Up. The cursor itself is slewing fine, though when it comes to a rest it is marked by an X. When I now press TMS Up nothing happens and the instruction does not continue. What am I missing or doing wrong here?
