I don't know what happened in that mission, but I wasn't supposed to be detected at such an altitude (40~50m) being surrounded by the mountains.
I'll try to fly that again and confirm.

What do you think about Lockon's terrain masking implementation?
One of these days I was flying over Georgia, deep into the twisty mountains, with high walls of more than 1Km high around me, but if I fly more than 30~40 meters my RWR soon started to growl... and the SAMs were far ahead!
In my opinion that wasn't supposed to happen... ;)

But can we assume Tank Killers will be a Lockon successor?
Will it use the LO engine, or ED will start from scratch on this one?

What exactly will be Tank Killers, will it be a flight or a tank sim?
It's already scheduled for release?
Is it the same project that will include the F16?

A qualified "yes". You must still be far enough away that the launching platform can't burn through your jamming anyway.

One question comes to my mind: If i turn my ECM on, only AFTER an enemy launch, the missile is likely to loose track?
Because when it was launch, there was no interference, so it was launched from a farther distance, but when I turn ECM on, it may puzzle the tracking system, and make it goes ballistic... is it possible?

So it seems there's not much advantage on carrying an ECM pod...
Isn't a better idea, to load one or two more weapons than ECM pods? If you have to close the enemy, they won't help you much...

Hi,
I'd like to ask you Lomac gurus, a simple yet important (to me) question:
In close combat, does the ECM plays a relevant effect against Radar missiles?
From what I've learned in the manual and in this forum, the ECM mainly is used to interfere in enemies' radar so that they can't measure my exact location. One thing I learned too, is that when you're at some distance from the enemy, he can "burnthrough" your ECM, and that's where my doubts are.
When the burnthrough happens, the ECM is still effective in some way or then it's no more playing any role anymore?

... Note that this is not always the ideal way, and there are cases where an average AI plane may be more dangerous in the end - most missiles are pretty harmless at max range...
Hehe, that's why sometimes I struggle against an average oponent... I was really disappointed thinking: If I can't cope with a "ridiculous average" AI how will I against an Excelent? ;)
Man, there are things related to Lockon that in my opinion ED should publish documents explaining more details... The Mission Editor is one of them, AI behavior, some avionics, etc... I know those things couldn't be included in manual, but they could be released after with no rush... I would be very interested to read them...

Hi, I looked for this in FC's manual but no success...
When I set an AI's skill (from Average to Excelent) what really change? The "smartness", the max g-load? Specific offensive-defensive manouvers he might perform?
I'm specially confused because I did some head-on combat against AI and didn't notice any difference in BVR...

... make sure you point the Patriot radar vehicle in the correct direction (it will default to pointing North when you first use the Mission Editor to place the Patriot site on the map)...

Just a question on the Patriot: what's the angular limit of it's detection? I mean, how 'loose' can I place it so that it will still detect enemies?

The easiest way is to assign all required vehicles at once: the mission editor has selections available like "S-300 Complex" or "Patriot Complex".
Hummm... never saw this in the ME... where is this option?

Howdy all
I need some tips on the Mission Editor...
How do I set a SAM station? I'm a bit squeezed since there's some SAMs that look to have many components, for instance: the Hawk, there's the Hawk LN, Hawk TR (sorry if it's not the right name...) and Hawk SR.
The S300 station is another case, there's a lot of vehicles, antennas, launchers, etc... but I don't know how to set them (so they work properly) in the ME...
If you could give some tipos it would be nice
