  1. I'm having a lot of trouble seeing low flying helos on my VSD. Whenever I do manage to get a lock on them, it only lasts for a couple of seconds and then they'll disappear again. Is there something I can do to counter this? I thought the F-15C's radar was supposed to be able to look down and not get confused by ground clutter. Also I have a second unrelated question: why is it that whenever I get shot by an AI missile, my pilot dies instantly? AI pilots on the other hand always manage to eject no matter where I hit them or which type of missile I use. It just happened again a few minutes ago. I shot down an Su-27 by hitting him head on with a slammer. He still managed to eject and I tried to gun down his parachute out of frustration, but that didn't work either. What's the deal here?
  2. uninstall dcs and try this brand new simulator instead:
  3. If the enemy is already aware of your location and is BVR, then turn on ECM. If they've launched missiles at you, start dispensing chaff (3 bursts/sec). In my experience I've only ever been hit by a Russian missile when I wasn't aware that they had launched. Also note that turning on ECM will make it easier for enemy planes to locate you if they aren't already aware of your presence, though it'll decrease the range at which they can get a lock on you.
  4. I have a problem with the F-15C's radar. I've tried reading the manual but I still can't figure out why this is happening. I created a mission in which I'm flying against two SU-27's. As soon as I'm in radar range, I switch to TWS, bug both of them and launch two AIM-120's against them. The first SU-27 always gets smoked, but the second one manages to evade the missile and go off my radar by diving low to the ground. Here's where the problem starts: as soon as he gets back up high in the sky, my radar won't be able to see him even if he's high enough off the ground and even if I'm at the same altitude, within radar range and directly on his six. One time I noticed that he would only appear at the bottom of my VSD if I pitched my nose up, but this isn't always the case. Any clues as to what's going on here?
  5. I see. I just checked out the manual and it makes mention of the AN/APG-70 on pages 141 and 168. Is this radar also available in DCS? From the manual on page 168:
  6. Does anyone know which radar the F-15C from Flaming Cliffs 3 uses? I tried searching for this bit of info and I couldn't find a straight answer.
