So every folder containing the names Black Shark or Warthog now are leftovers? Can I remove them completely?
-
Haha, yeah, I know...realized that when my confusion arose...lesson learned for next time :P

Hey I'm having a question about the various folders that appear in association with DCS. I previously had DCS:WH and DCS:BS2 installed separately, but removed both and installed DCS World instead with both modules. Now I don't know what folder is for what. Where should I add or edit files (missions, configs etc.)? I currently have following folders: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS Black Shark 2 (this one only contains a few training missions I added manually earlier, so I guess this is just a left over from previous installment?) C:\Users\Charlie\Saved Games\DCS C:\Users\Charlie\Saved Games\DCS BlackShark 2 C:\Users\Charlie\Saved Games\DCS Warthog So where should I put missions and edit files now since I'm going with DCS World? Thanks! :)

The problem is that 37T/38T only applies to MGRS coordinates, while the thread starter enters coordinates in L/L format. About the elevation, have you tried setting the altitude to 0 in the CDU? If my memory serves me right, the DTS will know what height ground level is and set that one instead...

Yeah, it was a really great game, thank you yourself! :) I agree with you, when playing multiplayer with people who knows what they are doing, it adds a completely new dimension to the game. Never came so close to feeling like a real life pilot as the other night! :D Unfortunately, my computer is barely able to hold the game on its own so hosting games will be hard for me. But I'm really looking forward to joining a game you host again, let me know when it happens and I'll try my best to be there :D Expecting to see you soon :)

Navigation system acting weird after repairs
pewbeef replied to pewbeef's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Flew a bit today and I accidently broke my speed pitot when entering the runway (a10 is doesn't turn well at 80 knots :P). So the pitot was missing from the wing and I obviously didn't have any speed readings. So I took a lap and landed again to fix the damage. Repairs messages came up and I got my pitot back on the right wing. But when I took off again, I still did not have any speed readings...makes me think that the crew doesn't really fix the avionics, but instead, as someone said earlier, just gets the plane back in the air...just wanted to share this experience :) -

Haha, that is one option I haven't quite learned yet :P -
Navigation system acting weird after repairs

Yes, but that is exactly what I did! I requested ground power on while my engines were shut off for repairs to keep the alignment, but when I got back in the air I had this issue I'm describing. -

Ok, so either the ground crew repairs the airplane entirely, but one has to do a complete shutdown and startup (aka cold start) for the navigation to work properly again... OR The ground crew can NOT fix the navigation system, so the only thing you can do really is to get a new airplane if you want working navigations again. Can anyone confirm which one of those are right (or if it's all wrong)? -

Yeah, perhaps that's the issue. Didn't try a ground alignment, but instead requested power on from ground crew to keep the alignment... What I did try was a flight alignment, but it didn't help. But your theory that ground crew can't fix everything might be the answer to my issue. If it happens again I'll try a cold start and see if that makes things better! -

So no one's got any answer to my issue? :P -

The thing is that in that mission all coordinates were given in Lat/Long. If you take a look at the screenshot, you can see that WP10 is selected on the TAD and on the HUD, but the guidance cue on the HUD is pointing in the wrong direction. I'm aware of the 38T and 37T zones, but that is not the problem in this situation I would say. But thank you for your reply anyway :) -

Kalahari, did you receive the problem after repairs aswell? I just remembered that I printscreened the situation for those of you who cant be bothered to start up the track! It isn't the best pic, but you can see on the TAD that I'm almost on course towards WP10 - Bridge. However, most of the information on the HUD seems confused. Does anyone make anything of it? -
Hey, was playing a multiplayer game today when I suddenly got hit by a MANPAD (I assume it was one). Lost navigation data in the hit, but managed to RTB with TCN. Requested power on from ground crew and shut down my only working engine. After repairs on the base I got the "Warm start" message in the alignment page, and the alignment numbers looked good, so I assumed it was good to go. But when I got back into the air the navigation system was a bit screwed. On the TAD, it looked like my airplane and waypoints were at their right places. But the steerpoint cue on the HUD was way off, pointing in the wrong direction and acting really weird. Tried to to do an inflight alignment, but things didn't get much better. Wasn't able to release a JDAM either. Now I wonder what I did wrong. Should I have resetted something after the reapir? I'm quite familiar with the CDU, but much of it is a mystery to me. Linking a track file, sorry for the enormous size! http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12649515/nav_fail_after_repair.trk Really appreciate any help! :)

yeah, i know i should, but as off now, i'm playing the game on a laptop with only keyboard and mouse and with no TrackIR or similar...as soon as i have saved up for a decent desktop, i think i'll get the other luxury hardware aswell :)
-
haha, if you think it's hard to do AAR with a stick, try doing it with the keyboard arrows. That's how I play the sim, and I tell you, it's freaking hard! :)

hey, i just used Tacview for the first time, amazing tool. You really get a good overview over the combat area. well, i saw that when i was strafing a target there were ALOT of ricochets flying around. I was wondering if these ricochets are modeled to damage things that gets in their way, like an airplane that happens to be in the way or some poor infantry half a mile away from the initial impact point?

nice to see someone else that played/plays SHIII :)

Thank you for all the answers guys, got a few good tips to try! Thats just another thing that is great with this sim, there is no right or wrong! Everyone develops different styles of performing their missions and you can learn alot from others!

KaspeR32, does that work even if there is nothing to hook on to in the vicinity of where I want to place the mark point? I don't need to hook anything or so? I wonder why there is no way to create waypoints in the similar fashion? It would certainly make it easier to create flightplans inflight!
-
Does anyone know if it is possible to create some kind of waypoint or mark point by using only the TAD cursor? Today I flew past a bridge crossing a river at low altitude when I spotted a column of trucks. I could recognize the bridge crossing on the TAD, but didn't know how to make any type of reference point with the cursor. Anyone got an advice on how to mark those visual tallys? :helpsmilie:

I have a question about Fence in and Fence out...is it supposed to work? I try to get my wingman to turn off his lights when we enter the AO, but he refuses. The only time he does turn them off is when I tell him to attack something, but as soon as he rejoins he turns them on again. I have noticed the N/A after Fence in and Fence out, does that mean this function is disabled?

Hey, I got it to work now! Guess what I did wrong was to keep the engines running and using the INTERCOM dial. Worked like a charm when i followed the right procedures! Thank you guys, ur the best! :)

Thank you for quick answers! When you say communication button, which one do you mean by that? I guess Im not supposed to be using UHF or VHF FM/AM when i call for ground crew?
