Lock_on ACS V1.02 & Saitek X52 Pro
RobAnt posted a topic in Lock On v.1.0x and Flaming Cliffs v.1.1x
Hi I'm having a problem using the Saitek supplied Lock On_v2 profile. "Thrust" is mapped to the slider next to the "D" button on the throttle handle. If I try to map it to the throttle handle itself I end up with it behaving more like an on/off switch, than a variable slider. Apart from leaving things as they are, does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this? Thanks in advance. :( -
You've played too much Black Shark when...

Now that is actually a good idea. I am forced to drive using hand controls only. Unfortunately this means my left hand obscures the speedometer. So a HUD showing current speed would be great. -
Thanks for the tips. Not so sure about me being a "novice", though. My first introduction to simulators was on the RAF's original Jaguar system at RAF Lossiemouth (Oh, and a quick go on, what I guess was, an elderly Hunter cockpit trainer at RAF Chivenor). back in the early/mid '70's. I will concede that these were just a quick introduction, but I do understand the further effects of flight control (ie using ailerons and rudder to turn). I find it easier to land an RC helicopter than an RC aeroplane. I guess that's because I can get it closer to me to see what's going on. And I've owned MSs FS software for years. I don't agree with your comment "A general note - if you observe a certain behavior of the helicopter in DCS BS you can safely assume it is as it is in reality". Put simply, I'm observing, what I believe are inconsistencies between my commands and the X52 Pro. For instance; if I use Z & X to control the rudder they work fine, and do what I expect - they revolve the ship around it's center. So, your mention of "axis curvature" is something I'll investigate further, and of course I'll look all the other links too.

How do I stop the rudder from over-correcting. X52 Pro (using control column twist). I can use the Control-Enter and T trimmer, but surely those are only necessarily when flight dynamics change - ie when trying to hold straight and level flight at various speeds. It's like trying to fly through variable wind conditions and almost always from port to starboard. Also, most of the helicopters I've flown (simulators, that is) the collective automatically matches power to vertical movement - ie throttle/collective up, you go up and vice versa. But I am having to use the keyboard in conjunction with the collective to rise or go down. Even with minimum throttle the aircraft maintains height (which sounds clever, but isn't what would happen for real). What's going on, and how do I fix it?

Thanks guys, your input is greatly appreciated. FYI, and not really pertinent, the first simulator I flew was the original Jaguar simulator at the OCU, RAF Lossiemouth in the '70's. I didn't get much help and simply took off and followed verbal turning cues that took me down to for a bombing run on the Severn bridge near Bristol. It always seemed to last just a minute or two. I only flew it once with the full motion system engaged. Of course it doesn't mean I know anything except how to take off and fly straight and level. :D:D Apparently they always needed someone to sit in the hot seat during calibration settings at night. Of course I don't remember his name now, but I'd like to thank the guy who invited me to do a couple of them. We're talking about the mid-1970's.

Still learning things like that. Thanks, I hadn't noticed it. The manual is fine and good and whatnot, but it doesn't actually teach you much, and some of the tutorial videos don't tell you how to do some things, they often assume you know what's what and how to achieve the final goal, but not necessarily how to perform the steps leading up to that goal so you end up chasing your tail trying to understand what the tutor means. The training missions built into the sim aren't that much help either.

Thanks, I sorted it via the prudent measure of raising the undercarriage. It would have worked today, but as the undercarriage was down the weapons wouldn't release. I must have inadvertently pressed the G key, or hit the button I had assigned on my Hotas T-Flight X. That's not to say I was getting right in the past, your help today has put me on the right track, and I am successfully able to hit the targets now. Thanks again.

Nope, still can't get it to release the weapon. The two carats move to either side of the pipper, the ASL falls cleanly through the centre of the pipper, the release cue winds down. When the release cue comes past the first carat I press and hold the weapon release button. Nothing happens. Eventually the ASL whips around the back of the aircraft and is lost from sight. The weapon remains firmly attached, it doesn't hang. What am I doing wrong? Edit: Ahhh, it does work. It helps if you ensure you gear is up! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.. :(

Haven't read the whole of this thread, it's quie large after all. So please forgive me if this has been noticed previously. I am playing in game mode, in the "Instant Action" missions, when I select the M/GBU-38's, which are preset to deliver in CCRP mode, I only get the Projected Bomb Impact Line (PBIL), but not the Azimuth Steering Line and Solution Cue. I have posted a screenshot at http://www.ramms.myby.co.uk/Screen_110623_234531.jpg Is this an error that crept in with 1.1.0.8, or am I simply missing something?

I am in Game mode and no matter what I do I cannot bring up the steering azimuth line to drop bombs (which are preselected for CCRP mode). Naturally this means the bombs won't drop, they simply stay there, even though I am holding down the weapons release button.
