  1. Not that I'm an expert (I just play one on the Internet) but Isn't that because they're landing on the Carrier deck and counting on the arrestor cables/hook to do their jobs and just in case they miss they have enough thrust to actually get airborne again as opposed to run off the deck of the carrier, stall, fall into the drink & then have a 100 thousand ton ship drive over top of them?
  2. In my opinion the only reason to use a deadzone is if the stick doesn't center well. - Then increase your deadzone just to the point where it "centers". Means you have some stick travel before it actually takes it as a command input.
  3. LockOn is no longer required for FC3. You do need to install DCS world though (if you don't use World for your A-10C). If you already use DCS world and are up to the current version 1.27 you can just purchase FC3, and load the module into your DCS world. (It's on sale right now too) - I just bought it myself.
  4. Hi, I just picked up FC3 on sale here, does anybody have a Map file they recommend for CH products gear? (have fighterstick, pro throttle, Pro Pedals) I'm mostly interested in flying the F-15 at this point. I've used Crunch's profiles for other sims in the past; http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php/files/file/93-lofc-ch-crunch/ Is that what others use? Or does the forum recommend some other profile? Thanks.
  5. I also have CH products: FighterStick ProThrottle ProPedals Throttle Quadrant. +TrackIR 3 with Vector. I keep thinking about upgrading to TrackIR 5... Maybe someday. All my CH stuff is over 10 years old & still going strong. although I did have to take apart the fighter stick once a couple years ago, the gimbal started getting "sloppy" - Just had to shim it a little bit.
  6. Yeah, that's kinda the worst warning lamp to ignore. It's the "to much fun light". It means you're going to fast and your rotor disks are about to intersect. Which, you found out is exactly what happens. Your max speed in level flight is around 315kph - maneuvers can of course decrease the speed the rotors intersect. So when that light comes on you want to just gently bring the cyclic back until you're having just the right amount of fun. For comparison, Wikipedia says the Max speed of the UH-1 is around 120 knots (220kph) The Apache 158knots (293kph). Vs the KA-50 170knots (315kph) So your modest speed of 250+ was actually right at the edge of the envelope.
  7. NVG gain knob is on the front panel, right below the weapon control panel. Cyclic stick may be blocking your view of it.
  8. Sure - Open CH manager - Open your profile, select the device (in this case the pedals) select the axis you want to change. On the right hand side of The control manager is the "axis settings". You'll have two drop downs: a DX device - and & DX Axis. Simply change the DX Axis drop down to the desired axis. At the same time though - can I suggest an easier way might be to use an already mapped profile? http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/showthread.php?7354-DCS-Blackshark-profile-by-Crunch is the one I use - with a few minor adjustments to fit me a little better. There are a couple others that have been made available you could try out http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?20-Helicopter-Sim-Profiles
  9. Looks alot like my first flight in the Black Shark.
  10. I'm sure that's just camera angle & ambient light.
  11. It's still "technically" a fixed wing. It generates lift by forward motion. It's a variable geometry wing :) - but still a fixed wing aircraft.
  12. Then you could possibly exceed the speed of light.
  13. Yes it was Experimental: http://mustang.gaetanmarie.com/articles/naval/naval.htm but the USAF after WW2 did drop the Pursuit ID, and switched to Fighter also; P-51's were renamed to F-51.
  14. Electro-Optical It's the seeker head of the Maverick missile.
  15. I can answer that! I get shot. Lose my hydraulics & RTB. It's fun flying with no hydraulics -- Trim doesn't work; Auto-pilot shuts down. Gear won't deploy. :) p.s. I'm not very good either.
